Social Studies with Ms. TextorStudents have wrapped up their time
learning about the economy and economics
this week by researching the economic
status of countries we have discussed overthe year. After researching, we took our
findings and compared it to the United
States economy to discuss how different
countries use their economics to helpdevelop their own country. With one last
full week of school left (yikes!), the class will
be working on two fun projects. The first
will be a letter students will write to take a
look back on the year and reflect over what
they have learned. This letter will let the
kids talk about what they liked the most and
what they wish they could learn more
about. The last piece that students will be
doing is our 'ROUND THE WORLD
POTLUCK!'. We have traveled far over theyear from Greece, Rome, Medieval Europe
and Latin America. It's time to put those
wonderful countries to use with food! The
classes will be choosing what country they
would like to bring a dish in and on
Thursday we will have a social studies
potluck where the students will bring in
their food with a card describing what the
food is and what country it is coming from. I
can't wait for the classes to sample all of the
delicious food that will be brought to school!
Science with Mrs. Lee
Scientists completed their week of Earth
Processes with a lab on soil conservation.
They will continue their study of the Earthnext week with a mock earthquake,
volcanic eruptions, and a final rock study.
Once the labs are complete, students will
review the scientific method in preparation
for the fall.
Math Minute with
Mr. Owens
Our outstanding mathematicians
will be boldly completing theirprobabilities unit. Students will be
asked to bring in items to help with
probability ranging from coins to
candy to playing cards.
Students will be turning in their
math books starting on Wednesday
If you have a book checked out to
you for home use, it needs to be in
by June 6th.
Books not turned in by Friday June
8th will be assumed lost and
assessed a replacement fee.
English / LanguageArts
The school year will end with a Moral Focus
study and review of the writing process.
Students will work on essays, letters, and
expanding initial thoughts with details.
