Connecting to Country This week Mrs Bartlett, Mr Taylor and I are attending Connecting to Country Training in Coffs Harbour. This is a wonderful initiative that is being offered to all schools in the Coffs Harbour area. Literacy Café Thanks to those who were able to come along to our first Literacy Café. Year 2 and 1/2 will be hosting the next one on May 31. This coincides with our Biggest Morning Tea and parents are welcome to attend both. For catering purposes please fill in the attached slip and return it to school if you are able to come. Art Gallery exhibition We were very fortunate to be able to attend the Unfinished Business exhibition at the Art gallery last week. A huge thank you to Alison Williams for talking to the students about the exhibition. Chess Club Due to the large number of chess enthusiasts at our school we have started up a chess club. It meets every Monday in the library during second half lunch. We have a large number of very eager players who have commenced. An interschool chess tournament will be held on Thursday June 1 at Woolgoolga High School. A note has gone home to interested students in Years 5 and 4. Unfortunately students in Year 6 will be attending the GRIP Leadership course on the same day. Self-help raffle Thanks to those parents who have returned the self-help raffle forms. Students are asked to place them in the gold box in the foyer of the office.

Classy Cooks
Year 1/2 cooked Nachos this week. Students loved chopping and peeling the vegetables as well as assembling each plate for eating. It was delicious! In the garden we were able to harvest some of our corn crop and have a taste...yum! If your child has a pair of gardening gloves and would like to bring them in for their session this Wednesday please feel free, although not necessary. Also an old t shirt might be good to put over their school shirt as I noticed a lot of students quite dirty after their session in the garden. If you haven’t paid for Term 2 please pay $3 to the office.
Happy Cooking Mr Wiggins

...LIBRARY NEWS...
IT’S TOMORROW!!
At 11am tomorrow, all our Corindi school students are joining thousands of others throughout Australia in experiencing the reading of “The Cow Tripped Over the Moon”. This delightful story was written for the author’s 4 year-old son Jack who has Cerebral Palsy, to encourage him to keep trying and never give up. Jack is learning to walk and talk. Teachers will be discussing the story with their class following the reading. You can view Tony Wilson’s website and see him reading the story to Jack on YouTube, just search for Tony Wilson & Jack reading 'The Cow Tripped Over the Moon'
Enjoy!

She has been with us for 4 weeks, where she worked with us on poetry, 2D shapes, multiplication and some fantastic art work as well as teaching us a ribbon dance. We wish her well in her teaching.
