A N D R E L A T I V E S I N P A L E S T I N E .

I t is notified by the B r i t i s h Post Office that arrangements are being made for the intro­duction shortly of a scheme for the exchange of letters between Disp laced Persons i n the B r i t i s h Zone of Germany and their home coun­tries, i nc lud ing Palestine. The service is i n ­tended solely for Displaced Persons and their relatives to whom they may wish to wri te . I t is emphasised t h a t n o r m a l e x t e r n a l p o s t a l ser­vices between Germany a n d o t h e r c o u n t r i e s c a n n o t yet be opened g e n e r a l l y .

2. Deta i ls of the proposed arrangements are as fo l lows: —

(a) E a c h Displaced Person i n the B r i t i s h Zone of Germany w i l l be able to wri te two letters — each l imi ted to one page—in each month. .

( b ) These letters w i l l not bear postage stamps but w i l l be marked i n red as follows : —

O (c)־' n receipt of a letter from a Displaced Person, the relative may reply, being care­f u l to 'use the f u l l address and to fol low the other instructions given by the Dis ­placed Person i n h i s letter. Relatives s h o u l d n o t w r i t e unless they have f i r s t r e c e i v e d a l e t t e r themselves. I t ' i s desired that the re­latives should not send more than two let­ters a month, each l imi t ed to one page. The postage on the reply letters sent f rom Pa ­lestine to Disp laced Persons should be pre­p a i d at the normal in terna t ional letter rate i.e. 20 mils for the first 20 grammes and 13 mils for each succeeding 20 grammes.

Tenders are invi ted for the supply of calves to the Cen t r a l Laboratories, Department of Hea l th , between 1st January , 1946, and the end of A p r i l , 1946•

2. The calves w i l l be suppl ied weekly i n groups 10—15 or thereabouts. A max imum of 100 may be required.

3• They must be healthy, free from disease, scratches or abrasions and external parasites and i n good condit ion, j t

4. They must be not less than 8 and not more than 12 months old.

5. They must be accompanied, on the day of supply, by a certificate from a Government Veter inary Officer showing that they have been s t r ic t ly isolated for a week p r io r to delivery and are healthy and i n good condit ion and free from disease on the day of delivery.

6• The contractor shall supply food for the calves d u r i n g the per iod i n which •they are required to be accommodated i n the stables of the Cent ra l Laboratories. (120 hours).

7. The contractor shall remove the calves from the stables of the Cent ra l Laboratories when called upon to do so, and shal l arrange for their slaughter at an approved slaughter house immediately after removal. "••V->׳'',
