MULTI-‐USE FACILITY DESIGN Cło Beer Museum & Brewery
5
Course Level: Senior Project Descripbon: Design a mulb-‐use museum facility displaying Wisconsin’s rich history in beer making. Concept: The concept for the CŁO beer museum and brewery is derived from the Polish translabon for customs. Brewing customs and tradibons are a central part of the history of Stevens Point and Wisconsin overall. The design will be into the Wisconsin River, an integral part of the brewing history of Wisconsin, which connects Stevens Point to other locabons throughout the state. The mulbple spaces within CŁO will all work together to weave out the story of Wisconsin beer making, and bring people of all ages together in a fresh, fun, and tacble learning environment. The design will focus on the creabve blending of industrial, modern, and historic elements while creabng a welcoming space that will foster community and social interacbon.
COPPER BREW KETTLE EXHIBIT Two story copper brewing keoles located at the front of
the museum will make for an impressive display for visitors and passersby to appreciate
SOUTHERN EXTERIOR FACADE The majority of the southern side of the facility will be glazing
allowing for natural light throughout the interior and connecbng the facility to the conbguous downtown area.
HISTORIC BEER HALL BAR AREA The merging of historic, industrial, and contemporary design elements will create an excibng and inspiring
learning environment for guests to enjoy. BAR AREA

Project Parameters:
• Project Size: 119,391 square feet • LocaNon: The building site is located on a 4 acre
undeveloped lot on the North side of Center Point Drive, adjacent to downtown Stevens Point, WI.
• The building is a reinforced concrete construcbon (pier & slab) structure in a 40’ grid and contains 3 levels above ground.
• The design must integrate several different areas into the space which include:
• A designated museum exhibit space • An arbfacts and retail store and adjacent
office space • An acbve historic inspired beer hall and
beer garden with bandstand and dance floor
• An upscale restaurant • Bar area with small service kitchen • 7-‐10 beer making and micro brewery labs
• 400-‐800 S.F. each • The design must take into considerabon the
necessary circulabon and public areas required in a mulb-‐use facility and meet all ADA and egress requirements by code.
• This project will have a specific focus on correct and effecbve restroom design.
• The design should take into account sustainability issues and show environmental impact considerabons.
• All three levels are required to be fully space planed, and each design team shall choose one area to fully developed with material & finish, equipment, and lighbng selecbons as well as 3d renderings completed for the space.

Several sustainable aspects were incorporated on the interior as well as on the exterior of the facility. A few of these strategies included bio-‐swales around the perimeter for runoff water collecbon in addibon to two water collecbon pools located in the front courtyard. The enbre front façade was glazed to allow natural light to flow throughout the interior along with providing a visual connecbon to the exterior and downtown Stevens Point.

DINING AREA
A warm paleoe of deep golds, rich ambers, and calming blues was chosen for the space further developing a visual connecbon to the nearby Wisconsin river, an integral part of beer brewing in Wisconsin. The colors chosen also draw from the vivid golds and ambers of a good brew as well as the paleoe provided by the hop plant in the late stages of budding.
9
It was decided that the third level would provide the perfect sewng for the upscale restaurant and focal area due to it’s great views of the downtown area as well as the availability of outdoor space for extended dining space during the summer months.

Course Level: Junior Project Descripbon: Design the interior of Siemen’s new Technology-‐To-‐Business Center (TTB) located in Orlando, Florida. Concept: Siemen’s Technology-‐to Business center offers employees as well as clients a vibrant, open, and collaborabve space to work in. The design is centered around the ublizabon of natural light, sustainability, and an open office layout to promote teamwork. The creabve use of glass paneling on private office walls and collaborabve work areas such as the ‘Hive’ conference room and project room allows for natural light to emerge through the space. The glass panels also provide the office with an open feeling, yet offer moderate privacy where needed. The incorporabon of Allsteel’s Stride office furniture and a vibrant color paleoe of reds and greens grounded by dark tradibonal wood elements showcase the company’s desire to be sustainable, its innovabve direcbon, as well as its longevity.

White anbque dressers were used to display wine, cheese, and other merchandise. A large two sided mirror was placed between displays to reflect light through the space and enhance the look of the products. The anbque dressers offset the contemporary design while developing a sense that the shop has been around and is well established.

HOSPITALITY DESIGN ‘Fixie’ Boubque Hotel Lobby
19
Course Level: Freshman Project Descripbon: Design a boubque hotel lobby which merges the Art Deco architecture of the exterior with the newly remodeled design of the interior. Concept: The young, hip Cincinnab bicycle scene was the main inspirabon for this boubque hotel lobby design. The design builds off of the fun, energebc cycling atmosphere incorporabng a bright color paleoe of blues, golds, and browns inspired by nature and lively paoerns to create an interior full of life. The design acknowledges the historic art deco style of the building while interprebng that style on the interior in a contemporary fashion. The unique art installabon and furnishings within the space work to create a memorable experience for any visitor. High-‐end yet durable finishes were chosen to ensure that the lobby maintains its high-‐end appearance for years to come.

COMPLETED TABLE 21
The design of this wooden coffee table features a sleek white frame mitered together with 45 degree angles. It is set up as a hollow rectangle allowing for light to flow through the piece which keeps its appearance light and offsets the heavy linear design of the table. The top and two closed sides are composed of several 2”x2” blocks cut at different heights giving the piece a pixilated quality.
FRAME DURING CONSTRUCTION
TABLE SKETCH WITH DIMENSIONS
This metal framed mirror, constructed with 1-‐1/2” angle iron, was designed drawing inspirabon from a bicycle frame. Two circles were cut out of sheet metal and spindles were developed out of wire to create the wheel shapes and a local bicycle shop donated the gears that make up the wheel hub. The frame was set at different angles mimicking the frame of a bike and developing a sense of movement within the piece.
The design for this wood frame containing a painbng of mine imitates a freestanding chalkboard stand. The enbre piece was constructed from 2x4s ripped down to 1x3s and the top porbon has the ability to swivel 360 degrees. A dark stain was chosen to complement the painbng and accompany the old-‐fashioned design of the piece.
