It’s amazing to think that we’re already half way through Term 3. The paper planes competitions are continuing for two more weeks. Congratulations to all our winners so far! Well done to all of our entrants, winners or not. It’s great to have you participate and we love to hear about that ‘have a go’ attitude. The paper planes competition is the Year 6 fundraiser to help fund the Grip Leadership training for our Year 5 students. These will of course be the students vying to be our Captains and Councillors for 2020. Wednesday of Week 4 our Year 5 students attended the CARES bike and road safety excursion. From all reports it was a great day out there. The most pleasing thing I heard though was the report from Mr Church about how well behaved, respectful and courteous our students were. I know this sounds like I’m repeating myself a great deal but that’s because news like this never gets old. I am always proud of our students when I hear them being described as respectful, safe, and courteous or any other adjective that portrays them in such a positive light. We know it’s par for the course nowadays but it doesn’t seem that long ago when this was not the norm. Well done Year 5! We are proud of you and you have shown yourselves to be wonderful ambassadors of our school. Last week we had two teachers from Buninyong PS in Dubbo pay us a visit to have a look at some of the wonderful work being done in our AVID classrooms. They left the school very impressed with our amazing students, teachers and SLSOs in the classrooms they visited. They left the school very happy to have seen the great work being done in our classrooms and invited Northlakes PS to possibly visit Buninyong with a class of students and incorporate with a western excursion. That might be one to consider for 2020. Last Friday our Year 1 and 2 Aboriginal students attended the Children’s Day celebrations at Wyong Racecourse. We had 17 students attend and they had a fantastic day of fun and activities. Once again the reports were all as expected. Our students were respectful and very well behaved, which is of course what we want to hear. Children having fun, enjoying activities but not forgetting their respect and great manners. Looking at our calendar there are so many events to keep tracking. I urge you to keep a close eye on due dates so that we don’t have children missing out. The Book Week character parade is on this Wednesday! I hope you’ve got your costume organised. As always this promises to be a very exciting day. See you all on Wednesday at the parade Thank you for your continued support. Have a great fortnight. There were all sorts of fun activities. The students enjoyed Aboriginal arts and crafts, music and stories, some great Aboriginal themed food and drink, the petting zoo, face painting, Aboriginal sand art and more. It was fantastic to see the engagement of the children with culture and community! Thank you Barang Regional Alliance and Yerrin for such a great day and for ordering perfect weather for us too! You know what an awesome day it was when students are saying "it was the best day ever". We were so proud of our NLPS students who were sensational ambassadors for our school, using their manners, patience and best behaviour all day. All said and done, I can't wait for next year.
