Organized by the North Fork Reform Synagogue, you’ll meet the extraordinary people who have dedicated their lives to producing the local foods that make the North Fork so special. Go behind the scenes at 20 different locations, including the Trust’s Ag Center, local farms, vineyards, and food producers and enjoy tours, cooking demonstrations, talks, and tastings. Locations include Macari Wines, 8 Hands Farm, Deep Roots Farm, North Fork Hops, Greenport Harbor Brewery, Lavender by the Bay Farm, North Fork Roasting Company, Sang Lee Farms, Southold Bay Oysters, and more!

The late summer and fall are great times of the year to visit Bridge Gardens. The herb and vegetable gardens are full of color. Late summer perennial beds are still flowering, the hedges are lush, the trees are beginning to turn and the summer heat has waned.

The gardens are open weekends September through October.

Also, make sure to join Paul Wagner of Greener Pastures Organics (in partnership with Perfect Earth Project) for our free Expert Advice program

on sustainable lawncare. Paul will be at Bridge Gardens every Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Take a walk to see what is in bloom, what is ready for harvest, and how to care for herbs into the fall. You will make and enjoy herbal tea and an herbal tincture, and learn to prepare herbs for drying for winter storage. Learn about some of the wild edible and medicinal herbs grown at the farm, and how to use them in several delicious recipes. $20/person plus $10 materials fee. Hallock State Park Preserve, 6062 Sound Avenue, Riverhead There’s a new State Park nearby - join us for a guided nature walk! The recently-opened Hallock State Park Preserve offers beautiful fields, woodland trails, Hallock Pond, and beachfront on the Long Island Sound, all perfectly suited for nature exploration. Naturalist John Turner and local guide Richard Wines will lead you to point out migrating birds, animal tracks, woodland flora, and more. You will also hear about the conservation of the parkland and the adjacent farm field -- over 529 acres in total.This newly completed trail system is the perfect place to celebrate National Public Lands Day! Learn from herbalist Heather Cusack to prepare for the planting of garlic, one of our favorite culinary and medicinal herbs, make and drink some delicious herbal tea mixtures, and take home several new recipes for use with your herbs. This class will also include instruction on preparing fire cider, a winter herbal remedy that is also often used as a salad vinegar. $20/person plus $10 materials fee. Meet us at Bridge Gardens for a workshop with the professionals at Summerhill Landscapes, and learn how to properly design with - and plant - a variety of bulbs that will provide early to late spring color in your garden. Presentation will include information on sourcing, selecting, and planting bulbs. Every attendee will receive some bulbs to take home! The Peconic Land Trust’s winter program at Quail Hill Farm in Amagansett gives shareholders access to local produce from the farm's greenhouses and root cellar. Enjoy vegetables such as carrots, bok choy, mixed salad greens, turnips,

Please join us for the final workshop in our organic rose series with a discussion on techniques that will benefit your roses as the colder weather sets in. Led by Garden Manager Rick Bogusch and Paul Wagner, owner of Greener Pastures Organics, you’ll learn the necessary mulching, pruning and soil care for the dormant season to help reduce overwintering disease spores and insect activity.
