Using our skills in the service of
solidarity
It is recognized nowadays that
those in the business world
have a responsibility or social
progress. As a retailer, we can combat social
exclusion through our business activit ies. And that
is precisely what our team members do every
day, through solidarity structures in our BUs and
with the support o the Carreour International
Foundation.
So every day, in our stores, they organize the
collection o products that have been withdrawn
rom sale but are sae to eat, and these are then
given to charities to eed the most needy. In 2007,
Carreour collected the equivalent o 30 million
meals in this way. The Carreour International
Foundation also helps to buy rerigerated trucks
to enable the organisations to transport these
oodstus.
Solidarity is an act o generosity, so our
employees also organize collections o products
among our customers. They help, too, to manage
welare grocery stores fnanced by the Carreour
International Foundation.
We can be very proud o all these activities.
The Carreour groups most recent corporate
publicity campaign pays tribute to them and
reminds all our customers that in the Carreour
group, being useul every day is also using our
business to serve solidarity.

action to help care or the victims. 18 trucks flled with provisions,
tents and blankets valued at the equivalent o e200,000 took to
the road rom various Carreour stores heading or the Chengdu
relie centre. In addition, 9 million Yuan was allocated to two
childrens aid programmes: Hope School, or the reconstruction
o schools (an amount equivalent to e500,000) and the China
Children and Teenagers Fund, to improve the wellbeing o
children and teenagers (e400,000).
Later, ater having clearly identifed the populations new needs,
Carreour allocated a urther 10 million Yuan.

The Carrefour International Foundation has been supporting the growth of theA.N.D.E.S. network since 2006. Two years into the sponsorship period, GuillaumeBapst, Director of A.N.D.E.S., gave an initial review of the support provided bythe Foundation.
the purpose o which is to ensure the ongoing development
and autonomy o the A.N.D.E.S. network. The Groups three-
year commitment provides real economic stability, allows
us to plan or the long term and lastly gives us an operating
method suitable to our grocery network.
The Carreour Group and the A.N.D.E.S. network are currently
studying the easibility o a pilot project to supply welare
groceries that would have a budget o e1 million derived
rom DGAS (General Social Welare Department) public unds.
A.N.D.E.S. would buy coupons rom the Group at cost price
that would be valid in Group stores and would be usable by
welare groceries. These coupons would give access to a
selection o 150 products o national brands that are targeted
as basic oodstus needed to prepare a meal and have
nutritional qualities compatible with the A.N.D.E.S. project. This
experiment would be the frst test phase o a program that
would be reproducible countrywide.
The Carreour International
Foundation has supported
us on several levels.
First and oremost, the
confdence shown in us
by the Foundation and itsteam is key to our progress.
It obliges us to provide still
better results and in this
sense, helps to drive the
project orward to success.
Also, the A.N.D.E.S. networks
activities resonate strongly with the core business o the
Carreour Group and the Foundation is helping to establish a
business sponsorship program to which the Group can, i it so
wishes, contribute its expertise.
Nor should we orget the fnancial aspect o this partnership,
