Class Requests A reminder that we would like to offer parents the
opportunity to offer any specific thoughts which they would
like school staff to consider when forming classes.
Consideration of social, emotional, physical or academic
factors from parents will support the knowledge that
teachers have of each student.
Teachers will form classes on a range of factors with the main
aim of having your child have a happy and productive
future year of learning. If you would like to have your
thoughts considered, the only way that this will take place is if
you write a letter addressed to The Principal of Bilambil PS.
These can be delivered via the front office or via email at
[email protected] Please feel free to talk to
your child’s current teacher about this but understand that
only written correspondence will be formally considered.
Please understand that this is not an invitation to choose your
child’s teacher for next year. Which teachers are teaching
which years has not been finalised yet and no requests will
be considered without appropriate supporting evidence.
Anyone coming/
leaving? School staff are currently
configuring the class structure
that we think will best suit the
school for 2019. If you are aware
of anyone who may be coming
or leaving our school in 2018,
please contact the school
office and let us know.
Thank you!
Thank you Scripture
teachers! Scripture for 2018 has finished
and we would like to thank our
six catholic and non-
denominational scripture
teachers who helped make this
year’s program a great success.
Scripture will resume in Term 2 in
2019.

Term 4 - Week 6, 22 November 2018
Kindergarten 2019 Orientation Program This year’s Orientation Program is up and running with much
success. There are two more Tuesday sessions and in Week 8 ,
Tuesday 4th December, there will be an afternoon tea for all
2019 Kindy parents at 3.15 pm. We anticipate 55 students
starting in Kindergarten in 2019. This should mean that we will
have 3 Kindy classes next year.
Lost Property There is an amazing amount of clothing left over from winter in
our lost property box. This can be found near the Music Room
at the stage end of the COLA. All clothes which had student’s
names in them have been returned but the massive amount
left is currently unclaimed.
At the end of this term, we will be distributing these clothes to
either the used clothing uniform shop or charity organisations so
please come to collect your clothes before then.
Early Stage One David Fleays Wildlife Park
Excursion After reading stories about possums, emus, wombats, dingoes
and cockatoos, we thought we should see these fantastic
Australian animals and birds up close. So, on Friday 9th
November, we headed off to David Fleay’s Wildlife Pare at
West Burleigh. Here we were met by Ranger Bindi. We got to
meet a Shingle-Back Lizard (that looked like it had two heads)
called Rosie, we learnt about the park and animal habitats.
Bindi had eggs, a fur and a snake skin for us to feel and discuss,
before we headed out to explore the park.
Kindergarten showed amazing skill at spotting camouflaged
animals and excitedly pointed out a Cassowary and a Tree-
Kangaroo that weren’t very easy to see. We loved the
presentation where we got to meet a Tawny Frogmouth, a Ring
-Tailed Possum and a Feather-Tailed Glider.
The creatures in the nocturnal house were very hard to see,
except the Hopping Mice, which we all agreed would be very
cute pets!
We were very lucky to see the
enormous crocodile being
fed. We loved looking at the
Dingoes, Brolgas, Emus,
mother and joey Koala,
Kangaroos, Wallabies and
Cassowaries.
What a fantastic day of
learning and fun!

Parking in the Kiss’n
Drop Bay & No Right
Turn Thank you to all parents/carers
for ensuring our kiss and drop
off zone is a NO PARKING
area.
If you need to leave your car,
please park in the Jets car
park or in the pre-school or
road car parking spaces
available.
Unfortunately, there have
been several incidents lately
where parents/carers have
parked and left their car in the
kiss and drop zone. This is very
dangerous and does not
allow the process to be safe
and effective.
Also, a reminder that parents/
carers or friends dropping off
or collecting students through
the Kiss and Drop area should
never turn right. This is a
potentially dangerous area as
our pedestrian crossing is
located there. We ask all
drivers to please obey the
street signs and only turn left
when leaving the area.
Thank you!

We had a great time on our
excursion to Byron Bay. We
split into two groups and had
to walk up the to the
Lighthouse from Wategos
Beach. There were a lot of
stairs. It was a great view from
the top and we got to do
activities with the Rangers and
see inside the Lighthouse.
When we walked back down
to the beach we got to do
some fun activities with Mrs.
Robins. We built 3D sculptures
of Sea Creatures using sand
and rocks and were able to
get our feet wet. We played
some beach sports and it was
good to play games on the
sand.

What we liked about our excursion?
I enjoyed learning about how Park Rangers look after the
environment. I also enjoyed getting to know about more
endangered species. Sommer
I liked the beach activities and experiencing the awesome
view from the lighthouse and lookout. Ella

Chappy Gav's Gab
Don't worry everyone! I
haven't gone anywhere! I've
just lacked the time to get my
next edition of Gav's Gab into
the newsletter.
We've had two Canteen
Kitchen Rulz teams this term.
The boys group really started
to work together and they
made some yummy food. The
staff were treated to scones
with jam and cream one
week, and choc-chip cookies
another week. The boys loved
their own cooking too!
My new team has started with
a bang. It's ok, the kitchen is
still in one piece! The team has
combined to cook food in
really good time, and they
don't mind washing and
wiping up (parents of these
four take note of that last
comment). This week we
made some pizzas for the
class. Mr Jenkins thought they
were the best ever. Mrs
Robbins loved them so much
that Domino's, Pizza Hut, etc.
have lost their gig for the pizza
party and we will be the
caterers. 18 pizzas in 2hrs,
BRING IT ON! This term I've also
had the privilege of
meeting families and students
of Kindergarten 2019. After the
meet and greet I've been in
the classes getting to know
the students and help out a
bit. Awwww, so cute!
Have a great week everyone.

Raffle Rustle Up It’s your last chance to buy – and sell – tickets for our major
raffle.
There are three ginormous baskets of goodies up for grabs.
Tickets have been sent home with some families already
returning for more booklets to sell. Thank you to everyone who
has bought and sold tickets so far. The child who sells the most
tickets will win a small prize too!
All raffle books need to be returned by November 30, sold or
unsold.
The raffle will be drawn on December 3. Winners will be notified.
It’s a big week coming up for your P&C…
Hot Diggety The good ol’ Bunnings BBQ will
be working in our favour on
Saturday 1st December with
all proceeds coming to our
awesome little school!!! Yay!!!
There is a catch however – we
need to cook it. If you can
spare us an hour or two on the
day please come along –
better still, let us know in
advance by sending in a note
with your child what time you
plan to pop along so we can
make sure we spread our
helpers out across the day so it
is a fun day for everyone. In
the past it’s been a lot of fun
and an easy way to meet
some friendly new people. As
a bonus, you get to know that
you’ve helped raise a stack
load of money that will be
spent on our kids and
teachers.
…. All this follows our final P&C
meeting of the year held
yesterday (Wednesday 21
November). We held our
meeting a little later and were
treated to a light supper
thanks to our fabulous
canteen co-ordinator Danelle.
It was a great opportunity to
try out some of the delights she
and our canteen volunteers
whip up for our kids.
AMAZING!!!! For those leaving
us at the end of this year –
thank you for everything large
and small that you have done
during your time at Bilambil
School. If your child is off to
high school we wish them
every success. We look
forward to seeing the rest of
you, and some new faces, in
the new year.
Book Worms Feeling pressured with Christmas
coming? Don’t stress, why not
grab a few books through Book
Club to get you started. Prices
are good and 20% of what you
spend is passed onto the school
to use to buy library resources.
So it’s Happy Christmas to you,
and Happy Christmas to
Bilambil Public School!

send it into school. Friday 30 November
