TOOTGAROOK TELEGRAPH Weekly newsletter of TOOTGAROOK PRIMARY SCHOOL Website: www.tootps.vic.edu.au Telephone: 5985 2864 Email Address: [email protected] Issue 10 3 rd April, 2014 CALENDAR Friday 4 th April - Last Day Term One – 2.30pm dismissal Tuesday 22 nd April - First Day Term Two Friday 25 th April - ANZAC Day Public Holiday END OF TERM ARRANGEMENTS Please note that Term One finishes this Friday 4th April and students will be dismissed early at 2:30pm. We will have an assembly on Friday 4th April at around 2:00pm to finish the term. Children will be dismissed from the Hall after this assembly at 2:30pm to begin their holidays. The start of Term Two is quite unusual with students returning for a three day school week. Monday 21st April is the Easter Monday holiday and students are therefore scheduled to begin Term Two on Tuesday 22nd April. On Friday 25th April, the school will be closed for the annual ANZAC Day holiday. PLAYGROUND USE OVER THE HOLIDAYS We hope that families might be able to take advantage of our wonderful facilities over the holiday break and enjoy some lovely autumn afternoons on the playground equipment. Please be aware that children need to be supervised on the equipment at all times over the break as there are many challenging elements to the equipment. There have been injuries over the last couple of months with the majority of these occurring outside of school hours when children are unsupervised and using the equipment inappropriately. Whilst the school will be vigilant in ensuring the equipment is compliant and safe, we seek your support in ensuring appropriate supervision is maintained outside of school hours. In recent weeks we have noticed an increase in families entering the grounds with dogs. Whilst we can’t mandate this outside of school hours, we do ask that dogs are not brought into the grounds. Many younger children are frightened of dogs that are unleashed and of course there are the obvious hygiene issues if owners do not pick up after their dogs. In working together we can all ensure that our children are safe at all times when visiting the school. STAFF ON LEAVE Mr King will be on leave for the first 2 weeks of next term. Miss Grayson will be the Physical Education teacher for the first 2 weeks. Our next market will be 26 th April with 3/4W – Ms Walton’s class being rostered on. Notes have been sent home – please return by tomorrow or no later than Thursday 24 th April – this is a long weekend so the market promises to be very busy so if you could spare an hour or so to assist the market people please leave your name at the office – thanks!!
