TUF signs MoU with INONU University TurkeyThe University of Faisalabad signed a Memorandum of Understanding with INONU University, Turkey to promote scientific and educational cooperation. The MoU signing ceremony was held on the occasion of 3rd Vice Chancellors Forum of Universities of Islamic World, held in Islamabad on February 23-24, 2015. MoU was signed by Prof Dr Cemil Celik, Rector, INONU University and Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Rector, TUF. INONU University is a multidisciplinary university and has faculties of Health Sciences and Engineering of international repute. Both the Rectors welcomed the opportunity for the exchange of staff, scholars, students, academic

information, and materials in the belief that the research

and education process at both universities would be enhanced.

man to have access to higher education. He expressed that TUF will continue to render its services to achieve the objectives of quality and professional education in the country. He said that the University has recently launched educational radio channel TUFIANS FM 96.6. Maj Gen (Retd) Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam, VC, UHS while addressing the convocation, appreciated the academic achievements of the University during the 13 years since its establishment. While congratulating the graduates of UMDC, he expressed his hope that they would utilize their professional skills and knowledge for providing health care services to the common people of their country. Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Rector of the University briefed about the performance of the Institution. He said that the University is imparting professional education in different disciplines including Health Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Management Studies and Arts and Social Sciences. 526 graduates of The University of Faisalabad and University Medical & Dental College were awarded degrees. Graduates were also awarded medals for their excellent performance in academic as well as co curricular

activities. Faculty and staff members who rendered dedicated services to TUF and UMDC for ten years were also awarded medals and prizes.

The University of Faisalabad signed a Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with Kotler Impact, globally renowned strategic marketing community led by Mr Philip Kotler, a leading scholar and educationist in the field of Business and Management. The event was held on 7th November 2015.The agreement was signed by Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Rector, TUF and Dr Fahim R Kibria, Chief Marketing Officer, Kotler Impact during a ceremony held at TUF.

The University of Faisalabad is the First University in Pakistan to have this agreement. Kotler Impact will collaborate with TUF for Kotler Business Programme, Philip Kotler Marketing Forum, World Marketing Summit Journal, Kotler Awards and other valuable business and value added marketing programmes for professionals particularly for the students of Management Studies of the University. On this occasion Dr Fahim R Kibria gave a lively presentation on marketing strategies.

MOU with GC University FaisalabadThe University of Faisalabad signed a Memorandum of Understanding with G C University Faisalabad (GCUF) for a long term mutual collaboration between the two Universities. MOU was signed by Prof Dr Abdul Majeed Rector, TUF and Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor GCUF at a ceremony held at The University of Faisalabad on September 8, 2015 which was also attended by Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Dean Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, Prof Dr Abdul Haq, Director ORIC, and

other senior faculty members from both the Universities.The objective of this MOU between the two institutions is to encourage direct contact and cooperation between faculty members, departments, institutes and research centers to benefit from the facilities and expertise of each other. Both the Universities will carry out cooperation in joint research activities and publications; exchange of information in fields of interest of both institutions and holding of conferences, short courses and other academic activities.

TUF hosts Intervarsity Great Debate Contest organized by British High Commission

The University of Faisalabad hosted an all Faisalabad Intervarsity English “Great Debate Contest” organized by British High Commission Islamabad on November 10, 2015. Mr Ben French, DFID Punjab Representative, UK Aid Program, was the chief guest of the event. Students from different Universities of Faisalabad participated in the contest. After three rounds with different topics in the contest, Mr Abdul Hannan, from GC University Faisalabad got the first position. Mr Ben appreciated the students’ views on different national and international issues. He also thanked the Management of TUF for hosting this event. Dr Abdul Majeed Rector TUF presented a shield to Mr Ben on behalf of the University of Faisalabad.

Naqeeb ul Ashraf Syed Khalid Abdul Qadir Mansoor Al-Gillani from Baghdad, Iraq inaugurated “Therapeutic Gym” at Madinah Teaching Hospital on May 26, 2015. Maj Gen (Retd) Khadim Hussain HI (M), Rector Foundation University Islamabad visited The University of Faisalabad on September 17, 2015. Rector TUF Dr Abdul Majeed gave an overview about different ventures undertaken by the Madinah foundation like The University Medical & Dental College, The University of Faisalabad, Madinah Teaching Hospital and other welfare initiatives. Principal UMDC Professor Dr AG Rehan along with MS UMDC Brigadier (R) Tauseef Qadir Qureshi briefed about the infrastructure of the hospital and health services being offered. He visited different laboratories, library of the University and affiliated Madinah Teaching Hospital and expressed satisfaction over the quality of services being provided. He lauded the state of the art facilities being provided to the students. Maj Gen (Retd) Khadim Hussain also planted a memorial tree.

Prof Dr Abdul Haque delivered keynote lecture in International Conference held in Nepal

Dr Abdul Haque, Professor of Pathology and Director ORIC, The University of Faisalabad, Faisalabad was invited by organizers of ICIDN (International conference on Infectious Diseases and Nanomedicine) to deliver a keynote lecture and to chair a session. The Conference was a joint venture of Nepal Medical Microbiology Society, American Society of Microbiology and European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. It was held in Kathmandu, Nepal. The title of his keynote lecture was “Significance of Vi negative isolates of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi in causing typhoid fever.” He delivered another lecture entitled “Molecular diagnosis of infectious diseases” in preceding workshop.The conference was attended by delegates from 25

different countries including USA, Canada, China, Japan, UK, Germany, South Africa, France and India. He was also guest of honor in the concluding ceremony.

Visit of Mr Christiaan Robert Maas Senior Expert, PUM, NetherlandMr Christiaan Robert Maas visited Madinah Teaching Hospital from October 10 to 25, 2015. Main purpose of his visit was to analyse in detail the technical need of hospital in respect of staff, equipment and expertise, by improving hospital management with the help of health care experience from various Dutch hospitals. Dr Dimple Mustafa, Additional Medical Superintendent conducted the visit and gave a comprehensive presentation on the hospital and showed all departmental working in detail.

Mr Christiaan Robert was impressed by huge organization of Madinah Foundation, especially with the generosity of Chairman BOG Mian Muhammad Hanif (SI). He also appreciated that MTH is working with great missionary spirit towards patients free of cost. He committed for provision of technical support by the Hospitals from Netherland. The guest was presented with memento by Prof Dr A G Rehan, Medical Director.

Rector TUF attends the “3rd Vice Chancellors Forum of Islamic World”Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Rector TUF attended the “3rd Vice Chancellors Forum of Universities of Islamic World”, held in Islamabad on February 23-24, 2015. The mega event was jointly organized by COMSATS Institute of Information & Technology, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Pakistan, Higher Education Commission, Pakistan and Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW). The theme of the Forum was “Universities in the Islamic World: Facing Global Challenges”. Vice Chancellors, Presidents and Rectors from 55 Islamic Countries attend the event. Mr Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister of Planning and Development and

Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman HEC also addressed on the occasion. The Forum aimed at pooling resources including but not limited to offering scholarships for higher studies. It helped in establishing Virtual Centers of Excellence across the Islamic World. It provided a platform to the university leaders to formulate an agenda to cope with the rapidly changing environment and needs of global economy. It served as an inspiration for the participants to draw plans, programs and set targets for their respective institutions. It helped in establishing linkages and promote networking among the participating universities/ institutions.

School of Nutrition and Dietetics, The University of Faisalabad organized National Conference on “Nutritional Management of Geriatric Health Problems” in Saleem Campus on May 28, 2015. Prof Dr Abdul Majeed Rector of the University was the chief guest while Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Dean Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences was the convener of the conference. The objectives of the conference were to highlight the geriatric health problems and their dietary management, enhance the diligence ensuring adequate nutritional care of elderly and to establish a good liaison between academic and nutritional experts towards developing

good nutritional practices in geriatrics. This conference provided an opportunity for the researchers, scientists and medicos to discuss at length various health and nutritional problems of the elderly and to recommend their cost-effective solution through adequate nutritional care. The conference consisted of two scientific sessions. The first session was chaired by Prof Dr Faqir Muhammad Anjum (TI), Director, Institute of Home and Food Sciences, GC University, Faisalabad while Prof Dr Syed Jawwad Husain, Head School of Nutrition and Dietetics, TUF was Co-chairperson. Prof Dr Nighat Bhatty was the chairperson of second session and Dr Naheed Abbass was co-chairperson. Ms Faiqa

The University of Faisalabad Libraries organized a presentation on “TUF Libraries: Resources and Services” for the University Medical and Dental College on December 8, 2015 . A group of 12 new faculty members learnt about the print and electronic resources in medical sciences. They found the resources like Access Medicine, ebrary, Wiley Online Library, and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses valuable for teaching and research. This session helped the new faculty to see TUF Libraries as a first stop shop for their information and research needs.

Orientation on “TUF Libraries” for new medical studentsThe University of Faisalabad (TUF) Libraries organized a presentation on “TUF Libraries: Resources and Services” for the new medical students on December 14, 2015. More than 100 new students learnt about the value of library in learning, research and the sharing of knowledge. They found the video Libraries in the Internet Age interesting. This orientation helped the new students to differentiate between using a library and the Google for quality information and research.

International Conference on Medical Education (ICME) 2015

A seven-member delegation from University Medical and Dental College, The University of Faisalabad attended ICME 2015: Future challenges in health profession education. This international moot was held at Helic congress center, Istanbul, Turkey from 15th – 18th Oct 2015.Medical educationists from all over the world attended this conference including renowned leaders in health profession education such as Richard M Harden and John Dent. After the organizing institute, The University of Faisalabad had the maximum representation in terms of number of research papers presented. Out of seven members who attended this conference five of them presented papers on different topics that were highly appreciated. The papers presented included 1. “Embarking a curriculum change: Faculty perceptions

of medical school’s organizational readiness” by Prof Dr Tanzeela Khalid

2. “Team based learning in Pathology: Impact on test scores and student satisfaction” by Prof Dr Sadia Hameed

3. “TBL vs Didactic lecture: What do test scores say?” by Dr Shirza Nadeem

4. “Effect of nonacademic variables (Gender and previous system of Education, HSCE/ GCE) on medical student’s score” by Dr Saba Tariq

5. “Evaluation of cognitive levels and item writing flaws in pharmacology modular exam MCQs presented” by Dr Sundus Tariq.

The faculty also visited the transcontinental region famous for its mosques and rich cultural heritage. It was a wonderful learning experience and a delightfully proud moment for all.

Visit by Columnist of Nawa-i-WaqtA prominent columnist of Nawa-i-Waqt Prof Muhammad Yousaf Irfan visited the Ali Library on December 21, 2015. The Director of Press and Publications Mr Saleem Akhtar Kayani accompanied the guest and the Librarian Mr Muhammad Rizwan briefed him about the resources, services, and programs of the library. On this occasion, the library staff organized an exhibition of books about Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah at the Amin Campus. Prof Yousaf Irfan appreciated the availability of books about the history of Pakistan in the library.

The University of Faisalabad organized Pakistan’s First “International Women Dental Conference, Women in dentistry, the Trend Setters”, in Saleem Campus on April 10-12, 2015. The aim of the conference was to acknowledge the progress women have made in the field of Dentistry and to encourage more women to join this discipline and highlight the outstanding achievements by women in dentistry. The first ever of its kind conference participated by more than 500 female dental surgeons, doctors and BDS students from 13 different Dental Colleges of Pakistan. Particularly, Dr Ninette Banday, Director Dental Education Ministry of Health UAE, Prof Dr Tasleem Hosien, Fatima Jinnah Dental College Karachi, Dr Subuhi Ghani, Liaqat Institute of Health Sciences Hyderabad, Dr Kashif Imran, Principal Baqai Dental College Karachi, Brig (Retd) Dr Shahnaz Naseem and Brif (Retd) Dr Abida Aslam, Army Dental Corps, Col (Retd) Dr Iffat Batool, Sharif Medical & Dental College Lahore, Prof Dr Shamim Akhtar, Khyber College of Dentistry Peshawar, Prof Dr Irum Mushtaq, Principal Ayub Dental College Abbottabad, Dr Azmat Mumtaz and other renowned female dental surgeons, doctors and practitioners attended the mega event. The participants declared this conference a mile stone for the progress of discipline of Dentistry in the country. The 3-day conference consisted of Qiraat and Naat competition, Workshops, Scientific sessions, Poster competition, Table Clinics competition, Presentations Skills competition, Movie competition and Dress show. Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairperson Higher Education Commission was the chief guest of closing ceremony held in Saleem Auditorium on April 12, 2015. women are unable to join the profession, Dr Mukhtar Ahmed remarked. He also stressed to promote research culture in institutes particularly in medical sciences. He appreciated the role of The University of Faisalabad for promoting high quality professional education in the country and lauded the services of Mian Muhammad Hanif, Chairman BOG TUF in this regard. He congratulated the organizers of Pakistan’s First International Women Dental Conference. He said that more and more women should come in the field of dentistry as female dentists

can easily adjust their profession with domestic life with proper time management. Chairman HEC also inaugurated new Multidisciplinary Dental Laboratory in Madinah Teaching Hospital and Postgraduate Research Laboratory in Saleem Campus of the University. School of Rehabilitation Sciences, conducted Research Thesis Viva of DPT Final semester students on October 13, 2015. A total of 17 groups presented their research work in front of internal and external examiners. Each group was given 15 minutes for presentation followed by a question - answer session. Rector Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, TUF in his concluding remarks lauded the efforts of the students.

ORIC Directors agree to find ways for Mutual Cooperation in ResearchOffice of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), TUF organized a meeting of ORIC Directors of various universities and institutes of Faisalabad region in the Conference Room of TUF on December 29, 2015. The meeting was chaired by Rector, TUF Prof Dr Abdul Majeed. Prof Dr Abdul Haque, Director ORIC, TUF welcomed the guests and told about performance of ORIC. He briefed that a number of valuable projects were in process of evaluation at TUF. One project has started with financial support by HEC and others are underway with support of TUF. Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Dean Faculty of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences, TUF, speaking to the ORIC Directors, said that TUF had state- of- the-art research labs and related infrastructure for research activities. He stressed the need to encourage the students and to start joint practical implementation for research activities. He added that TUF would be pleased to extend its available facilities and infrastructure for this purpose. This linkage includes execution of industry-specific projects, collaborative research and development and commercialization of innovation. ‘A strong linkage ensures that the research and development activities in universities are oriented towards demand in the market and in the society’ he added. He told the Directors that our collaborative research activities would encourage and customize the student’s research training experience to enhance their career prospects as well as to increase overall collaboration between the universities and industry to strengthen R&D outcomes.It was agreed by all participants to hold such meetings on regular basis to share progress and experiences.

Faculty development is a continuous process and it makes teaching and learning dynamic. Through such development programs one can get updated with the changing dynamics of academia. Seized with the significance of this high value task, Quality enhancement Cell initiated a comprehensive faculty development program, where personalities from different departments would share their knowledge. In the first session held on 15th December 2015 Additional Registrar Mr Mahmmad Ashfaq gave his presentation on “Descriptive Statistics”. Faculty members from various departments attended in order to develop their research skills using the latest statistical techniques. Impact of Teacher’s DispositionA workshop on “Impact of a Teacher’s Disposition” under Professional Competency Enhancement Program (PCEP) by Quality Enhancement Cell was arranged on Friday 11, December 2015. Engr Muhammad Haroon, Lecturer School of Textile Engineering, focused on the impact of a teacher’s moral and intellectual attributes on the students and the society. Moreover, the disposition and role of an ideal teacher was discussed in the light of Quran and Teachings of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam).All the faculty and administrative staff appreciated the efforts of QEC and Engr Muhammad Haroon on delivering

such a constructive and comprehensive presentation.

Seminar on “Research Methods”A seminar on “Research Methods” was arranged by School of Management Studies on 23rd December 2015. Dr Kashif Ur Rehman from CBSR (Creative business and Social Research) visited TUF and gave a comprehensive lecture.Dr Kashif Ur Rehman holds the distinction of supervising 58 independent studies at MS/ PhD level. He brings along a teaching and research experience of over one and a half decade. UK based research indexation Scopus ranked him as number one researcher in Social Sciences in Pakistan

in 2011. HEC has honored Dr Kashif with Best University Teacher Award. He elucidated the current research practices being followed in Pakistan, international requirements, hitches involved and the comprehensive methodology for conducting research in a country like Pakistan. A good number of students, faculty members and members from other institutions attended the seminar.

Following the ongoing sessions under the Faculty Development program initiated by Quality Enhancement Cell, a session was conducted by Dr Muhammad Shoaib Khalid on 17th December 2015.Dr Muhammad Shoaib possesses high expertise in research work. Sharing knowledge on the topic”Research Methods”, the speaker elucidated the research standards, research activities, changing trends of research modes and the projected future of research techniques. Procedure and the hitches involved in the publication of papers in journals and presentation in conferences were also discussed. APS Martyrs united the whole NationA program in remembrance of Martyrs of Army Public School (APS) Peshawar was conducted in collaboration with Faisalabad Arts Council on December 10, 2015.Mr Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, DCO Faisalabad was the chief guest of the event. Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Rector, The University of Faisalabad, Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Dean Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, Mr Tariq Javed, Resident Director Faisalabad Arts Council, faculty members of the University and large number of students were present on the occasion.Chief Guest, Mr Noor-ul-Amin in his address expressed complete solidarity with the families of the martyrs and reiterated the determination to root out terrorism from the country.Dr Tariq Hashmi, GC University Faisalabad, Dr Tahir Siddiqi, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, and Mufti Muhammad Farooq, Director Riazul Jannah Islamic Complex addressed the audience.

The speakers expressed that due to the sacrifice of innocent students of Army Public School the nation had united to eliminate the menace of terrorism, the morale of nation is high and it is determined to defeat the enemies of Pakistan. They also paid a rich tribute to the great sacrifices of Pakistan Armed Forces in operation Zarb-e-Azb, and showed solidarity with them.Students of the University presented national songs and tableau to pay tribute to the APS martyrs which brought tears in the eyes of the audience. Mr Noor-ul-Amin appreciated the efforts of the TUF students and announced cash prize for them. The program concluded with National Anthem. Rector Prof Dr Abdul Majeed represented The University of Faisalabad in an international conference on “Journey through Print to Digital Information and Beyond” at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) This conference brought together the international speakers from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and United States and about 450 participants from Pakistan. The conference was inaugurated by the Education Minister Rana Mashhood

Ahmad Khan. Five Vice Chancellors from public and private universities addressed the audience. The Conference Chair of the South Asian Libraries Conference (SALC) Dr Muhammad Ramzan established four think tanks for the librarians in South Asia. Outstanding performance of School of Optometry in 1st International Conference

The students of Doctor of Optometry, 8th semester, Ms Kalsoom Rani, Senior Coordinator, School of Optometry and Ms Rubina Kousar attended the 4th National and 1st International Conference of Optometry in Pakistan held in collaboration with Eastern Mediterranean Council of Optometry (EMCO) on April 12-13, 2015 at Islamabad. It was an international forum which provided Pakistan optometry institutes to project themselves. Ms Kalsoom Rani, Vice President of Pakistan Optometry Society played a major role in arrangements of conference and involved students of OD 8th semesters actively in the conference. Ms Kalsoom Rani presented a paper on the affect of the functional vision component (color, contrast, visual acuity) on high spectacle correction. It was a new aspect to highlight the cause of reduced contrast with spectacle correction in high refractive errors. The participants appreciated the new facts and idea of inclusion of functional vision assessment in routine examination Ms Rubina Kousar unfolded her survey on optometry faculty professional teaching training skills in different optometry institutes and also presented the model of ideal optometric setup Hina Nasir, Student of OD, displayed a video documentary titled, A chromatic world, on one of the school for blind in Faisalabad and unmasked the life of

students in blind’s schools, establishing the fact that many low vision persons are treated as blind in our society. It was a very heart touching video prepared by Samaha Jhangir and Hina Nasir. A humorous skit was staged by Hafiza Samina, Rabia saeed, Nimra Gul and Rizwa Falak on the basis of true facts regarding contact lens mis use. Fatima Iqbal one of the bright students of OD, made a presentation on ocular complication with snake bite which was appreciated by all. Fatima Iqbal was awarded a Gold Medal on her outstanding performance in academics. The overall impact of School of Optometry, The University of Faisalabad was out standing in the conference.

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations day that aims to promote an understanding of people with disability. It provides encouragement and support to the disable in order to protect their dignity and promote their well being. Every year disability organizations, businesses, governments and the community come together at events across the country to mark the occasion and celebrate the achievements of people with disability. This effort draws awareness of the persons with disabilities

and the problems they face in their everyday lives. TUF Rehabilitation Society in collaboration with Special Education Centers, Faisalabad also observed this day. The promotion was made through dramas, songs and performances by children with disabilities. Officials from special education departments, political figures and prominent personalities attended the event to uplift the spirits of the participants. Prizes were also awarded by TUF Rehabilitation Society.

The Anti-Corruption Day is observed annually to raise people’s awareness about the costs of corruption and the role of the United Nation against corruption. This day serves as a powerful call for action against corruption

and the platform for government, civil society, media and general public to engage and address challenges that contribute to encourage corruption.Character Building Society TUF also observed Anti-Corruption day on 9th December 2015. Chief guests of the event were Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Dean Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences and Major (R) Muhammad Saeed Head of School of Computational Sciences while Dr Abdul Hayee, Deputy Director IT at WAPDA/FESCO graced the event as guest speaker. Dr Abdul Hayee gave an informative presentation on use of information technology in context of current scenario and stressed on the learning and usage of technology for

well being of humanity. He said that being able to use a computer had become an increasingly essential skill and having access to the internet was a crucial resource in today’s digital era. He suggested that to increase the Computer literacy across the country, Information Technology trainings must be essential part of our curricula at school level particularly in the rural areas. Basics of Teaching and Learning (BTL)A three day course on Basics of teaching and learning (BTL) was organized from 8th to 10th December, 2015 at UMDC. Department of Community Medicine organized awareness seminars on “Prevention of Dengue Fever”. These seminars were organized in University College for Women, University Cambridge School and The University of Faisalabad. Highly qualified doctors of Community Medicine Department imparted health education regarding prevention of Dengue Fever. The audience were

informed that dengue mosquito breeds on clean water, so collection of such water in nearby living spaces should be avoided. We should cover our body parts especially at ‘Dawn and Dusk’ and apply mosquito repellents. Queries and myths associated with this disease were answered. Flyers containing preventive information of dengue fever were distributed among students.

1st Alumnae Reunion at UMDCUMDC Alumnae Association organized its first meet in Saleem Auditorium of The University of Faisalabad on June 13, 2015. Prof Dr Abdul Majeed Rector of the University was the chief guest. Patient safety is now recognized in many countries, with global awareness fostered by the WHO. School of Nursing (SON), MTH observed ‘World Patient Safety Day’ highlighting the importance of patient safety. A program was organized in auditorium of Madinah Teaching Hospital on 9th December. Prof Dr Rana Bashir Ahmad, MS, MTH, Prof Dr Khalid Mehmood Yahya, HoD Medicine and Ms Seraphine Emmanuel, Senior Instructor, School in their lectures elaborated that improving patient safety was an ethical imperative for healthcare providers, individually and collectively. Error prevention and safety promotion must be the job of everyone who works in

a healthcare system, they added. Prof Dr AG Rehan, Principal UMDC in his address stressed that the Patient Safety must be of prime importance due to an increasing number of patient safety issues globally. MTH staff is committed to coordinate, facilitate and accelerate patient safety improvements, he said. The event aimed to spread the message amongst MTH staff dealing directly with patients especially nurses and paramedics. Students of SON presented a tableau showing how patient care can be improved and how patients can be saved from major hazards by following simple SOPs.

Third Graduation ceremony of The School of Nursing, MTH was held in Saleem Campus, The University of Faisalabad. H.E Syed Khalid Abdul Qadir Mansoor Al-Gillani, Baghdad was the Chief Guest. In connection with Shab e Meraaj, a ‘Mehfil-e-Milad’ was held at The University of Faisalabad on 5th May 2015. A large number of guests including the prominent Naat reciters faculty members and students attended the Milad ceremony.Mukhtar auditorium presented a spectacular view and the audience was fascinated by the melodious voices of the Naat reciters and the beautifully decorated stage.

Audience, as a whole, renewed the pledge to follow in the footsteps of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) by spreading his message of patience, tolerance and peace. After the ceremony dinner was served. Chairman Board of Governors Mian Muhammad Hanif was the chief guest and was accompanied by vice Chairman Board of Governors Mian Muhammad Rasheed as well.

A seminar in commemoration of Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Brailvi (Rehmat-U-Allah Alaih) was arranged on 2nd Dec 2015. Rector Dr Abdul Majeed presided.Ahmed Raza Khan Brailvi (Rehmat-U-Allah Alaih), also known as Ala’Hazarat, was a Muslim scholar, Sufi, and reformer. Allama Muhammad Farooq Alqadri, Director Riaz Aljannah Islamic Institute Faisalabad dilated on the sterling services rendered by Imam Ahmad Raza Khan

Brailvi (Rehmat-U-Allah Alaih) for the cause of Islam, by writing on numerous topics including law, religion, philosophy and the sciences. He was a prolific author and among his many books Fattawa Rizwaia, Hadayake Bakhshish and Tauheed Al Iman are noteworthy. A singular service offered by him was Kanzul Iman, an Urdu translation of the holy Quran.

Mehfil-e Mushaera on “Manaqab-e- Ehl-e-Baet (Alaehim-us-salam)” for females was organized on October 21, 2015.Renowned poetesses Dr Saeeda Resham, Ms Naseem Sehraee, Mrs Gulfam Naqvi, Mrs Ambreen Ashar, Sajida Hashimi, Farhat Shehzad, Prof Razia Sajjad, Sameena Raees, Mrs Bushra Naz, Dr Ansa Saeed Ahmed and Rubina Kausar presented Manaqib and paid rich tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (Alaeh-i-ssalaam) and Ehl-e-Baet (Alaehim-us-salam) on their sacrifices rendered to restore the integrity of Islam. School of Arabic and Islamic Studies-TUF also arranged

a Mushaera on the Youm-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Imam Hussain (Alaeh-i-ssalam) for males. Prominent poets attended the event and offered munaqib. Naat and Quiz CompetitionTo commemorate the birth anniversary of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) a Naat and Quiz competition was arranged by TUF Literary Society on 22nd December 2015.The auditorium presented a spectacular view and the audience was fascinated by the melodious voices of the Naat reciters, who expressed their immense love for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) by reciting beautiful Naats. Akmal Shahzad from BSCS, Muhammad Bilal Hameed from BEE and Muhammad Zulqarnain from

BSCS won the first, second and third positions respectively. The winners were awarded prizes and certificates. A quiz completion was also arranged in which cash prizes were awarded to the winners. Professor Nazeer Hussain Vice Principal Government Islamia College Sargodha Road and Professor Muhamamd Ayub Bhatti Government College of Commerce Abdullah Pur judged the event. Director Press and Publication Mr Saleem Kayani was the chief guest.

Human Health in the Light of the Teachings of Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)

Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), under Professional Competency Enhancement Program (PCEP) arranged a lecture on “Human Health in the Light of the Teachings of Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam)” by Dr Ijaz Tabassum.He unveiled his research conducted in the field of Barley crop and revealed health benefits associated with Barley.

He talked about different methods to consume barley effectively to eliminate a number of diseases like blood pressure, diabetes, blood cholesterol etc. The faculty and senior management found the lecture informative and appreciated the management for arranging such a beneficial lecture.

Seminar on Death Anniversary of Hazrat Data Gunj Buksh (Rehmat-U-Allah Alaih)

A seminar on the Wisal of Hazrat data Gunj Baksh (Rehmat-U-Allah Alaih) was arranged on 30th November 2015. Various aspects of his personality and services rendered to Islam were discussed by the speaker Allama Yousaf Nakshbandi. Hazrat Data’s book “Kashaf Al Majoob” continues to be a milestone for achieving personal piety

and for reforming the society in the light of Islam. The speaker went on to say that knowledge without practice is of no avail. Rector Dr Abdul Majeed along with other faculty members attended the seminar.

Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies arranged a seminar on the Martyrdom of Hazrat Syedna Imam Hassan (Alaeh-i-ssalaam) and Syedna Imam Hassan Askari (Alaeh-i-ssalaam).Professor Dr Mehfooz Ahmed, HOD Department of Islamic Studies was the chief guest. Dr Syed Azfar Haider Shah was the keynote speaker who explained in detail the life circumstances of these noble personalities, who serve as torch bearers for the coming generations.Participants of the seminar were moved by the style of the speaker.
