Parent Parking and Kiss and Drop The easiest way for us organise children getting home in the afternoon is catching the bus. We
understand that, for some families this is not possible. Our aim is to keep children safe when
leaving school grounds. I would like to thank all parents and carers for your patience and
cautious driving when picking up your children using our “Kiss & Drop” service or parking. We
have seen an impressive decrease in cars illegally turning right when leaving “Kiss and
Drop” (almost zero incidences). We also understand that parking in our area can be challenging
when it is busy and we appreciate your efforts to park safely. The Jets Rugby League Club
graciously allow us to open the gates to their car park to ease the parking pressure. To avoid
damage, we keep those gates closed during wet weather. Thank you for being respectful of the
Jets grounds.
When your kids eat breakfast, they have a better day at school. Eating breakfast is very important for school aged children, as students that regularly eat
breakfast have:
► Improved classroom behaviour
► Are better able to socialise
► Improved test results (Maths, English and Science in particular)
► Better memory and concentration (reduces the “brain fuzz” that many people that skip
breakfast feel)
Breakfast foods that take longer to digest are best as they improve concentration for a longer
period of time. Grainy breads, whole grain cereals, fruit and yoghurt are a great base for a
healthy breakfast.
Active & Creative Kids Vouchers Don’t forget – Active Kids Rebate vouchers are available twice per year for children aged 4.5-18
years for sports registration or creative arts fees. They can be used to subsidise registration costs
by up to $100.00
To activate your voucher, go to the Service NSW website to complete the application - https://
www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-active-kids-voucher

Some of you may have
noticed Miss Henry growing a
belly lately.. Some of you may
have guessed…
I am excited to announce, my
partner Dan and I are
expecting our first child late
July. We are beyond excited
to start a new journey of our
lives.
This means I will be taking
maternity leave in Semester 2
(Terms 3 and 4). With this news
I am super excited to
announce that Miss Chantelle
Kidd will be taking KH for
Semester 2 (Terms 3 and 4).
She is a wonderful teacher
and we are so lucky to have
her here at Bilambil Public
School.
There will be a meet and greet
afternoon later in Term 2 for
parents and carers of KH to
say hi and meet with Miss Kidd
(a note will go home late Term
2 with a time and date). She
will cover KH in the interim
when I am off sick or on stage
based planning days. This will
help students to become
familiar with her.
Miss Kidd has extensive
experience with Kindergarten.
It was an easy decision as she
has the same teaching style as
myself. If you have any further
questions please do not
hesitate to call the school or
contact myself via SeeSaw.
Thank you.
Simone Henry
Teacher
Q: What do you do if a teacher rolls her eyes at you?
A: Pick them up and roll them back
Q: Why did the teacher write on the window?

SRC Congratulations to those students who have been elected as

school community.
The SRC works to make the school a better place through:

for the student body
Helping to improve the school environment

Welcome back to 2020 for a
new year in the School Library.
It has been a real privilege for
me to be given the
opportunity to start a new era
of my career as a teacher
librarian at Bilambil.
It is wonderful to see lots of kids
already remembering their
book bags on library day and
the Library being used
regularly by lots of students
each lunchtime.
Please feel free to pop in and
have a look at our Library as
new things and opportunities
will pop up as the school year
progresses.

Reaching for the stars in
KH! KH are a beautiful bunch of students who I am so lucky to have
in my class. We have started the year off strong! We are already
doing maths and reading group rotations and blowing Miss
Henry away every day! Watch us reach for the stars this
Semester!
There is no limit to our learning!
KH are so lucky to have Miss Danielle work with us each
afternoon. Our maths rotations using the spinner have been a
big hit!
Miss Danielle is always busy in KH cutting and laminating and
working behind the scenes to ensure our room has the
resources we need! Thank you Miss Danielle, we are lucky to
have you working in KH!
The students love working with Ms Michele. We are so lucky to
have Ms Michele work in KH most mornings. We love doing
literacy activities with her!
Thanks a million Ms Michele!
Lilith showing us her handwriting. We are learning and
practicing how to correctly write the letters of the alphabet.
Amelia and Georgia working
on the ‘bee bots’. We have
been so lucky to have Mr
Thomas share his technology
skills in our classroom. We are
learning the basics of coding
using these ‘bee bots’. It is
really fun!
Branden loves working with Ms
Michele.
Ivy, Peyton, Noah, Charlotte
and Lucas having a turn on
the new book bus. An exciting
addition Mr Menin has added
into the Library. We look
forward to Monday every
week to spend time with him!
Grace and Harper show us
how fun the ‘buckets’ are
when we practice our gross
motor skills.
Charlotte and Hamish were
just as excited as Miss Henry to
find out there is a way we can
connect to See Saw at school
(Miss Henrys phone doesn't get
reception!) So we used it to
take some selfies to show off
our amazing work!
Peyton and Buddy showing off
their skills. We are learning
hand eye co-ordination using
the grip balls. This is tricky stuff!
Mason loves ‘sight word
fishing’. We always catch and
release these little ones!
Ruby loves building her sight
words with the coloured rocks.
Building those fine motor
muscles is really important in
Kindergarten!
Amelia and Ivy loved our ‘b’
painting. We painted balloons
using balloons!

the what’s happening
welbeing wise around the school. I’m looking forward to working with many students and helping
them in their area of need. My goal – to see the students become the best they can be and
thrive at Bilambil Public School.
Maths Group My Year 6 group is well under way. They are a happy bunch of vegemite’s, even if I do give them
times tables for homework. Great seeing them excited for maths and learning. Also great using
our new room out the back of Stage 3.
Great space for many of the groups we run
plus for other staff to use as well. An air
conditioner and data projector are about
to be installed. This is all paid for by the
money raised at last year’s Colour Run
Fundraiser. A big thanks to Carpet Court
Tweed South for the top deal and fantastic
looking carpet!
Canteen Kitchen Rules Yes, the Kitchen Crew are back for another year. Still the most popular program and still bearing
great fruit as students who are part of this program grow in confidence, come out of their shells,
and engage in chat that helps them in life.
Let’s see what else happens in 2020! More to come in the (deep voice) “Chappy Chapter”!
