ECA Webinar Hosted at the American Cor-ner
The American Corner (AC) hosted a viewing par-
ty of the online webinar "Easy Collaborative
Learning Activities for a Student-Centered Class-
room” for English language teachers on June 12,
2013. A group of 9 teachers from different lan-
guage institutions attended and received in-
structions on collaborative learning when teach-
ing English. This activity supports English teach-
ing in Nicaragua by offering training opportuni-
ties to the academic community.
In collaboration with the American Cor-ner (AC), post hosted a viewing party of eleven, many of them alumni, on June 5, 2013. Afterward, the participants en-gaged in active dialogue to discuss youth volunteerism. A representative of an NGO that works with youth talked to the participants and encouraged them to be active volunteers. This activity addresses the goals of raising awareness of peace-keeping efforts and engaging youth in dialogue to empower them to become agents of positive change in their com-munities.

On June 5, the American Corner (AC) Coordina-
tor provided training on “How to Blog” to the
Nicaraguan Librarian Association. Blogging is an
excellent tool to promote your library. 25 Li-
brarians, all women, participated in the train-
ing. This activity improved the skill set of a key
segment of future and current leaders in Nica-
raguan society. By empowering librarians to
maximize social media tools, they will be part-
ners to shape the narrative in the future.
