THE WANING OF SUMMER
As the summer sun begins to set on the seasons end, our thoughts drift towarthe coming months. Cooler weather, bustling schoolyards and the sweet, autuair beckoning us enjoy all ofautumns glory. Our mornings will soon be filled

an opportunity to catch a rowdy game of football. In the autumn we seem to h
more time to focus on the important thingsfriends, family and home.
With more time on or hands we have an opportunity to reevaluate our homes

Nostalgia is so very blessed to employ The Tin MansWife as one of their vendors. Dinah Reeder is an
expert on everything repurposed, recycled, upcycled, revamped, re-loved, vintage and crafty. She loves to
refer to her trade as mid-life housecleaning. Whichever
way she describes her work we all know that she has anamazing knack for seeing a discarded item assomething beautiful and, in the end, makes us a
believer too.
She loves to share her passion for reusing vintage items
instead of buying new...and prove there is a world fullof things that need to be repurposed. Its her way ofhelping our environment. And, were glad she is as
inspired as she is...her creations help each of us to make
our world a prettier place.
The Tin Mans Wife happily shares with us The TinMans creativity as well. Mikes support of her work is
remarkable. They are the perfect example of thedynamic duo. His brawn and her beautiful ideas are a
perfect match.
Be sure to stop by Nostalgia soon to see The Tin ManWifesbooth and her handiwork in our front window.
Great work, Mike and Dinah!Caring for vintage flags can be easy!
If the flag has been displayed indoors, simply vacuum the flag lightly with your
upholstery attachment. Be sure to cover
the tip of the attachment with one ladysknee high stocking before you begin.
If there are soiled areas, fill your sinkwith warm and a mild detergent. Swish
the water to mix the soap into the water.
Do not scrub the flag. This could causedamage to the fabric.
Do not wring the fabric. Rinse the flagwith clean, cool water.
Roll the flag in a dry towel, press thetowel gently. Let sit for a few minutes.
Unroll and place on a drying rack.
Cheers for now.

Our dear, sweet flagthe Stars and Stripes, as shes been called forcenturies, has experienced an evolution since her first creation dur
the American Revolution. Regardless of the changes in her
appearance, she has always stood for freedom and theres a certainrespect that comes along with her existence. We wanted to sharesome of very serious rules that apply to how we display, collect and
treat the American flag.
Should be displayed from sunrise to sunset. Only displayed at night if illuminated in darkness. Never subjected to bad weather unless made from an all-
weather material.
Should be hoisted briskly and lowered ceremoniously. Displayed at the highest position of any flag display. Cannot be draped over any object such as a picnic table. Cannot touch anything below it such as the ground or wate If it gets dirty, it must be burned at a dignified ceremony.
We often have historic editions of our nations flag at Norwood and
Nostalgia for the Americana collector. Stop by soon! Happy
collecting!

SHES A GRAND OLD FLAG
For the Love of Militaria
The desire to collect militaria often
begins with our first sighting ofGrandpas military uniform hanging in
the back of the closet. Where did that
come from? Why is it so fancy? Whatdo all of those patches, ribbons and
medals mean? Curiosity peaks and a
new militaria collector is born.
The love of militaria teaches a collector
to honor and respect the freedoms our
forefathers fought forand the manysacrifices made for each of us by thesemen and women who wore the
emblems of our nations fighting
forces.
Typically, a collector will focus on one
particular war perhaps one that he
has a direct link withfor example, hisgreat grandfather who fought in WWII
or his aunt who served as a nurse in
Vietnam.
In recent history theres been an
increased interest in anything to do
with the Civil War. Photos, uniforms,
muskets, buttons and Confederatemoney are some of the most collected
items from this war period.
At Norwood and Nostalgia we carrymany good examples of the most
collectible militaria. Be sure visit us
soon! Well be waiting for you!
I f you are interested in becoming a vendor at Norwood Antique Mal l or Nostalgia, please let us know.
