CHRISTMAS CANTATA: SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22

LAS POSADAS (SERVICE OF SHELTER FOR THE HOLY FAMILY) ON DECEMBER 29Trinity youth and young adults  will work together on a dramatization of 'Shelter for the Holy Family’ during our worship services on December 29. Dear Friends,

We are experiencing an odd juxtaposition in the life events of our congregation.  Christmas is approaching fast, while at the same time several of our members have died, calling upon us to celebrate their lives even as we prepare ourselves for Jesus' birth.  Trying to fit all these events into our hearts, this building and our schedules is a challenge, but this is the full spectrum of new life, death and eternal life that is God's gift to us this season.,

God sent Jesus to us for a purpose.  He came to show us how to live, invite us to follow him during our earthly lives, and to go on with God in eternal life when we believe....So as we say good-bye to our Trinity friends, we are also celebrating them going on to the eternal life that is God's gift to all of us through Jesus.  It's a gift received, shared and celebrated during this season.  The biggest challenge is to experience the rollercoaster of so many joys and sorrows so close together.

I suspect that Christmas blends these emotions for most of us every year because they are simply part of our lives. Each year is filled with adding the people God sends into our lives and telling them good-bye as we give them up to God.  This holiday, some of us will be enjoying the sound and excitement of new babies added or welcoming new friends to our family gatherings, even as we may have an empty chair at our table where someone we loved deeply used to sit.  Let's expect our Christmas celebrations will include both laughter and tears, joy and sorrow - and God will understand both of those. Let's name those emotions for each other and offer our care. This is the fullness of life God intends for all of us.

It is a joy to walk this journey with you.   May we fully receive all aspects of God's blessing in our lives as 2019 ends - both welcoming all those God has sent us, and entrusting loved ones to God's care for eternity.

Peace,

Cherie

EFT & Online GivingAs the weather turns toward winter, we are thankful for the work of our trustees for the fully implemented boiler project to keep the church heated. However, if weather conditions though prevent you from being able to be in the warmth of the church and in the fellowship of friends, we have two ways to continue to make sure that our financial needs are provided for.

The first is thru electronic funds transfer (EFT). This is an electronic way to provide giving to the church, like what you may have for your monthly expenses that pull automatically from a checking account. EFT can be set for any amount at frequencies of weekly, monthly or even annually. If you are interested, please see a finance committee member or stop in at the church office.

The second method is through our website at the link below. Using the Trinity Church website, you can make a one-time donation if you missed worship or for special events and occasions. The online form also allows recurring giving. Follow the steps to set up an account on Trinity's website.

Change to Trinity ScholarshipsAs we approach 2020, Trinity's Scholarship Committee wants to let you know of a new opportunity for scholarships in the year ahead.  Trinity has been blessed with bequests from the estates of the late E. R. Fredrick and the late Pearl F. Sherwood to provide scholarships to help Trinity members further their education.  In the past, the scholarships have been available only to seniors graduating from high school and continuing on to post-secondary education.  In the time ahead, the Scholarship Committee has expanded the definition of who may apply and what educational opportunities may be funded.  In addition to graduating seniors, church members may apply for scholarship support for continuing education opportunities, especially if those are opportunities that would benefit Trinity's ministry or help the applicant take next steps toward fulfilling vocational goals.  Continuing education monies would be awarded after an application is received and reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.  For more information, please see Scholarship Committee Chair Susan Neinhuis or Pastor Cherie Forret.
