Some guidelines of the garden:

v Volunteers should form teams, and will be given a 150 square foot plot of garden. The produce will go directly to the food

pantries. Share the work with a team; learn from each other and from other teams.

v Each team should have a placard/sign on its row with a team name. The funnier, the better!

v There are no fees associated with the garden.

v No non-organic herbicides or pesticides are allowed in the garden. Fertilizers are allowed.

v Help with the garden preparation and planning.

v Are you an experienced gardener? Teach novice gardeners and students. Hold a workshop or class at the garden.

v Students needing volunteer hours are welcome along with Girl Scout and Eagle Scout projects.

v No time to commit to owning a row? The uncommitted can garden without owning a row, but may help others with

community or shared rows.

home. NO video games, CD players, IPods, MP3 players, cell phones, trading cards or anything that is

valuable. We cannot be responsible for these items, and it is easier if they are kept home. Additional

items that are not permitted at camp are water guns, any sharp objects or weapons, gum or glass

bottles. SAFETY FIRST. RULES ARE MADE FOR THE SAFETY OF THE GROUP. HAVE FUN!

MEDICATION:Please notify the Parks and Recreation Office, Site Directors and Counselors in writing if

your child takes medication or has any allergies (i.e. food, bees, nuts, etc.) All counselors have been

trained in first aid CPR, AED, & Epi Pen. Our Site Directors, Head Counselors and Camper Support

Counselor have been certified in Medical Administration. Please note that Counselors are not allowed

to remove ticks. You will be contacted if a tick is found on your child during camp.

BEHAVIOR: If a counselor is experiencing a behavioral problem with a child, the parents will be called.

We will provide support and do all we can do to resolve any issues. If the problem continues, the

parents will be asked to remove the child from camp.

REFUNDS will not be given if a child is asked to leave camp.

SUNSCREEN POLICY:We ask that you apply the appropriate SPF sunscreen protection to your child/

children before they head off to camp. Please include sunscreen protection with your campers pack.

(Spray Sunscreen) We recommend that your child/children apply their sunscreen throughout the day.

We will remind all campers to reapply their sunscreen. We will offer assistance or guidance with the

sunscreen application. If your child/children forget their sunscreen protection, we have 30 SPF

sunscreen, if needed. We do not recommend that our counselors apply sunscreen. If your child needs

help in applying sunscreen, please speak with your child/children’s counselor. Please fill out

permission/release form and give to your counselor. This includes bug spray application also.

LUNCH AND SNACKS:We cannot stress enough the importance of keeping the children hydrated

throughout the summer hot days. Please send your camper with plenty of liquids (especially water)!

Also, have campers bring their own lunch and snacks every day labeled with their first and last name.

We have refrigeration on site to store lunches. If your child needs assistance with lunch/snacks please

let the counselor know.

DROP OFF & PICK UP PROCEDURES: As you will come to find out pick up and drop off time can become

congested. It is important that you remain in your car while picking up or dropping off your child/

children. Traffic becomes even more congested when people decide to leave their car in the middle of

the lane. IF YOU PLAN to GET OUT, please park in the parking spaces and walk your child/children to his/

her counselor-masks required. Your child’s camp counselor will come to your vehicle to greet your child

or bring your child to you. Please swiftly sign your child in/out and proceed in line towards the park exit.

Please remember that the park is open to the public while Summer Day Camp is in progress and traffic

can be congested. Patience is required!
