Take a walk to see what is in bloom, what is ready for harvest, and how to care for herbs into the fall. You will make and enjoy herbal tea and an herbal tincture, and learn to prepare herbs for drying for winter storage. Learn about some of the wild edible and medicinal herbs grown at the farm, and how to use them in several delicious recipes. $20/person plus $10 materials fee. Hallock State Park Preserve, 6062 Sound Avenue, Riverhead There’s a new State Park nearby - join us for a guided nature walk! The recently-opened Hallock State Park Preserve offers beautiful fields, woodland trails, Hallock Pond, and beachfront on the Long Island Sound, all perfectly suited for nature exploration. Naturalist John Turner and local guide Richard Wines will lead you to point out migrating birds, animal tracks, woodland flora, and more. You will also hear about the conservation of the parkland and the adjacent farm field -- over 529 acres in total.This newly completed trail system is the perfect place to celebrate National Public Lands Day! Learn from herbalist Heather Cusack to prepare for the planting of garlic, one of our favorite culinary and medicinal herbs, make and drink some delicious herbal tea mixtures, and take home several new recipes for use with your herbs. This class will also include instruction on preparing fire cider, a winter herbal remedy that is also often used as a salad vinegar. $20/person plus $10 materials fee. Meet us at Bridge Gardens for a workshop with the professionals at Summerhill Landscapes, and learn how to properly design with - and plant - a variety of bulbs that will provide early to late spring color in your garden. Presentation will include information on sourcing, selecting, and planting bulbs. Every attendee will receive some bulbs to take home! The Peconic Land Trust’s winter program at Quail Hill Farm in Amagansett gives shareholders access to local produce from the farm's greenhouses and root cellar. Enjoy vegetables such as carrots, bok choy, mixed salad greens, turnips,
