Illinois Phi Beta Lambda December 2015 Hello Illinois PBL! I hope everyone had a very successful first semester. I’m sure winter break will be well deserved for everyone this year. This past year we had our first state get together at the Fall Seminar Series on October 17, 2015, at Illinois State University. It was great seeing all the people from PBL getting together for the speakers that we had. This year we are fundraising for the March of Dimes. When your school does your March of Dimes fundraiser, please report the total amount raised so we can find out how much we raised as a state. Along with that, if you could post any pictures of your fundraisers that would be great. Another program that we have this year is the ambassador program; if you are interested in becoming an ambassador please let one of the state officers know. We would love to get as many ambassadors as possible. Lastly, don’t forget to get more PBL involvement by participating in the CMAP program. CMAP helps to develop PBL members in leadership and business; it truly is a great program. Coming up in the next few months is the Winter Seminar Series which is going to be on January 30 at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois. Be on the lookout for more information about this event in the coming weeks. I hope everyone has a fun winter break and a happy holidays! The members of Illinois Central College PBL Chapter came together and collaborated with fun and exciting ideas to host an indoor mini golf tournament with the help of some local businesses. Fellow ICC students were able to come and relax while they had their try at a short game of 9 holes. With all of the hard work and dedication from the members of the ICC PBL Chapter, they were able to come together as a team, and create a course for all students to enjoy. This event gave the opportunity for members to gain some experience with reaching out and networking with the following businesses that sponsored a hole. Businesses that donated were PNC Bank, Visiting Angels, Kroger’s, ICC Bookstore, Libby’s Downtown Market, NAPA, Darin LaHood, Dairy Queen of Washington and Metamora, and Russell’s Cycle. Since these businesses donated a certain amount of money to support our group and also to be advertised, it made for a good fundraiser. We can’t wait to see you all at the State PBL Conference!

Southwestern Illinois College By: Amanda Brown The SWIC PBL, Abe Small Chapter has been involved in few events this year. In October, we had the privilege of participating in the Trunk-or-Treat event sponsored by Veteran’s Services at the Belleville Campus. Our group decorated a trunk and table and offered candy to the children in the community. This event not only allowed us to enjoy time together but it also allowed us to represent SWIC PBL within the community. This past November, we also had the privilege to work alongside of our local Chick-fil-A to raise funds for our group’s upcoming events. Together, through the generosity of Chick-fil-A, we were able to raise $52.93. These funds help us get one step closer to our goal of raising the funds necessary to attend upcoming state and national leadership conferences. We were also pleased to have the opportunity to partner with March of Dimes in recognition of World Prematurity Awareness Day. Our group was able to offer practical information to the public about premature birth and we also raised $72 through monetary donations. These donations will directly benefit March of Dimes. This fundraiser also allowed our group to interact with other students on campus. It was an honor to hear the personal stories of others relating to premature birth and to help in bringing about awareness of the cause. Though our group is small in number, we are big on quality and enthusiasm. We are already planning events and fundraisers for the spring semester. We look forward to participating in upcoming events and conventions together in the New Year.
