Week 9 Term 3, 10th September 2014 Dear Parents, Sue Mackay Principal
Quote for the Week:
Week 2 Term 4, 14th October 2015 Dear Parents,
It is now only five weeks until the P & C Twilight Fair. I can hear you asking - How can you help? There are a myriad of ways in which parents can actively contribute to the success of the occasion – Send in any use toys, still in good condition, for the Toy Stall. Clean out the bookshelves and send those pre loved books in for the second hand Book Stall. If you have a green thumb you may like to pot some cuttings for the Plant Stall. Dig out your favourite cake recipe and be ready for the Cake Plate to come home. Second hand clothes in good condition are always a winner at the Clothing Tent. Volunteer to assist with a stall on the evening.
All donations will be very gratefully received and can be left on the front verandah of the admin office. Please make sure the items are bagged or boxed securely and labeled with the appropriate stall. Thank you to our Kororo community who are always so very generous and supportive of P & C activities.
Over the course of the remainder of the term, students K – 6 will be participating in Child Protection lessons. The aim of child protection education in primary schools is to assist students in developing skills in recognising and responding to unsafe situations, seeking assistance effectively and establishing and maintaining relationships. The curriculum is about strengthening attitudes and values related to equality, respect and responsibility.
Lessons will be conducted in the three areas of child protection - Recognising abuse, power in relationships and protective strategies . All lessons are a part of the DEC Personal Development syllabus and taught by classroom teachers in the context of their well developed classroom relationships. All lessons are at an age appropriate level and utilise age appropriate language. Parents are asked to contact their child’s teacher if they have any questions about the content of this area of the syllabus. The school is currently in the very early stages of organisation for the 2016 school year. If you know that your child will not be returning to KPS for the coming year, could you please return the note contained in the newsletter. The more accurate our numbers are, the greater is the accuracy of our planning. Hope it’s a productive week. Sue Mackay Principal

STAR WORKER ASSEMBLIES - Kinder to Year 2 This term students in K - 2 do not have formal assemblies. We are aware that many parents like to attend the assembly where their child is receiving awards such as Outstanding, Principal’s or School Council. We have included on the calendar this term, four occasions when such awards will be presented and have listed the event as K - 2 Starworker Assembly. Students in K - 2 who bring in awards to Mrs Mackay, will receive the next level award at the first Starworker Assembly after they are handed in. Awards must be in by the Thursday before the Starworker Assembly, as there is not a guarantee that they are able to be done on the same day. These assemblies will be held at 11.45am. Dates are on the website calendar and the printed calendar in today’s newsletter.

SCHOOL BANKING - Desperate help is needed! Last week saw us register bankers 497 & 498 at Kororo!!! It is fantastic that we have so many children participating in the school banking program but the school banking program at Kororo is in desperate need of volunteers. If we are unable to recruit volunteers by 6th November, the school banking program will likely cease. If you are able to donate an hour or two of your time, please see Fi Sodeau or Jo Sambrook on Friday mornings near the school hall or contact Fi on 0424 448 897.
