Campaign TIME

A dictator, by the dictionary, means “a person exercising absolute power, especially a ruler who has absolute, unre-stricted control in a govern-ment without he-reditary succes-sion.” And that is what we could find in our dicta-tor Camila Na-ranjo. She is not like others that I am not going to mention that have been given the power by his dad-dy or others that bought the tri-umph, knowing that elections are a luxury reserved. Camila is different, she goes and fight for what she wants, Camila

doesn´t accept a no as an answer, and it has been proved that dictatorship out-performs democracy in growth and economic develop-

ment. If she rules, she will bring with her a social stability because, in the first place, dic-tatorship is a good breeding ground for per-sonal discipline and order, it will permit better control of the variables of hu-man develop-ment.

That is why dictatorship re-gimes are going to support

countries to move on from civil wars and focus on devel-opment, for the reason that it has flexibility in economic policies that breeds growth. Because instead of worrying about the Redistribution Pressures, dictators look to promote the development and diminish social differences.

To conclude the loger lasting and biggest economic miracles have occurred under dicta-

torships. It is for these reasons and many more I think Camila Naranjo should win.

Four roads and one uncertain future

What do people need to make their voices heard? Democracy, the type of govern-ment in which the ma-jority of the people decide what to do in political issues. We could see that, the day of the campaing when the democratic leader presented his

realistic proposal that in the future can ben-efit everyone. People stood listening to the proposal of the lead-er, very attentive to his words because they felt that this time everything would be different and we would find feasable solutions to our prob-

lems.

The dictator, opposed to the other leaders, was a leader that threatened our free-dom, our democracy. We can simply review the history and con-clude that this leader

can be the most evil dictator, who cannot just break the balance in which we are im-mersed, but can also cause damage to each institution of our country. So. What decision will we make as citizens? Will we continue living in de-

mocracy?.

On Wednesday April, 30 2014 a political de-bate took place at Antares School. There were 4 can-didates; each with different plat-forms and pro-posals. The 4 can-didates were the king, dictator, popu-list leader and the Dem-ocratic Leader

The King proposed to al-ways take control of the kingdom as well as offering compassion and love to his people. The Democratic leader offered to establish a new order, so students would be able to choose their own hours of study, which topics they want to study and to prolong recess-es. The Populist leader talked about how she was going to give the students the power, because nobody has the right to control them, and the students are the people who construct, build and improve the class. The dictator said that stu-dents represent something together and they will get

further with cooperation, their flag will represent ide-as, symbolize their faith and the people will be stronger

not weaker. These are some of the questions that were asked, to the populist lead-er: “Why are you giving away presents to the peo-ple? Aren’t you worried they will just take them and then vote for another lead-er?” She answered that she feels the support of her classmates so she doesn't doubt that the people will vote for her. She said she was prepared to give her life for the people so they will feel her support. There was also a question for the king: “You’re awfully young to be a king, do you think you will be able to handle the responsibility?” He answered with a strong voice that he will lead his

kingdom, the same way as his father did, with wise thoughts and he can always see himself like his father when he makes decisions.

To the dictator it was a not so difficult answer:

“How would you han-dle a rebellion?” She answered that she has the army support and with the army support she has the power to

maintain the order and especially to handle ene-

mies and to not allow them to be part of their nation. The last candidate was the democratic leader called G.G.G .The question was ; “How will the future gener-ation function without a good education?” He said that it will function very well, because they were go-ing to have new teachers that will be specialists to give classes whenever the student wants. The students can choose if they want to have classes or spend time with their friends.

them every 4 years. The king is there for you, and you don´t have to choose him. He will be there until he dies.

With a king you will have work and you will gain money. The only condition is that you have to be loyal to the king and the country. With a king you will be

safe when you go out, be-cause the king uses his se-curity to get those killers. Then he is going to punish them and kill them, so you will be safe every time that you go out, so your kids can play in a park.

G ood morning fellow

classmates and dearest

friends. It's a beautiful day for

change, isn't it? After years of op-

pression and not getting every-

thing that you deserve, I am here

to get you what is rightfully yours.

I am here to give you back your

power and I pray that you will use

it. I would not have a friend treat-

ed any differently than with the

highest respect and dignity and

therefore that is how I will treat

you, my friends. I will treat you as

if the classroom was in the palm

of your hands because it is.

You my friends are who construct

this class, not a king, not a dicta-

tor, not anyone else, not even me.

No single person could construct

something so beautiful, so im-

portant by himself or herself.

Which is why I propose to you

that we do it together. Unlike a

king, I do not have thirst for pow-

er, unlike the dictator I do not

crave control, walk beside me, be-

cause we are equals and together

we can make our classroom a bet-

ter place.

I will be more than your leader, I

struggles of school as it is now. I

plan on fixing as many problems

as possible immediately.

Dilemmas such as the broken fan,

which may not seem like a big

deal to leaders who are trying to

rule kingdoms and order around

whole countries, matter to me. I

believe that the little things, right

down to the uncomfortable chairs,

make a difference in your lives.

Imagine a classroom where air

conditioners and beanbag chairs

were at your disposal. One of my

strongest beliefs is that we need a

classroom that suits our growing

needs, we need a modern educa-

tional environment that grows

with us instead of restricting us.

My friends I can make all that

possible. With all this new tech-

nology we no longer need to work

as hard or write as much. A vote

for me is a vote for technological

freedom... and a brand new tablet.

Lastly, I want to give you back

King Cake

Directions:

Preheat the oven 350 degrees. Com-bine the warm water, yeast and 2 tea-spoons sugar in a small bowl. Mix well and set aside to a warm place for about 10 minutes. Combine the 4 cups of flour, 1/2 cup sugar, salt, nutmeg, lemon rind and add warm milk, melted butter, egg yolks and yeast mixture. Beat until smooth. Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface. Knead in enough remaining flour until the dough is no longer sticky. Continue kneading until the dough is smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes). Place the dough in a well-greased bowl. Turn once so greased surface is on top.

Cover the dough and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk (about 1 1/2 hours). Punch the dough down and place on a lightly floured surface. Sprinkle with the citron and knead until the citron is evenly distributed. Shape the dough into a cylinder, about 30 inches long. Place the cylinder on a buttered bak-ing sheet. Shape into a ring, pinching ends together to seal. Place a well-greased 2-pound coffee can or short-ening can in the center of the ring to maintain shape during baking. Press the King Cake Baby, pecan half or dried bean into the ring from the bot-tom so that it is completely hidden by the dough. Cover the ring with a tow-el, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk, about 45 minutes.

Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove the coffee can immedi-ately. Allow the cake to cool. For the glaze: Combine the ingredients and beat until smooth. To assemble, drizzle cake with the glaze. Sprinkle with sugar crystals, alternating colors. Cut into the cake and hope you do not get the baby.
