Community Council meetings (minutes and details of next meeting)

What’s On

Babcock – Rosyth International Container Terminal next steps

76 objections were submitted objecting to Babcock’s Harbour Revision Order applications for the River

Forth and Rosyth International Container Terminal. These objections included those from Forth Ports,

Scottish Natural Heritage and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. The Community Council’s

objection document can be viewed here – link.

The process, as we understand it, now gives Babcock the opportunity to respond directly to objectors.

Objectors may expect contact from Babcock, who may seek to explain why their proposal is so good and

ask objectors to withdraw their objections. If objections are withdrawn then there will be no opposition to

the container terminal and Scottish Government Ministers will grant Babcock the HRO. If, on the other

hand, objectors do not withdraw their concerns then these will have to be examined. This would be the

best outcome at that stage. It is, therefore, important that the objections are not withdrawn.

If anyone would like support from the Community Council in dealing with this communication from

Babcock, then please feel free to contact us at the details given below.

In addition, the Harbour Revision Order process does not clearly stipulate the timescale. This, together

with the upcoming elections, offers little idea about when a decision will be made, and which MSPs will be

making it. In the next few weeks the Community Council will continue to publicise our stance on this

matter.
