BELL TIMES –You may have noticed that we are ringing the “before school” and “home time” bells slightly earlier and that there are 2 bells at these times. The first bell, in both cases, is a warning bell. In the morning it alerts our students and teachers that they need to be proceeding to class lines, as well as giving our children a chance to use the toilets and bubblers before going to lines. In the afternoon, the bell alerts teachers to the fact that they should have rooms tidied and students ready to leave before the second bell. Also, if classes are out in the park for P.E. or sport, it gives them time to get back in to the school grounds. APPROACHING OTHER CHILDREN –I know that Mr Callow has written about this previously. AT NO TIME should any parent approach the child/children of another family. If there is a problem please see your child’s class teacher, a member of the Executive, myself or Mr Callow (when he returns). MEDICATION –It is vitally important that our office staff have adequate medication for the students who need to be medicated throughout the day. It is also important that the children who need to be medicated at home, prior to coming to school have received this medication. Recently, we have had children coming to school unmedicated or their medication has run out. This is an inconven- ience for staff and hinders the child’s learning. SUPPORTED”

Good Afternoon

I spent a very enjoyable 3 days with Stage 3 students and teachers at their end of year camp, held at Forster Bunkhouses.

Everyone had a great time learning about our local industries, using the park facilities (especially the water slide) and being away from home for a while.

I was thinking, as we spent our longest night (the first one), how things have changed since I went on my first school camp, 37 years ago. No mobile phones, ipods, USB’s, colour TV’s, computers –the fax machine hadn’t even been invented!

Our children are really growing up in a challenging, technological world. A lot of the things now being taught in school were the role of the parent in years gone by.

I really appreciated the hard work done by Mrs Goldie and Miss Smith, two young teachers at the start of their careers, with families of their own.

LOCKDOWN - We held a successful lockdown practice on Tuesday 18th November. We are required to hold these and evacuation practices throughout the year. While hoping that we never have to take part in the real thing, we can review our procedures to ensure the safety of all people on our site.

MR CALLOW’S RETURN –On the subject of Mr Callow, we should know in the next few weeks what is happening. I will, of course, keep you informed.

MEDICATION –It is vitally important that our office staff have adequate medication for the students who need to be medicated throughout the day. It is also important that the children who need to be medicated at home, prior to coming to school have received this medication. Recently, we have had children coming to school unmedicated or their medication has run out. This is an inconven-ience for staff and hinders the child’s learning. STAGE 3 REPORT

TON’O’FUN WAS A TONNE OF FUN!! On Wednesday 19th October, the major-ity of Stage 3 came to school very ex-cited. WHY? Because it was the first day of camp. After a quick meeting under the Stage 3 cola, we boarded the bus at 9.45am and left at 10.15am for Forster Bunkhouses, aka, Ton’O’Fun. As soon as we arrived we were called to another meeting before setting up our cabins for the two nights. After room inspections,

the girls climbed onto another bus and headed to Blackhead Beach. While we were waiting for the boys we played a quick game of cricket when the boys arrived we went to the rock platform. The next day was lined up to be a big one. After breakfast we

were split into groups of boys and girls. The girl’s first activity was the Oyster Farms while the boys got to stay at Ton’O’Fun and play sport. We all then got together at the Fish Co-op and then the boys went to the Oyster Farms while the girls went back to Ton’O’Fun. On the last day we went to the dump, aka, the Recycling Centre. Overall, our Stage 3 Camp was very educational. Natalie Price 5/6 M
