Discovered in 1460 the islands gained full independence from Portugal in 1975. With a population of around 476,000. The Cape Verdeans have their own unique language, called “Creole”, a mixture of Portuguese and African blend. With close economic ties to the US, EU & World Bank the local govt is very supportive of foreign investment, the local currency Cape Verde Escudo (CVE) has the benefit of being fixed to the Euro.
