NIB loan to finance Sweden’s drinking water network

The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) is lending Swedish drinking water

producer Sydvatten AB SEK67 million to improve its supply network in southern Sweden.

The loan will be used to construct a 20 km drinking water pipe to connect the municipalities of Ängelholm and Båstad to Sydvatten’s drinking water supply system and to equip Sydvatten’s Ringsjöverket water purification plant with ultraviolet lamps for water treatment.

IDE PROGREEN system selected for Great Barrier Reef desalination plant

Mulpha Australia will use IDE Technologies’ IDE PROGREEN

modular reverse osmosis (RO) desalination solution to provide desalinated water for its Hayman island resort on the Great Barrier Reef.

The IDE PROGREEN ‘desalination plant-in-a-box’ system is compact and flexible, which makes it easy to transport and install. The IDE PROGREEN features a patented RO Membrane Direct Osmosis Cleaning (DOC) system for reduced energy consumption and stable performance. By eliminating the use of chemicals in the pretreatment and desalination processes, the IDE PROGREEN system also minimises its impact on the environment.

IDE Technologies will operate and maintain the Hayman desalination plant for ten years.

Ovivo participates in wafer fab facility design consortium

GLV Inc’s Ovivo business is the only water treatment company to be

part of the Facility 450 Consortium (F450C), a group of 10 companies that will collaborate to develop the next generation of 450mm computer chip fabrication facilities.

The nanoelectronics facility companies will collaborate at the State University of New York’s College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE).

“It is a demonstration of trust from the semiconductor industry, and especially, a recognition of Ovivo’s technological skills in the ultra-pure and water recycling technologies,” said Richard Verreault, president and CEO of GLV.

The other companies that make up the F450C include Air Liquide, CH2M HILL, CS Clean Systems, Ceres Technologies, Edwards, Haws Corp, Mega Fluid Systems, M+W Group and Swagelok.

OIL & GAS

ProSep secures contracts worth C$3mn

The C$3 million in contracts that Canada’s ProSep Inc has been

awarded include a C$2 million CO2 gas treatment membrane package for installation at a US onshore facility and a produced water treatment package and nitrogen generation system for installations offshore South East Asia.

Deliveries are expected to take place by the end of this year and into the first half of 2014.

Technip to undertake EPC work for Congo’s Moho Nord Project

Total E&P Congo has awarded Technip an engineering,

procurement and supply contract for the Moho Nord project, the largest development ever in the Republic of Congo, located 75 km offshore Pointe Noire.

The Moho Nord project consists of two developments: Moho Phase 1bis and Moho Nord. This contract is part of the Moho Phase 1bis development. It is a brownfield development consisting of tie-backs to the existing deepwater Alima floating production

unit (FPU) and the shallow-water N’Kossa platform.

The Technip contract covers the project management, detail engineering, procurement and supply for the modifications of the Alima FPU, with two new subsea tie-backs. Technip’s scope includes the addition of a first stage separator, a valves manifold, an essential diesel generator, an additional control room and topsides umbilical termination units, the replacement of methanol and dead oil pumps, the extension and upgrade of the integrated control and safety system, and integration studies of equipment provided by other contractors.

Technip’s operating centre in Paris, France will manage this contract, which is scheduled to be completed in the first semester of 2015. Technip will also provide assistance to Total for the offshore construction phase between 2014 and 2016.

Midwest crude oil refinery to boost capacity

KBR is to execute front-end engineering and design (FEED)

for a crude oil refinery revamp project for one of the oldest operating refineries in the US.

During the feasibility phase, KBR will focus on determining the optimum economic configuration to increase overall heavy crude processing capability and flexibility. The refinery currently processes light sweet crudes and aims to take advantage of fluctuations in the crude oil pricing market by gaining the flexibility to process heavier sour crude oils.
