Over the past two years Mrs Fowke has led the Aboriginal Education Committee in developing the school’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Action Plan, in consultation with school staff and community members, identifying and defining shared goals for Aboriginal education at Inverell Public School. Professional learning has facilitated greatly enhanced Cultural awareness across the school that is consistently reflected in classroom practice and professional conversations. SPOTLIGHT ON 2W

**************************************************************************************** TIPS TO STAYING FREE FROM COLDS AND THE FLU THIS WINTER

With winter fast approaching the spread of infections such as the common cold and influenza increases. These infections can be transmitted by respiratory droplets both airborne and on surfaces. These can be reduced by practising good respiratory hygiene: - Turning away from others when coughing or sneezing - Covering the nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing - If a tissue is not available coughing or sneezing into the arm not hands - After coughing or sneezing wash hands with soap and water or an alcohol based hand rub. ****************************************************************************************

GRIP LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

On 7th of May Inverell Public leaders joined Ross Hill at the Grip Leadership Conference in Moree. At the Conference we learned about the qualities of a leader. We learnt to be a strawberry leader not a watermelon leader, that means, you do what you say. Another thing we learnt is that being a leader

is like being a school yard super hero. We also played many games, and met the Noisy Boys, their names are Karl and Andy. Tuesday was a special day for Karl as it was his birthday!

There was a competition for each school, you had to find five people in your school who could

whistle hot cross buns, touch their nose with their tongue, do 10 push ups, speak a different language and break-dance. Through this game, we learnt that we can achieve much more through

working together as a team. Those people that did all of the tricks were Rose Duncan, Sebastian

Blair and Miranda Hodges. We all had a fantastic day,

and learned lots. Reported by: Khameal

Hartig, Jada Waddell and Rose Duncan.

2W students have had a busy time 2W looked at a famous children’s

author and illustrator, Barbara Reid,

and used her clay illustrations as

inspirations for our Autumn leaves.

Cody brought in his coin collection

to share.

We have been doing lots of reading

practice.

We had a fantastic ice cream party!
