The storage room and charging room
should be dry and ventilated.
Stacking of batteries should be in a proper
manner and not more than 4 batteries.
Batteries should be stored upright.
Batteries should be handled on a First In
First Out (FIFO) basis.
v
v
v
Do not store batteries with other items.
Do not keep more than 4 batteries to avoid
terminal damage, packing damage,
container damage.
Batteries should not be stored sideways.
Our tech expert
Mr. Sanjeev Saini, Director Technical, Su-Kam,
gives us tips on
Battery Care & Maintenance
v
v
v
Recharge the batteries with
current and constant voltage (CCCV)
charger with charging current 8 to 10%
rated capacity till charged 14.4VDC.
Use good quality charging clips / wires to
connect batteries during charging.
Before connecting or disconnecting a
battery in the charging circuit, the charger
should be put off first.
constant v
v
v
Do not try to fast-charge with higher
currents as this will damage the battery
and lead to reduced battery life.
Do not use broken clips or frayed wires for
charging.
Do not connect or remove a battery from
charging circuit during charging process.
RECHARGING
vAlways use proper ampere hour battery as
per the maximum load to be connected
with the inverter.
vDo not use the battery in the wrong
application - inverter/UPS battery with
inverter / UPS only and automotive battery
with vehicles only.
SELECTION OF BATTERY
v
v
v
v
v
Check the Inverter cut off within the
specified limit of voltage range 13.8 volt to
14.4 volts for upper cut off and 10.5 volts
for lower cut off.
Charging current shall be 8 to 10% of the
rated capacity of the battery
Install the Inverter & Battery in a ventilated
area away from rain / water.
Use appropriate Battery Equalizers for
Balancing of batteries connected in series.
All connections should be proper / tight so
that sparking does not occur.
v
v
v
v
If the charger / inverter output is beyond
the specified limit than recommended, it
will need frequent topping up with distilled
water.
A battery expels explosive gases. Keep
sparks, flames, candle or other ignition
sources away at all times. Always wear
safety goggles or a face shield when
working near a battery.
Do not cover the Inverter with any cloth or
paper.
Never hammer the battery terminals while
fixing battery cables.
INSTALLATION
v
v
v
v
v
After Installation, use the battery on a
continuous basis. If a power cut does not
occur, discharge the battery completely
once in a month.
Keep the top of the battery clean, to
prevent clogging of vent holes. Clogging
leads to accumulation of hydrogen gas
which may cause the battery to burst. Use
a moist cotton cloth for cleaning the
battery.
Keep the battery terminals clean and free
from accumulation of dust.
Apply petroleum jelly or Vaseline on the
terminals, bolts and nuts to avoid
corrosion.
Check the battery once in every 2 months for
the water level. This is to be maintained
between the maximum & the minimum level.
If the level is low, then top up with distilled
water (DM water) only.

Do not keep the battery idle for more than
one month.
Deposits of rust or foreign particles in
the terminal will lead to a drop in the
voltage/current.
Do not short the terminals of the battery to
check whether the battery is in good
condition or not. Avoid metal contacts
across terminals.
Never apply grease to terminals because
it has a lot of minerals and is flammable.
Never add any acid.
Topping up above the maximum marking
level will lead to overflow, which will create
corrosion in the metal parts and weaken
the electrolyte strength.

Battery Care & Maintenance
v
v
v
Recharge the batteries with
current and constant voltage (CCCV)
charger with charging current 8 to 10%
rated capacity till charged 14.4VDC.
Use good quality charging clips / wires to
connect batteries during charging.
Before connecting or disconnecting a
battery in the charging circuit, the charger
should be put off first.
constant v
v
v
Do not try to fast-charge with higher
currents as this will damage the battery
and lead to reduced battery life.
Do not use broken clips or frayed wires for
charging.
Do not connect or remove a battery from
charging circuit during charging process.
RECHARGING
vAlways use proper ampere hour battery as
per the maximum load to be connected
with the inverter.
vDo not use the battery in the wrong
application - inverter/UPS battery with
inverter / UPS only and automotive battery
with vehicles only.
SELECTION OF BATTERY
v
v
v
v
v
Check the Inverter cut off within the
specified limit of voltage range 13.8 volt to
14.4 volts for upper cut off and 10.5 volts
for lower cut off.
Charging current shall be 8 to 10% of the
rated capacity of the battery
Install the Inverter & Battery in a ventilated
area away from rain / water.
Use appropriate Battery Equalizers for
Balancing of batteries connected in series.
All connections should be proper / tight so
that sparking does not occur.
v
v
v
v
If the charger / inverter output is beyond
the specified limit than recommended, it
will need frequent topping up with distilled
water.
A battery expels explosive gases. Keep
sparks, flames, candle or other ignition
sources away at all times. Always wear
safety goggles or a face shield when
working near a battery.
Do not cover the Inverter with any cloth or
paper.
Never hammer the battery terminals while
fixing battery cables.
INSTALLATION
v
v
v
v
v
After Installation, use the battery on a
continuous basis. If a power cut does not
occur, discharge the battery completely
once in a month.
Keep the top of the battery clean, to
prevent clogging of vent holes. Clogging
leads to accumulation of hydrogen gas
which may cause the battery to burst. Use
a moist cotton cloth for cleaning the
battery.
Keep the battery terminals clean and free
from accumulation of dust.
Apply petroleum jelly or Vaseline on the
terminals, bolts and nuts to avoid
corrosion.
Check the battery once in every 2 months for
the water level. This is to be maintained
between the maximum & the minimum level.
If the level is low, then top up with distilled

RAJESH HISSARIA
Raj Power Control, Kolkata
In the year 2006, I was thinking of starting a business of my own and had the chance to meet
Mr. Vishal, RM, Eastern Region, then BM, Kolkata. It was then that I realized the market
potential of a company like Su-Kam, which believed in designing innovative and futuristic
products suitable to the local requirements and conditions. It was then that I decided to be a
part of the Su-Kam family with the belief that I was stepping on to a guaranteed growth path.
I am truly blessed to have a beautiful and loving family comprising of my very supportive wife,
Mrs. Pinki Hissaria and our two dynamic sons Aditya and Roshan. My association with Su-Kam
has helped me to make their life better and more prosperous. They feel proud to be a part of a
larger family called Su-Kam.
At the time I joined SU-KAM, the region was facing a serious power shortage, but most people
were unaware of the reliable, convenient and comfortable solution of Su-Kam inverters. Apart
from the prospect of financial growth, it was an opportunity to spread awareness and Su-Kam
gave me the confidence to reach out to the customers with utmost conviction. I felt a real sense
of achievement when the first-time customer went home satisfied.
I was working as a Works Manager in a Tyre Retreading Company called Sunny Tyres in Kolkata.
It was a very long association spread over 15 years and ended only when the company closed
down. It was only then that I decided to be an entrepreneur and Su-Kam entered my life.
My first meeting with Mr. Vishal, RM, Eastern Region, made me realize that a power solution
product like an inverter has huge untapped potential, both in the domestic and commercial
sectors in West Bengal. Mr. Sachdev’s vision and futuristic outlook as well as understanding of
the local conditions and requirements gave me enough confidence and belief that there was a
strong possibility of mutual growth and success. There has been no looking back since then.
Satisfaction and peace of mind are the primary requirements of every customer. Proper
assessment and guidance about the specific requirements of every customer and the sense of
comfort and confidence about after-sales service are the key elements of customer satisfaction.
A satisfied customer is the best and most effective form of marketing.

I think our greatest achievement has been to grow from a retailer to a distributor.
On studying the market and talking to customers, we found that people had a very
good impression of Su-Kam and preferred to buy their inverters and batteries.
Su-Kam is a famous name all over India, with an excellent reputation. I think by
being associated with Su-Kam was the right decision.

The goodwill we have earned in the Tamil Nadu market is our greatest achievement.
We started Adhitya Marketing & Services in 2003 as dealers for Aqua UPS Batteries (authorized Quanta

of manufacturing batteries and battery plates and we were also importing SMF
batteries. In 2003, I started another unit in Dombivali, located in Thane,
Maharashtra.
Initially, I bought a few inverters from the distributors of Su-Kam. I used the inverter for about 6
months and found it to be a really good product and I was more than satisfied with its quality
and performance. After around 6 months of using the product, I decided to take the
distributorship of Su-Kam.
We live in a joint family with my parents, my brother, his wife and their children, along with me,
my wife Parita and our three-year old son Kabeeir. My wife is my greatest strength and support.
She has an M.Pharm. degree and is currently working with Piramal Health Care as Senior
Research Scientist for the last seven years.
I chose to be associated with Su-Kam because of excellent product quality, and their varied and
wide range of products.
My journey into this world of inverters and batteries started with Su-Kam. The journey so far
has been very fulfilling. With Su-Kam, I have always experienced a sense of togetherness even in
testing times. The positive attitude of the Su-Kam team actually had a wonderful influence on
