The final two weeks in any term are always extremely busy but it is especially so this term as we are trying to fit in a number of events cancelled because of poor weather earlier in the term. Well done to the children and staff for keeping go-ing!

Year 7 Trip to Paris

As I write, Year 7 are currently heading back to the UK from their week in Paris, where they have had an excellent time taking part in all manner of both tourist activities and language development activities. I am sure they will sleep well this weekend.

Year 4

Year 4 have had a particularly busy week this week, with their play on Tuesday - an excellent production of ‘All Greek to Me’. This was certainly a challenging piece for the children and they did extremely well. This was then followed the next day with their ‘Indian Workshop’ in the afternoon with a number of differ-ent stations, each with different activities for the children. This followed an ex-cellent Indian themed lunch enjoyed by all. My thanks to all members of staff for the extra work that goes into these activities.

Final Week

Next week, we look forward to the Years 7 and 8 Production Club play ‘ Wel-come to Blanting’, taking place both on Tuesday afternoon and then Wednesday evening.

There are also more snow rearrangements for next week – the Year 7 Parent/Teacher meeting is taking place in the Dome on Monday evening at 6.00 pm, and the Years 3 and 4 House Cross-Country race takes place on Wednesday at 10.15 am. As you know, we would usually follow sporting events with a ‘Spratton Tea’ for parents, however, because of the time of day, the Catering staff will be busy preparing lunch so, unfortunately, we will be unable to offer tea on this occasion.

We also look forward to the Easter Church Services next Thursday morning, with Years 6, 7 and 8 at 8.50 am, followed by Years 3, 4 and 5 at 9.15 am.

Finally, Thursday is of course the end of term, with Pre-Prep children finishing at 2.30 pm, Years 3, 4 and 5 at 3.30 pm and Years 6, 7 and 8 at 4.00 pm. Children in Years 6, 7 and 8 who have younger siblings in Years 3, 4 and 5 will be able to leave with them at 3.30 pm - and just a reminder there are no Clubs, Activities or Prep on that Thursday.

This draws to a close six exciting rounds of Gaming, with the final overall result to be announced in Assembly.

We have been treated to two thoroughly enjoyable year group assemblies recently. Reception

told their own wonderful story, describing what they would like to be when they are adults.

Mustering their biggest voices, and dressed as doctors, firefighters, police officers, lumberjacks

and even a head teacher, it was a joy to see their blossoming confidence and to share in their

topic of ‘People Who Help Us’. Then, on Tuesday, we were moving, shaking and up on our

feet, as Year 2 entertained us with a dance routine to kick start their assembly. With lots of

facts about healthy living and the Antarctica, they finished with a quite brilliant rendition of the

1978 favourite ‘Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs’, in celebration of their work

about the artist D.S Lowry.

Wrapped in warm layers of clothing to protect against the brisk chill in the air, this week also

saw Reception venturing off to West Lodge Farm. Experiencing the delights of Springtime, the

children were able to stroke many new-born animals, including chicks, guinea pigs and bunnies,

before gathering in the barns for a spot of piglet racing!

On Wednesday we were ‘rocking our socks’ in Pre-Prep, in recognition of Down’s Syndrome

Awareness Day. Isaac’s mummy, Mrs Richardson, kindly brought this worldwide event to our

attention and we felt very proud to play our part in it. Sporting a fabulous array of socks and

tights, from stripy, spotty, multi-coloured, sparkly and neon ones, it was a wonderful feeling to

know that we were helping to make a small difference to the lives of others. Thank you so

much for all your donations – all the money raised will now be sent to the Down’s Syndrome

Group Northampton, which is of great support to Isaac’s little sister, Isabella, and her family.

Finally, your child’s safety is of paramount importance to us at all times. With this in mind,

please may I ask for your support in not allowing your children to play on the high brick ledges

and walls that run around the playground ramp, and steps, after school. At some points in

these areas there are drops in excess of 6 feet. We have spoken to the children in school and

have reminded them that they must remain close to

their grown-ups at pick up time, particularly as staff

are not outside to supervise them at this time of the

day. Your support is greatly appreciated, thank you.
