Looking forward for that deeper ocean where I can race in the vastest Swimming Pool.

I joined AIESEC since 2013 when I was still at the EILM university at Ebene and at that time my LCP was our actual MCP, Irfaan. One day he just approached me and said I need someone like you in AIESEC. Since that particular moment I have learned a lot about AIESEC and I’m still learning. The Unheards

IGCDP WINTER PEAK

The UNHEARDS project was a report/journalism and photography based project. The interns recorded the work being done in the workshops of various projects, thus showing what AIESEC is doing in Mauritius. They interviewed, took photos and videos of the NGO’s and the other interns as well as the members on how their experience was since their arrival. They had to create blogs, which was a summary showing what they did in Mauritius and how that experi-ence enriched their lives and may motivate others too.

Save a dog Save a Life

Save a Dog, Save a Life is a project in which AIESEC UTM aims at sensitizing Mauritian about how the stray dogs inuence the society as well as taking concrete steps to remedy the situa-tion. This project revolves around the protection of stray dogs and the environment of Mauri-tius by trying to reduce the rate of stray dogs in the country. Such aims can be achieved through sterilization and mass awareness campaigns. Adoption campaigns also forms part of the project and these will allow the strays to nd a foster/forever shelter.

The Helping Hands

Our basic mission is to protect and promote the rights of children by ensuring that they are empowered. We also want to support them in achieving their full potential and be representa-tive in all spheres of life. The Helping Hand project helps in breaking the barriers, which means that it teaches the society to look at children in a new way. We believe that, even though they are still small kids, they can still bring happiness, be fully creative and make full use of their potential. We want to let them know that they are not alone and that they can have access to one of the most important basic need, which is “love.”

Smart Agriculture

IGCDP WINTER PEAK

Smart Agriculture aims at exposing international interns from all over the world to the concept of sustainable agriculture for them to be able to contribute to their country’s food security through establishment of home gardens. The participants are exposed to each pillar of agricul-ture through courses followed by a site visit relative to the agricultural sector they have covered. After each site visit, the participants are expected to write a comparative report from what they have learnt from the site visit and what happens in their individual country. This promotes the acceptance and adoption of Sustainable Agriculture among the young genera-tion for meeting the challenge of sustainable and climate – resilient food security.Environmental Conservation MauritiusPollution is created mostly by human actions, but can also be a result of natural disasters. Pollution has a detrimental eect on any living organism in the environment, making it virtual-ly impossible to sustain life. The Environmental conservation project’s aim is to maintain the natural resources for the future generation. It is of utmost importance to create awareness to the Mauritian public as well as students who are the future leaders of tomorrow. Hence, through this project we aim at targeting 30% of the student population: primary, secondary as well as tertiary institutions .Through this, the society will also be motivated in seeing young-sters trying to make an impact on the protection of the environment.

Choose Life Not Drugs

Drugs and alcohol are two burning issues in today’s world. This is because of the lack of aware-ness among people. This project will be a starting point to making a dierence in a practical way. We plan to work at grassroots level to create awareness about why people have recourse to drugs and alcohol and their nefarious inuences on people. Our vision is to have a healthier and safer society which is well informed about drugs and alcohol; where adversely people can get help promptly and eectively.

RECRUITMENT

AIESEC Mauritius ocially launched its recruitment on the 10th august 2015 with the goal to look for new members to shape the future of Mauritius. Each year, AIESEC Mauritius recruit new members in order to nd leaders of the future generation. There were three stages to which the applicants went through in order to know about their competencies. Neha Dunneram, the president of August recruitment of AIESEC UTM motivated other students to join AIESEC and bring a change to this world and she ensured to see the maximum applicants.

The rst stage consisted of the registration and then the second one was the session of group work. On the rst day, the members did not know each other so they introduced themselves and they were then divided into groups to do team work and collaborate with each other. It was not an easy task for them as being new members and doing something new in a new environment.Their rst task was to build a strong tower with newspapers that would not fall down, which required having a creative mind. Using their communication skills, they planned and executed a plan to which helped to successfully build the tallest tower possible. Moreover, they were again divided into groups to discuss about a particular theme namely: "how drugs are aecting people worldwide" and "unemployment in the country" and many others.

The activities were extremely challenging as it was giving them a chance to recognise their talent and how to lead the team as a leader. Finally, the third stage was the interview which regrouped around 43 members.

On a conclusive note, AIESEC UTM had a great response concerning the number applicants ,it was indeed a great opportunity to see so many members who are motivated and determined to bring a change.

SEPTEMBER INDUCTION

Many activities were organised on that day. It started with some jives, which is part of our everyday life now. Then, the EB Invictus and some MC narrated their wonderful journey. After-wards, small groups were created where every member of a department came and explain their department to the newcomers.

The best part was when newcomers were asked what was their vision and what they want to do for the best of the world. A new motivating team for the AIESEC UTM was about to be created. Not to forget the punishment session, where all those not participating for jives and the late comers were punished.

The induction was indeed helpful for all newcomers where they were no more lost about AIESEC. They learnt new things. It was when a family was created and new bonds were made.

On the 13th September 2015, a new oppor-tunity opened up to all the newbie in AIESEC. The induction was conducted to educate the newcomers about the family, the history, the values of AIESEC and the aims.

MONTHLY LCM

AIESEC UTM hosted its Local Committee Meeting on the 4th November. Where important information was conveyed.

AIESEC UTM hosted its Local Committee Meeting on the 4th November. We were informed that AIESEC UTM was being reengineered and a complete reform would shake our very grounds. In view of bringing to life our LC, the members that were inactive, meaning those who did not have the passion to participate fully in any of the activities organised had their status terminated. Our family is now a handful of 51 active, devoted and trustworthy members, has nished rebuilding, evolving and optimising itself and is ready to ride on a new wave of challenges and face them because we has a vision ‘To become the best LC in Mauritius’ and it all begins with ‘Each and Everyone’s Contribution’.The long-awaited ‘Halloween Party’ was cancelled and we were also made aware of the fact that two of our members were unfortunately expelled from AIESEC because of billing issues conducted from that very same event in accordance with the good governance and integrity bill the Government of Mauritius has discussed in parliament. For our AIESEC movement, it means we must get legally valid receipts for all expenses and sources of revenue. We UTM AIESECers believe in instilling this transparency to abide by the legislation.

On a closing note, new roles have been attributed to some of our faithful members:

IGCDP OCPs AND THEIR PROJECTS

The Helping HandsOCP: Ludmilla Doorye6 Members

This project was already implemented in AIESEC UTM, and seeing its success last peak, I wanted to be its OCP, and improve what was lacking, since there is always room for improvement and to make it more successful. This project is teaching me how to keep calm, really calm. I really don't have a message to pass on, because I always send out messages to everyone who needs me, but through this project, one gets to learn that there are some people who are more in need than us, and do always help them.

Bet Against DiabetesOCP: Hassan Mustan6 Members

This project will enhance the students of UTM to sensitise people about diabetes and encour-age future leaders in out LC. From this project, I can conrm that not only me, but also everyone who is collaborating are learning about preserving our health not only with the cautions consumption of sugar but about health in general. The message is that: We need to have a healthy Mauritius and it starts from us to make people aware that we care for them

Drugs has become more accessible in Mauritius and I believe that as youngsters, we must contribute for a better future for the next generation. Working on this project has increased my knowledge concerning drugs and the everyday life of an addict. My leadership skills as well are developed.Drugs are not the solution to a person's problem. Instead, this will worsen it.

Pollution is the addition to the ecosystem of something which has a detrimental eect on it. The project aim is to encourage people to protect their environment by implementing the concept of reduce, reuse and recycle .Intensive cleaning campaigns and awareness will be done! Without pollution control, the waste products from consumption, heating, agriculture, manufacturing, transportation and other human activities, whether they accumulate or disperse, will degrade the environment. Without forgetting, we have to preserve the beauty of the beaches and the coral thus a life changing experience awaiting you all.

The Diabetes project began in October as one among the other projects. The OCP of this proj-ect is Hassan Mustan and the president of the NGO is Rani Balloo. On the 4th of November, the NGO Diabetes Parent Support Group organised a sensitisation campaign at the University of Technology of Mauritius about Diabetes, where many activities were involved. Firstly, there was the launching ceremony of the future leaders to ght against diabetes. Certicates were attributed to participants. A small gathering was held to thank the guest and participants. Afterward, everything was set up to conduct several test about blood sugar and Blood pres-sure. Many students of the University collaborated to make this campaign a success. Some were lling forms, others were testing the blood of people and lastly we had those checking the Blood pressure. Many students, teachers and administrative sta went through the several tests. Many of them took the challenge to undergo those test even though they were afraid of the result.

DIABETES EVENT AT UTM AND TERRE ROUGE

Diabetes Parent Support Group and AIESEC UTM has been creating a marvelous relationship event to event, where the president itself Mrs. Rani, is being part of the family. After that UTM event, the next stage was at Cite Atlee with a marvelous team of two local committees (UOM & UTM) with leader as Sinha. In association with the Lions Club of Ebene and Cite Atlee Sports Club a very successful event was produced. The event was held at 21 November 2015

After this successful event, another one was held at Terre Rouge on the 15th of November. Again, we could witness the devotion and willingness of many youngsters from AIESEC who came even though being in examination period, working together and helping to bring an awareness to people living in Terre Rouge. These youth were recompensed for their hard work.Surely, we can say that DPSG (Diabetes Parent Support Group ) is doing a great job by doing these campaigns all around in Mauritius to make people aware of the dierent types of diabe-tes. Little action and creating awareness could change one’s life in this modern lifestyle. There is a saying that goes: “Prevention is better than cure”, which is what DPSG is trying to do for the betterment of a healthy population.
