NEWS DIARY DATES

Tuesday 3rd: HUB Healthy Lunches Wednesday 4th: HUB Thursday 5th HUB Canteen Friday 6th Monday 9th Breakfast program UPCOMING EVENTS End of year Presentations 12th December

Caring, Confident and Respectful Learners

To Parents, Carers and Community

Members,

Dear Parents, Carers and Community

You may be aware that there is a stop work

meeting for NSW Teachers Federation Members

on Thursday 5th December. This meeting is

scheduled to start at 8:45am (at Hillston or Hay).

The school will be open as normal. Unfortunately,

there may be some impact to normal classes until

after recess.

School reports are currently being written by

teachers and will be given out at Presentation

Night. If you have any questions in relation to

your child’s report please contact the school to

make time for an interview.

On Friday 29th November I travelled to Broken Hill

to the Principal and Parents lunch hosted at

Willyama High School. The event was catered by

VET hospitality students from across several

schools. Ivanhoe student Kate Lauristen-Graham

worked in front of house prepar-

ing the tables for service as well

as making and delivering a

variety of non-alcoholic

beverages. The event was the

culmination of three days of

learning and Kate was able to

participate in a work placement

event of significant scale. Well

done Kate!

TIME TRAVEL

If I could travel in time I would travel to…….

The future, to the year 2029. I will be 23 years old. I would like to see if I am a famous Youtuber. I would

like to see if I have a family. I do not want to be alone for the rest of my life.

I will not be living in Ivanhoe. I would have moved to Tonga where

I live in a fancy Bungalow. I would hopefully have gotten a Record

Deal for my Brother Kylan and a flash car for Lionel. I would have

bought my Parents a house.

The Future would be slightly different. There would be more environmental prob-

lems, like not enough water. We would eat more vegetarian food, hav

Time travel story If I could travel in time I would travel back in time to………………………………..when my nana and pop was

still alive so I could meet them and spend more time with them. I would like to go out to town with

them, have a meal at the pub and talk about what life was like when she was little. I would like to find

out her hobbies. I would like to go out bush with Pop to look for emu eggs or go

hunting.

I think the town would look different. It would have more shops and a lot more

people. I think the main street would have looked fancy with new shops like the

café and the IGA and Wendy’s

Servo. Everything would have been slower and happi-

er. Cars would have looked cool and phones were

different, if they had phones.

Student Representative Council

Next year the school will be running our own SRC. So, we will need representatives from

each stage.

Quote from SRC: “Students are happier and participate in their education more effectively

when their ideas are listened to and their opinions valued. Schools also benefit when

students are involved in their own learning and the school’s operation. A Student

Representative Council (SRC) is one structure which can assist students and schools in

achieving this idea.”

Mrs Ostler would like all nominations by this Thursday 4th December and voting will

happen next Monday 9th December, so we can announce the SRC on presentation night.

The High School Representatives will be voted in to fill the SRC officers’ positions: Leader,

Chairperson and a Secretary.

COMMUNITY ITEMS ITEMS FOR PUBLICATION

Items for publication in the school newsletter need to be submitted to the school (via email or in person) by 4pm Thursday, prior to publication. This will ensure items are included in the next newsletter. Phone - 02 6995 1108 Email - [email protected]

Due to large numbers of community advertisements coming into the school to be added to the newsletter, the cost is escalating. We would like to continue to produce large and colourful copies but to make this possible we will need to charge a fee for each advertisement. $5.00 for a one off or $20 for a month.

$20 a month or $5 per ad as a one off.

Community Notices are accepted in good faith and at the discretion of the Principal.
