Beach Preach

Don’t forget to write!

I remember often hearing this exhortation from friends and family as I was growing up. They wanted to remind us of their love and friendship and that with that love and friendship came an insatiable desire to hear the news of what was happening in our lives.

But life gets busy and it becomes more and more of a challenge to fi nd the time to write. And life becomes routine and the perception becomes more and more prevalent in our minds that there is nothing new about the news. Does anyone really want to hear what is happening in our lives?

The answer is a resounding, “YES”!!

Any relationship, whether it be friend, family, spouse, assembly, human, or heavenly, longs for news because the com-munication that communicates the news facilitates communion, which is the life-blood of any relationship. Especially when that relationship involves someone who we desire to regularly pray for, or who desires to regularly pray for us.

I need to remember this! Impressions, as well as all communication from EPI, needs to be coming to you much more regularly. After all, if Everyday Publication truly is a work of God...then what isn’t news?

Update - Believers Bible Commentary - Congo Swahili Edition

More than 5,000 copies of volume 1 of the Congo Swahili translation of William MacDonald’s Believers Bible Commentary - New Testament have been printed and were delivered to our warehouse in Port Colborne in February. Due to renewed fi ghting in the area near their ul-timate destination in northeast Congo we delayed shipment, waiting for news that calm had been restored. That encouraging word has now been received and preparations are being made to send 3 pallets (3,600 commentaries) on their way as soon as possible.

Gertrud is still hard at work on volume 2 of this fi ve volume series. Although challenged by the aches and pains of advancing age she continues to “...press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 3: 14. Please be equally steadfast in prayer for the Lord’s continued encouragement and enabling.

The classic Everyday Publications title, Ross Rainey’s Capsule Comments on the Cults has been updated, expanded, and republished as Ways That Seem Right. This book is a valu-able resource for both believer and non-believer alike. How, you might ask? Let’s let the book speak for itself:

“It was nearly 3,000 years ago when King Solomon wrote these sobering words: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 16:25). In our world today, there is no shortage of religious “ways” being advanced. In fact, the Scriptures predicted that, in these last days, false teachers would ‘grow worse and worse, deceiving and being de-ceived.’ This book explores some of the leading cults that are quickly gaining momentum and how those swept up in these systems will ultimately discover a dead end. Here is a resource that will arm the Christian against the wiles of the devil; it will also equip believers to point oth-ers to the Lord, who once said, ‘I am THE WAY, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’ (John 14:6). Good news: JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONE WAY UP.”

Capsule Comments - New & Improved!

Facing Death - Also New & Improved!!

Dr. Frederick Taylor’s much appreciated work, Facing Death: Before & After has also been revised, updated, and republished as Facing Death - How to Prepare for the Valley.

Why should you read a book about death? Once again, let’s let the book speak for itself: “Before you fi nish reading this, nearly 105 people will die. Within the hour, about 6,316 will take their fi nal breath. Will you be one of them? Sadly, many of the people who die today will do so having made no preparations for what lies beyond the grave. It doesn’t have to be that way. Before your life comes to an end you can enter into the calm assurance that King David had as he looked forward to “dwelling in the house of the Lord forever”. Then, you can share in David’s confi dence as you face the darkest hour of your life: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me.” This book will help you – and the ones you love – prepare for the valley.”

The New Testament Church - Even a Harlow classic can be New & Improved!!!

Dr. Harlow was a firm believer in the power of the printed page. He used to say that writing a book would allow a man speak to far more people in his lifetime than he could ever speak to face to face and, he could keep on speaking to many more people even after the Lord has called him home. Now his work, The Church of the New Testament is speaking to new genera-tions of believers re-published as The New Testament Church.

This book’s statement of purpose is as follows: “The Church is God’s greatest building project on the earth today. It is not made of brick and mortar, for ‘the Most High does not dwell in houses made by hands’. Rather the Church is being carefully constructed with living stones, believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the very habitation of God!” (Eph. 2: 22)

Though these “stones” have some pretty rough edges, and though the storms of persecution may beat against her, nothing will stop the Lord Jesus from making His Church a true master-piece. But...if the Lord Jesus is to be truly glorified by His Church here and now, how are His believers to properly function within it? Thankfully, the Lord left us a blueprint, a pattern. It can be found in the...New Testament.

For the sisters - Act 1

“A frightened 9 year old girl living with a father’s turbulent alcohol addiction...a 16 year old rebellious runaway.. an empty young wom-an aching for love. These are just a few of the stages Kathie Renaud passed through in her first few decades. With transparent honesty and moving insight, she shares the lessons she has learned in the Spring of her life.”

Her story will encourage you and prove that no matter where or how your life began, no matter how many mistakes you have made, the Lord Jesus is right there just waiting for you to turn to Him.

Lessons Jesus Taught Me...in Spring is the unveiling of a woman trans-formed by a merciful, forgiving God and jam-packed with valuable, life-altering lessons learned along the way. It is a heart-warming testimony of pain, shame, and redemption. You may even see yourself in it.

It is Kathie’s deep desire that women of all ages will read about her journey and take from it some of the lessons - without having to suffer the same consequences - because then her story will have been richly worth the telling.”

This one-year devotional guide for women describes itself as “...an invi-tation to join the author in pursuit of God. But this will be no stroll in the park. Rather, this walk will take you ever higher, up challenging ascents as together you follow on to know the Lord. In the words of F. B. Meyer, ‘perse-verance, tenacity of purpose, a refusal to be content with anything short of the best are indispensable conditions for the attainment of the highest.’ The reward for your effort? Vivid metaphors will reveal new vistas of truth and fresh glimpses of the loveliness of the Lord Jesus.”

This book has been lovingly crafted by Eunice Free. Eunice is one of Ev-eryday Publications treasured jewels, a gifted editor who freely gives of her time to come alongside this ministry. She is a woman with a passionate de-sire to know the Lord Jesus Christ as intimately as possible. She is equally as passionate to make Him known to as many as possible.

This book has been very well received, even the sisters here at EPI are con-stantly buying copies for their friends and family. Not only is it very popular among the sisters but I predict it will soon be very popular among the men as well! Why? It’s very simple: CHRISTMAS IS COMING!!
