Fly to the North Pole. Stay at Barneo Ice Camp

After supplying you with your protective polar c loth ing we depart Longyearbyen in Spitsbergen (Norway) on the 2.5 hour Antonov-74 jet flight to Barneo Ice Camp where you are welcomed by your Icetrek representative. Located at approximately 89.30 degrees north, Barneo is a temporary Russian station that caters for the exclusive band of travelers that visit the North Pole every year. It will be your home for the next two days.

At Barneo you will be escorted to your heated accommodation tent where you can make yourself at home. The tent is expansive and equipped with bunks and mattresses – a warm and comfortable haven. At first opportunity we will fly in the Mi-8 helicopter 40 minutes to the North Pole. To stand at the apex of the Earth is a unique opportunity and you have two hours to soak up the experience. This enigmatic region is like no other on earth; an ocean where pressured ice and leads of open water dominate the landscape; where the skies are blessed with 24-hour daylight; the point at which so much exploration history rests. The North Pole has a

rich history and your guide will be happy to relate stories of struggle and achievement from centuries of Arctic exploration. Your guide can also take you on a short walk or you can simply spend your time filming and photographing.

We return to Barneo for a celebratory dinner and evening of chatting with explorers, scientists, guides and pilots from all over the world. The communal mess tent is the hub of social activities. Music, conversation, lectures and a souvenir shop are all found in this cocoon of warmth.

The following morning you can relax in the comfort of Barneo or go on a local walk with your guide. If the weather was not suitable for the North Pole flight the previous day, you will go today and return to Barneo in time for the Antonov flight back to Longyearbyen.

North Pole Deluxe takes you to the top of the world in style and comfort. Two jet flights, two helicopter flights and a night at Barneo Ice Camp give you the deluxe version of North Pole travel.

After November 30 the cost for this expedition rises by €2000. Pay early to avoid this surcharge.

Use of polar clothing is provided but we can provide a Polar Clothing Pack for an additional €2000.

DAY ACTIVITY

1Arrive Longyearbyen, Norway. Meet your guide, clothing issue and check-in to hotel. Welcome dinner

2 Preparation, packing, clothing check. Formal expedition briefing

3Morning flight to Barneo Ice Camp. Settle in, have lunch, followed by flight to North Pole. Return to Barneo and stay the night.

4Relax in camp or take a walk on the sea ice with a guide, or fly to North Pole if yesterday was not possible. Flight back to Longyearbyen.
