Leadership Class Project a Huge Success!

Congratulations to Leadership Mineral Wells Class 20 for the suc-

cess of the “Tee Up Fore Charity” Golf Tournament. A special

thank you to all the sponsors, teams and individual donors.

Because of your generosity, LMW Class 20 was able to donate

$10,000 to two local nonprofit organizations that are making a

difference in Palo Pinto County. Both the Disaster Relief Team

and Addictive Recovery Ministries will receive $5,000 to purchase

Help Us Celebrate Earth The Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce

the 4th Annual Crazy Fossil Dig Event will be held

November 1, 2014 from 10am to 2pm. National

Earth Science week is October 12-18 and we are

proud to be a part of this national event by hold-

ing a celebration of our own, even if it’s a little

later.

During the Crazy Fossil Dig there will be tons of fun for visitors! The first 50

attendees will receive a Mineral Wells Fossil Park apron, designed especially for

your next paleontological adventure. On hand will be special guests from the Dal-

las Paleontological Society to assist with fossil identification.

From top to bottom, the overall design elements are representative of architectural features included in the

Baker Hotel. Beginning at the top, the cap is taken from the roof accent found on the parking garage. The

lone star in the cap at the top signifies our state pride. Moving down, the blue and red were taken from the

limestone window accents found at the upper levels around the hotel. If you look closer at this element, you

will see the upper red segment forming an “M” and the lower blue portion forming a “W”-for MINERAL

WELLS. The “M” and the “W” are separated by a light blue wave which represents our founding heritage of

being a “Town Built on Water.” The colors of blue and red also have meaning in which they represent our

strong military and patriotic history. The bottom is taken from the stairs leading up to the baker which dis-

plays a firm foundation yet symbolizes a community that is moving upward.

It was reported in the September 2014 newsletter that

Genesys Aerosystems had purchased and remodeled a

hangar. Although upgrades were made by Genesys

Aerosystems, the hangar is leased from the City of

Mineral Wells.

The Chamber would like to apologize for this error.
