The N.K.R.G. meets on Thursday, 23rd June, 8.00pm at Lilac Cottage. The book to read is, “The Hare with Amber Eyes, “by Edmund de Waal and was winner of the 2010 Costa Biography award. The author is a British ceramic artist as well as a writer and this book recounts his family’s history spanning many generations by following a collection of Netsuke (small Japanese objects often made of ivory). This account takes the reader on a trip to a Europe past, through the horrors of world wars and back to the modern day present. Although it may read like fiction, it is apparently a compelling factual story. Enjoy.

Government to maintain support for local libraries, as an essential local educational and information resource.” North Kilworth WI supported the second resolution but did not support the first. Millennium Green Tree Work

The Horse Chestnut, aesculus hippocastanum, next to the Village car park on the Millennium Green is infested with usulina and polyporous squamosus which are fungi. The tree leans towards the Village Hall car park and the root system of the tree are affected by the fungi. Two independent tree surgeons have recommended that the tree be felled. It is with great regret that the tree will be cut down, but the Trustees belief that it is the only possible option that is safe given the trees location. A section of the trunk will be left on the green when the tree is cut down. The logs will be auctioned at the barbecue on 11th June
