Our members are the most important aspect of our club. We would not exist if not for you.
Membership renewals for 2018 are now due. Please see the membership form included with this news-letter.
If you are not a member, please consider supporting our club by joining! Friends, fun and fellowship are a guaranteed benefit! We, your board, thank you for your continued support!
First, thank you for electing me as your President. It is an honor and a privilege to have your confidence in me for the upcoming year. We have a busy year ahead of us, with many offices in Florida up for election or retention in 2018, including Governor, Attorney General, Commissioner of Agriculture, State Representative (all 120 seats), State Senate (20 seats), State Attorney,
Public Defender, School Board (4 seats), and County Commissioner, to name a few. Through the tireless dedication of our members, I am confident we will all go that extra mile and work harder than ever to elect or keep Republicans in office.
We have made a unique change to our venue, by voting on two, to make our meeting venue attractive to current and prospective members in Lee County. Lunch meetings will be held at Gulf Coast Village, in Cape Coral, in its recently renovated meeting room with State-of-the-Art technology. Dinner meetings will be held at The Burroughs Home, in downtown Fort Myers, where we can enjoy beautiful sunsets overlooking the river, while enjoying presentations from our speakers, and our end-of-year Christmas party. Despite the change in venue, there is no price increase. We have also added a $5 table for walk-in attendees, or those who do not wish to eat, but still want to enjoy the program and beverages.
I am pleased to report that almost all 2018 programs have been scheduled. On January 2, 2018, we begin our year with Larry Hart, Lee County Tax Collector, who has important information for all. We have booked an exciting panel, “Women in Justice,” to discuss hot-button issues, including the death penalty and opioid crisis. We have partnered with the Young Republicans to expand our reach and further our goals in 2018 and beyond. And, we have booked a surprise, out-of-state speaker to discuss politics across state lines and related issues, and to bring fresh perspective to our core values and principles.
I am looking forward to seeing you all at our first meeting of the year, at Gulf Coast Village, located at 1333 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral, FL. Cost is $18. Reservations required. Please join us!

This is a reminder that our meeting locations for 2018 have changed.
Luncheon meetings will now be held at Gulf Coast Village in Cape Coral.
Gulf Coast Village is a beautiful facility with additional services that will enhance our programs for 2018. Gulf Coast Village is located at 1333 Santa Barbara Blvd. Cape Coral, 33991.
Our quarterly dinner meetings will now be held at the historic Burroughs Home in Fort Myers. This is a beautiful and unique venue, and we are excited to begin holding our dinners there. The Burroughs Home is located at 2505 First St. Fort Myers, 33901.
Luncheons will be $18.00 inclusive, and dinners will be $25.00 inclusive with cash bar available at the dinners.
We have had an ongoing issue with last minute reservations and walk-ins. We will make every attempt to accommodate those individuals, but in the event it’s not possible to do so, we will be adding a $5.00 table where coffee and tea will be served. That way our guests will still be able to en-joy the program.

Club Service Project
Treats for the Troops is one of LRWC’s community service projects. The club has sent dozens of boxes of comfort and care items to our active duty troops in Afghanistan. Our troops look forward to even the smallest reminder of home. Won’t you please consider helping us send a touch of home to these American heroes?
We’ve provided a list of items that soldiers have indicated they would need/enjoy (left.) Clip and take it with you next time you shop. Financial contributions are also gladly accepted, and will be used for postage. Donations are accepted at any meeting, or contact Vicki D’Amore at [email protected]
Please make checks payable to LRWC.
NOTE: Please send only new items in their original, sealed packaging. Food items should ideally be in individual snack size packages. Although travel size items are preferred.
Please do NOT send hotel samples, expired food or aerosol cans.
*If you know of a soldier serving in Afghanistan who would like to receive our “Treats,” please contact Vicki at the email above.
In 2018, the Southwest Florida Young Republicans will be implementing a new strategic plan, where our main mission is to recruit, train, and elect young conservatives throughout Southwest Florida. Club events will be structured into quarters and separated into 3 categories to help accomplish this goal (social events, political events, and charity events.) We are looking forward to helping ensure Republicans get elected at every level of government in the coming election cycle.
Our next event will be on Wednesday January 17th, 2018. More information will be announced on our social media pages as the date gets closer. The SWFL Young Republicans would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and safe and happy New Year.
