Ysu;—His Excellency the Governor having approved the appointment of Sub-Inspector Kelly as Clerk in the Office of the Superintendent of Police, the following arrangement with respect to the Supervision of the Stations named in the margin will come into force from this date:— Sergeant H. Circular Orders and Miscellaneous Information.

CO. Ysu;—His Excellency the Governor having approved the appointment of Sub-Inspector Kelly as Clerk in the Office of the Superintendent of Police, the following arrangement with respect to the Supervision of the Stations named in the margin will come into force from this date:—

Sergeant H. IST. McLarty, residing in Perth, will take charge of the Perth, Canning, 36-inile, Albany Road, Bannister, and Williams River Police Stations. All correspondence connected with these Stations will be forwarded through him to the Superintendent of Police.

Sergeant Campbell, residing in Fremantle, will take charge of the Premantle, Pinjarrah, and Mandurah Police Stations. All correspondence connected with these Stations will be forwarded through him to the Superintendent of Police.

Lance-Scrgeant R. Furlong, residing at Guildford, will take charge of the Guildford and Gingin Police Stations. All correspondence connected with these Stations will be forwarded through him to the Superintendent of Police.

The above Officers will inspect the Stations in their charge at least once in two months, forwarding to the Superintendent of Police the usual Inspection Report.

The pay for the different members of the Force at the above Stations will be placed to the credit of the above Officers monthly, in a Public Account at the National Bank of Australasia, and will be dis­tributed by them in the usual manner.

JOHN MCALLEN, t.L, Reg. No. 9503, at Fre­mantle, on the 26th ult., by P.Cs. McKenna and Taylor; charged with leading an immoral life. His ticket-of-leave revoked, 2nd inst.

Inquests. On the 2nd inst., at the Colonial Hospital, Perth,

before E. W. Landor, P.M., and Coroner, on the body of Andrew Kinsella, exp., late 2302, who died at Narrogin, on the 1st inst. Verdict—" Accidental death by being run over by his waggon."

On the 28th ult., at the Fremantle Police Court, before J.. G. Slade, R.M., and Coroner, on the body of Emily Summerfield, who was found dead in her bed on the 24th ult. Verdict—" Death from suffoca­tion while in a state of drunkenness."

On the 25th ult., at Northampton, before E. H. Laurence, R.M. and Coroner, on the bodv of Henry Wood, t.L, Reg. No. 8449, who it is alleged shot himself, while lost in the bush, in company of Robert Peel, exp., late 8385, and William Harrison, exp., late 9461, near the Geraldine Mine, on the 1st February, 1878. Verdict—" Found dead in the bush, but not sufficient evidence to show by what means the deceased came by his death."

Miscellaneous. EMMA FAGG, prostitute; charged at Fremantle

Police Court, on the 1st inst., by L.S. O'Connell, with supplying spirituous liquor to a prohibited person, on the 27th ult. Pined £2.

MAEK PADBUEY, exp., late 3705 ; charged at Bun­bury Police Court, on the 21st ult., by Joseph Logue, Inspector of Sheep, with neglecting to renew his compulsory license, on the 28th November, 1877. Fined ^£22 14s. 6d. and costs. Also, charged with having a flock of sheep infected with scab, and neglecting to brand them with the letter S. Pined c£20 and costs.

WILLIAM WELCH, local prisoner, exp., late Reg. No. 9345; charged at Perth Police Court, on the 4th inst., by P.C. W. Barron, with stealing fruit from the garden at Government House, on the 3rd inst. Sentenced to two months' imprisonment.

JOHN HAWES : charged at Dongarra Police Court, on the 21st ult., by P.C. Moriarty, with entering the prisoners' day room, at Donga.rra Lockup, for some unlawful purpose, on the 18th ult. Fined 20s. and costs.

JULIA COOK ; charged at Dongarra Police Court, on the 21st ult., by L.C. Laurence, with supjilying spirituous liquor to ab. native, Noble. Fined .£5 and costs.

Some time since 25th ult., some person or persons have pulled down the fencing and carried part away from Mr. Geo. Randell's grant, Russell Square, Perth.

EDWAED CONNOE, c.p., 7373; charged at Perth Police Court, on 4th inst., by P.C. McCaffrey, with allowing an intoxicated person to remain on his licensed premises. Fined £2.

Horses and Cattle. Strayed from the Police Paddock, Williams, on

the 23rd ult.,—grey gelding, 9 years, 15 hands 3in. high, branded 2T. near shoulder, bred by Thomas York, Gingin; grey gelding, 12 years, 15 hands lin. high, branded L., blotched under saddle, bred by J. Atkinson, Bindoon; bay gelding, 9 years, 15 hands lin. high, branded W. C. 3 B. near side under saddle, 35 near shoulder, bred by Samuel Burges, York; bay gelding, 9 years, 16 hands high, branded N. near side under saddle, bred by C. Clinch. These horses are all shod.

Sold at the Williams, on the 25th ult., by order of the Resident Magistrate,—chestnut filly, about two years old, 12 hands high, no brand visible.

Lost or stolen, from Thomas Smith's run, near Vasse, since 1st ult.,—one cow, red with white spots, branded A.K. on off rump.

Stolen, on the 25th ult., from the stable of J. H. King, of the Helena,—bay pony, gelding, 4 years, 13 hands, star on forehead, snip on nose, off hind foot white, branded R. D. M. 7 near side under saddle, and S. in semi-circle on near shoulder.

Cruelty to Animals. MAEGAEET DEAEING, charged at Dongarra Police

Court, on the 21st ult., by L.C. Lawrence, with work­ing a horse while in an unfit state. Fined 20s. and costs.

A L F E E D K K A E N E Y , lately carrying on business as a butcher, at Queenscliffe, is missing since 18th ult. He left his house about 5 a.m., on that date with the expressed intention of bathing in the sea, and shortly afterwards the main , portion of his clothes were found on the beach, which would lead to the belief t ha t he had been drowned, only that a person who knew him, though not very well, states he saw him in the train which left Geelong for Mel­bourne at 8'23 a.m. on the above date. This, together with the fact tha t Kearney is said to have been in financial difficulties, has given rise to the supposition tha t he has absconded. Description—A native of Tasmania, where he has brothers still residing, 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 in. high, l ight build, stoops slightly, dark sandy whiskers, beard and moustache, centre fingers of left hand and top jo in t of first finger of r ight hand cut off, lump on left wr i s t ; photograph in Detective Office, Mel­bourne .—0. 903, i 2 t h February, 1878.

Conditional Release Holder Reg. No. 7982, John Evans, reports at North­

Reg. No. 8004, John Garner, reported his depar­ture at Bunbury, on 27th ult., for Champion Bay.

Incendiarism. Between 1 and 2 a.m. the morning of the 27th ult.,

a stack of hay, about 7 tons, the property of J . T. Woods, near Newcastle, was destroyed by fire. Two boys slept near the stack, but could not tell how it caught fire. A track of a pony was seen as if coming from the bush to the hay stack, but no foot tracks were discovered. William Gorman, exp., late 2250, suspected.

On the 2nd inst., from the premises of Joseph Bovell, Busselton,—one pig, about 3 weeks old.— C.I. 90.

On the 2nd inst., from Robert Pouracre's hut, Drake's Brook,— kangaroo skiu rug (tanned), gnawed at one corner, 1 new monkey jacket, black cloth, red lining, large pannican, ^Ib. tea, 21bs. sugar, some beef and damper, pocket knife with corkscrews and phleme on handle, 2 white kerchiefs, 1 colored silk do^ 1 cotton bag. On the 27th ult., from the person of Charles John Ennis,.while at Albany,—some money, testimonials, photographs, surgical instruments and gold studs.— C.L 97.

Between the 25th February and 8th March, 1878, from Maitland Brown's residence, Geraldton,—gold Albert chain, plain gold locket, gold heart-shaped locket with precious stones spelling ruby, emerald garnet, amethy.st, ruby diamond, small gold heart-shaped locket set with a diamond, two gold lockets with designs chased, star-shaped brooch with rubies and turquoise set in gold, pearl ring with diamond in centre, pearl ring with pink coral in centre, seal with T. B. and crest, set gold studs chased, pair sleeve links, set studs, gold rims with bronze bird and flowers raised, sleeve studs, gold pin with ruby, pair gold earrings, plain, pair gold earrings with blue stones, gold ribbon slide, chased gold pencil case with Maitland Brown's name on it. Sometime during the night of the 9th inst., from C. G. H. Cooper's new store, Hay Street, Perth,—a quantity of biscuits. Description—large square biscuits. This robbery was effected by breaking the iron hoop and forcing open the case.—C.L 100.

Stolen about one month ago from Peter Holt's residence, Dongarra,—chestnut mare, white star in forehead, about 14 hands high, about 4 years old, branded W near shoulder, rather blotched. Thomas Smith, exp., late 8988, strongly suspected. This man is now at Victoria Plains, and it is believed he has the mare with him.

Sold at York, on the Sth inst., by order of S. E. Burges, Esq., J.P.,—bay mare, black points, white spots about body, 14 hands 2in. high, branded IC on off shoulder.

Special Inquiry. Of&cers in charge of Divisions will cause enquiry

to be made in their respective districts of the where­abouts of Patrick Finn, exp., late Eeg. No. 328. He arrived in the convict ship " Mermaid" in 1852 ; was employed at Mr. Stephen Parker's, York, and married on the 12th October, 1854, Margaret Devine. In September or October 1860 he was convicted at York, and received a sentence of 2 years' imprison­ment. Description—55 years of age, Sft. l l f in . high, grey hair, hazel eyes, round visage, fresh com­plexion, sandy wiskers, two letters, Dundee, left breast; is a farm laborer. The result of such en­quiries to be forwarded to the Detective Office, Perth, without delay.

Sometime since the 2nd inst., from Thomas Wilson's premises, Murray Street, Perth,—two saucepans, one large and one small.—C.I. 102.

On the 28th ult., from Arthur Eosselloty's dwel­ling house, Busselton,—cheque drawn on plain white paper, on the W. A. Bank, by G. F. Guerrier, favor of Hutching, amount .£1 ISs. 9d., date not known.— C.L 103.

On the 13th inst., from the person of George Baker, at Molloy's yard, Murray Street, Perth,—two half sovereigns, one 5s. piece, one shilling, and six­pence. This report is considered very doubtful.— C.I. 104.

On the 16th inst., from Thomas Chinnery's garden, Stirling Street, Perth,—three water melons.—C.I. 105.

Sometime before the 10th inst., from Sir A. P. Burt's residence, Adelaide Terrace, Perth,—9 pieces of carpet, 4 pieces floor cloth, one chair, three delf plates, 2 table knives fwhite handles), 1 tennon saw, and 1 burnisher, these articles were recovered found in the possession of Joseph Miles, exp., 2663. On the 17th inst., from the person of John Williams, while asleep in Clarke's lodging house, Fremantle,—7s. 6d. in silver, and 2d. in copper. Vide Apprehensions.—C.l. 107.

On the 7th or Sth inst., from Samuel Henry Hope's workshop, Dongarra,—riding saddle, nearly new, restuffed with horse hair, pad fastened with screws, cantle broken.—C.I. 108.

On the 13th inst., from Thomas Donegan's billiard room, Newcastle,—12 billiard balls.—C.I. 109.

On th« 12th inst., from the residence of Henry Somers, York,—black cloth dress coat, nearly new,

turned down collar, black silk facings, closely stitched, black cloth vest, 20s. in silver and some coppers. Coat and vest identifiable.—C.L 110.

On the 17th inst., from Edward Ashton's residence, Murray Street, Perth,—poodle dog, white with a few brown spots on the body, about 4 months' old, brown ears (flopped), answers to the name of " Turk." Owner will give reward for its recovery.—C.L 111.

On the night of the 16th inst., from a trap in the yard of the Emerald Isle Hotel, Fremantle,—light tweed double breasted overcoat, silk handkerchief, puce ground, with pillars and other emblems of Freemasonry, the property of Dr. Wilson. Tweed coat recovered by Det. Corpl. McKay. A man known by name of " Kangaroo Jack " committed this robbery.—C.L 112.

A p p r e h e n s i o n s . THOMAS CONNOR, at Bunburv, on the 12th inst.,

by P.C. Holland and W.P.C. Davis; charged with being drunk, using obscene and profane language, and resisting the police. Fined £2 or one month imprisonment.

JAMES HATHURST, exp., late 1994, at Bunbuiy, by Sergeant Gilchrist, on the 13th inst.; charged with being in the possession of a two foot rule, and not giving a satisfactory account of the same. Eemanded.

JOHN JONES, exp., late 9934,. alias NATIVE DOG, on the Pinjarrah-Williams Eoad, by L.C. Urquhart, on the 9th inst.; charged with wandering about the country, having no visible means of support. Sentenced, on 12th inst., to 3 months' imprisonment as a rogue and vagabond.

for repairs to Andrew McPherson, exp., late 8071, at Tork , about 7 weeks ago. Two days afterwards McPherson left T o r k and nothing has been heard of the watch since. Description—open face, silver Geneva, short gold liands, white dial, Eoman figures, second hands, number or maker 's name not known. This watoh is the property of Joseph Wilson, shep­herd, in the employ of Norris Taylor, near Stanton Springs.

Strayed from the Wheal Ellen Mine, Northampton, between the beginning of February and the l l t h March,—police horses " Frank" and " Nicol Bay No. 3." Description—of police horse " F r a n k " : about 15 hands 2iu. high, very dark bay, branded on near ribs GB, had No. 3 brass bell on neck, fastened with a stirrup leather ; " Nicol Bay No. 3 " : about 16 hands 3in. high, bay, branded B off side ribs. These horses were seen about 3 weeks ago, by Mr. Oxenham near Port Harbor Thicket, where one of his sons found the brass bell.

Absconder. 76. HAEEY, ab. nat., escaped from L.C. Parker,

at the 77 mile, Albany Eoad, on the l l t h inst., while on escort from the Williams to Perth, under a sen­tence of 6 months' imprisonment, for manslaughter. No description of this escaped prisoner sent.
