Introduction This report presents the developments in non-oil commodity exports and imports of the Kingdom of

Saudi Arabia for the Third Quarter of 2016 as compared to the same period of the previous year, 2015,

according to the statistical methods and international standard classifications, mainly the Harmonized

System (H.S).

It should be noted that the statistics presented in this report are preliminary and they may undergo

some modifications in case of a data update.

Note: There might be some differences in the aggregates of numbers or percentages due to rounding.

1.1. Developments in Exports

Non-oil exports of Saudi Arabia amounted to 41285 million riyals in the Third Quarter (Q3) of 2016 as

compared to 46166 million riyals in the corresponding period of the previous year, down by 4881

million riyals or 10.6%.

Non-oil exports in 2016Q3 were also lower than those in the preceding quarter (2016Q2) by 4102

Total imports of Saudi Arabia amounted to 114012 million riyals in the Third Quarter (Q3) of 2016 as

compared to 157305 million riyals in the corresponding period of the previous year, down by 43293


Imports in 2016Q3 were also lower than those in the preceding quarter (2016Q2) by 22939 million

riyals or 16.7%.

4. Ratio of Non-oil Exports to Imports, Annual In 2015, non-oil exports amounted to 189901 million riyals and accounted for 29.0% of the imports.

The previous year, non-oil exports amounted to 217030 million riyals and accounted for 33.3% of the

imports.

5. Trade between Saudi Arabia and GCC Countries In the Third Quarter of 2016, non-oil exports of Saudi Arabia of national origin to GCC countries

reached 7432 million riyals as compared to 7315 million riyals in the same period of the previous year,

with an increase of 118 million riyals corresponding to 1.6%. Saudi Arabia’s imports of goods

originated from GCC countries amounted to 8414 million riyals as compared to 11358 million riyals in

the same period of the previous year, with a decrease of 2944 million riyals corresponding to 25.9%.
