Marjorie reported that we had 9 Displays (5 of the designated spaces were used for vendors) at the show and that thank you letters and photos have been sent to participants. 41st Annual Wild Rose Antique Show

The 41st Annual Wild Rose Antique Show has come and gone. This was my 5th term as Show Director/. Show Chair. This year we returned to Hall “E”. We were able to sell out early and rented additional spaces normally held for displays.

As usual the show would not be a success without the help and assistance of other club members. Thus I would like to thank Mel Seutter and the other wrist banding crew: Norman & Dorothy Sande, and Bob & Carol Snyder; Bill Borgwardt for his fine job of advertising for the show; Nancy Ross for looking after the Pre-Sale Tickets; Gord Soch for again getting our posters printed; Doug & Karen Herd for looking after the show office on set up day and part of Saturday and Debbie Colbourne for working in the show office Saturday and Sunday. I would like to thank the other members of our executive as well. Marj Berg for looking after the Displays; Clinton Beck for having NEW Signs and a Banner ordered and ready for the show. He also initiated the NEW digital advertising on the Video boards throughout the City; also the pads of reminders for the public that were made available to the vendors; Bruce Gilbertson for helping on Set up day and spending time at the club table; Alan Thain for handling all of the expenses etc.; John Horrigan for keeping the club supplies and other show materials in his basement and for helping at the show. I would like to thank all the other people that volunteered to help on the club table and the club members that were vendors and finally my Dear Wife Kim for “letting me” have our house full of show paper work and also answering phone messages.

No dates have been set for the 42nd show for 2017. At present it appears that the possible dates will be Set up Friday March 31st. and the Show Saturday and Sunday April 01-02 and again be in Hall “E”.

Respectfully Submitted Bernie Haber

Appraisals at the Show

I saw 46 individual people; many with two items. Two nice items I saw at the appraisal table: Indian semi precious stone inlay stone chess board. Brought from India. The owner drove 6 hours to come to the show and had to get permission from your members to have her son carry it in for her, due to its weight! The other photo is of a John Joseph Enneking original oil painting - found at a garage sale!! Value, if authentic, will be in 5 figures! (see photo on cover) Gale Pirie

At the Show

Sylvia Kuzyk was a first time vendor at our show. She's already looking forward to next year's show!

Ron & Helena Thompson, also first time vendors at the show. Ron mainly collects Canadian coins and Canadian paper money and belongs to three numismatic organizations.

TRAVEL TIP: If you are in Ladysmith this summer, visiting the old Post Office and other antique stores, there is a tiny place called Purple Pigeon at 317 First Avenue. She might have a sign by Barney's Café (a good place to eat), it's half a block, down some steps & hidden by shrubbery, in what used to be a cobbler's shop - there is still a shoe drop in the door! It is a little hole-in-the-wall venue, full of small "Repurposed-Really-Unique-up-cycled" items worth investigating. Happy Hunting! Gail Sabo
