    THE RECORDS - - Iowa is 10-0, 6-0, with wins over Illinois State(31-14), at Iowa State (31-17), Pisburgh (27-24), North Texas(62-16), at Wisconsin (10-6), Illinois (29-20), at Northwestern (40-10), Maryland (31-15), at Indiana (35-27) and Minnesota (40-35).

    Purdue is 2-8, 1-5, with wins over Indiana State (38-14) andNebraska (55-45). Purdue has lost to Marshall (41-31), VirginiaTech (51-24), Bowling Green (35-28), Michigan State (24-21),Minnesota (41-13), Wisconsin (24-7), Illinois (48-14) and North-western (21-14).

    THE SERIES - - Purdue holds a 46-36-3 advantage in the seriesthat began with 16-0 Iowa win in Iowa City in 1910. The Hawkeyeshave won four of the last ve meengs, including a 24-10 victorylast season at Purdue. Purdue’s most recent win in the serieswas a 27-24 decision in Iowa City in 2012. Iowa holds a 20-19-2advantage in games played in Iowa City.

     COACHING RECORDS - - Kirk Ferentz is in his 20th year as acollege head coach and his 17th year as Iowa’s head coach. Hiscareer record is 137-106 and he is 125-85 at Iowa. He ranks eighthin the Big Ten Conference in coaching victories.

    Iowa can clinch a tie for the West Division championship Saturday with a win over

    Purdue in Kinnick Stadium, and earn the division title outright with wins in their

    final two games, or one win and one Wisconsin loss.

    The Hawkeyes are 10-0 for the rst me in school history. Iowa won a school-record 11

    games in 2002 and 2009. The Hawkeyes also won 10 games in 1985, 1987, 1991, 2003,

    and 2004.

    Iowa is in the FBS top 10 in me of possession (6), turnover margin (7), giveaways (7)rush defense (9), and takeaways (10).

    Iowa has two road wins over ranked opponents (Wisconsin and Northwestern) for the

    rst me since 2002 (at No. 12 Penn State, 42-35; at No. 8 Michigan, 34-9). Alabama

    (3) is the only other school with two road wins over ranked opponents this season.

    Iowa ranks second in the Big Ten and seventh nationally with a plus-11 turnover

    margin. Iowa has scored 70 points off turnovers and leads the Big Ten with 13

    interceptions.

    The Hawkeyes are No. 1 in the Big Ten in me of possession (33:33), and have ve

    touchdown drives this season of 90-plus yards.

    Junior QB C.J. Beathard is 11-0 as Iowa’s starng quarterback. He is the only quarterbackin school history to win his rst 11 career starts. He is 5-0 on the road, 6-0 at home, and

    7-0 in the Big Ten. His rst career start came in Iowa’s 24-10 win at Purdue last season.

    Junior DB Desmond King leads the country with eight intercepons. His eight intercepons

    e the single-season school record (Lou King, 1981; Nile Kinnick, 1939) and e for 11th in

    Big Ten single-season annals.

    Jordan Canzeri (256), Akrum Wadley (204), and LeShun Daniels (195) have each rushed for at

    least 195 yards in a single game this season, making Iowa the rst FBS team since LSU in 1997 to

      21 SENIORS PLAY FINAL HOME GAME

      IOWA CAN EARN DIVISION TITLE 

      Iowa can clinch a e for the West Division championship Saturday with a win ove

    Purdue in Kinnick Stadium, and earn the division tle outright with wins in their nal tw

    games, or one win and one Wisconsin loss. The Badgers host Northwestern Saturday befor

    traveling to Minnesota. By virtue of a head-to-head win over Wisconsin earlier this season

    an Iowa victory over Purdue would qualify the Hawkeyes for the Big Ten championshi

    game in Indianapolis on Saturday, Dec. 5.

      Iowa has its best start in program history (10-0), due to excelling in all three phases o

    the game.

      OFFENSE: 

    • Iowa has scored 30 points or more in four straight Big Ten games for the rst me

    school history.

    • Iowa has a balanced oense. Its 4,214 total yards are divided by 2,117 yards rushing

    and 2,097 yards passing. Iowa has 30 rushing touchdowns, rst in the Big Ten and

    naonally.

    • Iowa ranks second in the Big Ten with 14 scrimmage plays of 40-plus yards. The Hawkeye

    had 12 scrimmage plays of 40-plus yards all of last season, and 13 such plays in 201

    and 2013 combined.

    DEFENSE: 

    • Iowa has allowed six rushing touchdowns; No. 1 in the conference and fourth naonall• Iowa leads the Big Ten in intercepons (13) and ranks second in takeaways (20) an

    turnover margin (+11).

    • Liming big plays: Iowa has allowed 12 scrimmage plays of 30-plus yards. Only Michiga

    (9) has allowed fewer among Big Ten teams.

    SPECIAL TEAMS:

    • Marshall Koehn’s 57-yard game-winning eld goal vs. Pi is the second longest in schoo

    history and the second longest in FBS this season.

    • Iowa’s two-man punt team of Dillon Kidd (43.1) and Marshall Koehn (46.2) rank fourt

      Iowa scored the game’s nal 24 points in a 24-10 Big Ten triumph over the Boilermaker

    at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayee.

    Iowa fell behind 10-0 aer a 39-yard intercepon return and a 42-yard eld goa

    However, the Hawkeyes answered before halime with 10 points via a 2-yard RB Mar

    Weisman rushing score and a 28-yard eld goal by K Marshall Koehn.  Iowa’s oense totaled 420 yards. QB C.J. Beathard completed 17-of-37 passes for 24

    yards with one touchdown in his rst career start, while Weisman led the ground aac

    with 76 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.

    The Hawkeyes dominated the second half,

    outscoring the Boilermakers 14-0. WR Kevonte

    Martin-Manley caught the game-winning

    touchdown, his rst score of the season, on a

    23-yard pass with 45 seconds le in the third

    quarter. Weisman tallied his second rushing score

    of the day, this me from ve yards out, to put

    the game out of reach.

      Eight dierent receivers caught at least one

    pass, with Marn-Manley leading the way withve recepons for 74 yards and scoring the game-

    winning touchdown.

      The Hawkeye defense limited Purdue to nine rst downs, 156 total yards -- 72 of whic

    were in the air -- forced two turnovers, six three-and-outs, and recorded six tackles fo

    loss, including four sacks. The 72 yards passing are the sixth-fewest by a team during th

    Kirk Ferentz era. Also, the nine rst downs e for the seventh-fewest by an Iowa opponen

    since 1999.

      SS John Lowdermilk picked o Purdue QB Danny Etling twice in the fourth period t

    Kirk Ferentz (pronounced FAIR-rintz,

    rhymes with parents) is in his 17th season

    as head football coach at Iowa and the dean

    of Big Ten Conference football coaches. His

    latest contract extension runs through the

    2020 season.

    • Named Big Ten Conference Coach of the

    Year in 2002, 2004 and 2009, joining

    Hayden Fry, Bo Schembechler and Joe

    Paterno as the only three-me recipients.

    • Guided Iowa to Big Ten tles in 2002 and

    2004.

    • Ferentz is eighth with 125 overall wins as a member of the Big Ten

    Conference. He has 74 Big Ten wins, which ranks eighth all-me.

    HEAD COACH KIRK FERENTZ   FIND THE NFL-ER  Since 1999, Kirk Ferentz’s rst year as UI head coach, th

    Hawkeyes have had a future NFL player start on the oensive lin

    in every season.

    In each of the last eight years, an eventual NFL rst-round dra

    pick started on the oensive line. Brandon Scher, selected by th

    Washington Redskins h overall in 2015, was Iowa’s le tacklfrom 2012-14. Riley Rei, selected 23rd overall by the Detroit Lion

    in 2012, started at le tackle from 2010-11. Bryan Bulaga, selecte

    23rd overall by the Green Bay Packers in 2010, started at le guar

    in 2007 before moving to le tackle in 2008-09.

    From 2005-06, Balmore Ravens All-Pro Marshal Yanda share

    me at tackle and guard for the Hawkeyes. Mike Elgin, a sevent

    round selecon of New England, was Iowa’s starng center in 2004

    Pete McMahon, draed by Oakland in 2005, was Iowa’s right guar

    in 2003. Oakland’s rst round pick in 2004, Robert Gallery, wa

    Iowa’s le tackle from 2001-03. Eric Steinbach (Cincinna) starte

    at guard for Iowa from 2000-02, and Bruce Nelson (Carolina) wa

    a four-year starter from 1999-02. Both players were second roun

    FERENTZ SECOND IN LONGEVITY 

      Kirk Ferentz is in his 17th season as Iowa’s head football coac

    and ranks second in longevity among FBS head coaches. Ferent

    is rst among Big Ten coaches and naonally ranks behind Virgini

    Tech’s Frank Beamer (28), who will rere at the end of the season

    Ferentz is ed for second with Bob Stoops of Oklahoma.

      OFFENSIVE-TACKLE-BY-COMMITTEE 

      The Hawkeyes have started four dierent oensive tackles th

    season. Three of them -- LT Boone Myers, RT Ike Boeger, LT Col

    Croston -- entered the season with one combined career star

    (Boeger started as a second ght end against Wisconsin in 2014OL Sean Welsh had 13 career starts at le guard before sliding out t

    right tackle at Northwestern.

    Iowa’s oensive-tackle-by-commiee is being asked to replace

    pair of NFL lineman -- 2014 Outland Trophy winner LT Brandon Scher

    (Washington Redskins) and RT Andrew Donnal (St. Louis Rams).

    Myers joined the program as a walk-on and was put on scholarsh

    prior to the 2014 season. He saw acon in four games last season

    Boeger joined the team as a ght end but was moved to oensive lin

    in 2013. He saw acon in seven games as a redshirt freshman in 2014

    Croston joined the team as a walk-on in 2012, and had played primari

    on special teams prior to this season. He joined the program for th

    2015 spring pracce season. Welsh was a high school All-America

    in Springboro, Ohio, and was named rst team freshman All-Big Te

    by BTN in 2014.

      IOWA AMONG TOP 25 IN WINS, 2002-15

      Iowa has posted 114 wins since the start of the 2002 seaso

    which is the 20th highest total in FBS. The list includes the following

      START FAST, FINISH STRONG, PLAY WITH THE LEAD

      The Hawkeyes have outscored their opponents 57-23 in the rst quarter, and 44-0 in

    the nal two minutes of the rst half. Iowa has trailed just ve mes this season, never by

    more than seven points. The Hawkeyes trailed by seven at Iowa State on two occasions

    10-3, 17-10. Iowa trailed 3-0 at Wisconsin, 7-6 against Illinois, and 17-14 at Indiana.

      In 17 seasons as Iowa’s head coach, Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes received the

    opening kicko in 170-of-210 games (103-67). Iowa has started the game on defense in

    40-of-210 games under Ferentz (22-18).

    THE FOURTH QUARTER

      QB C.J. Beathard and the Hawkeyes’ rush defense have dominated the fourth quarte

    in 2015. Iowa’s rush defense, the No. 3 defense in the conference, has yielded 191 tota

    rushing yards in the fourth quarter this season (19.1 yards per game).

    Beathard is 28-of-42 passing for 405 yards and two touchdowns. He has also rushed

    15 mes for 42 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter this season. He has

    engineered game-winning drives in the fourth quarter two mes this season (Iowa State

    and Pi). He was 4-of-4 for 46 yards and a touchdown against Iowa State, and he rushed

    for 27 yards on three carries to set up K Marshall Koehn’s 57-yard game winning eld goa

    against Pi.

      In Iowa’s last 11 games, including the 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl, Beathard’s fourth quarte

    numbers include 35-of-49 passing for 500 yards and four touchdowns, and 17 carries for

    80 yards and two touchdowns. Beathard did not play in the fourth quarter against NorthTexas.

    6 THE OTHER WAY 

      Iowa leads the Big Ten and ranks 17th naonally with 13 intercepons. The Hawkeyes

    have returned three intercepons for touchdowns (Josey Jewell, 34; Bo Bower, 88;

    Desmond King, 88). The 88-yard intercepon returns by Bower and King e for the seventh

    longest intercepon returns in school history. Iowa ranks 12th in the country with three

    defensive scores this season.

      Iowa has at least one intercepon return for a touchdown in each of the last eight

    seasons, and 13 of the last 15 seasons.

    POWER OF THREE 

      Three Hawkeyes (Jordan Canzeri, 256, Akrum Wadley, 204; LeShun Daniels, 195) havecombined for eight 100-yard rushing games this season: Canzeri (4x), Wadley (twice), and

    Daniels (twice). The last me the Hawkeyes had three dierent players rush for over 100

    yards in a game in the same season was 2005: Albert Young (8x), and Shonn Greene and

    Damian Sims once each.

      The Hawkeyes also have three receivers with 100-yard receiving games: Ma VandeBerg

    (1), Tevaun Smith (1), and Jerminic Smith (1). It is the rst me since 1995 three dierent

      The Hawkeyes lead the Big Ten and rank fourth in the country in rushing touchdown

    allowed. Iowa has allowed six rushing scores and yields an average of 104.6 rushing yard

    per game, third best in the Big Ten and ninth naonally. Iowa limits its opponents to 3.

    yards per carry -- third in the Big Ten and 17th best in the country.

      The Hawkeyes allowed just one rushing touchdown through the rst eight weeks, bu

    surrendered ve over the last two weeks (2 at Indiana, 3 vs. Minnesota).

    MAKING HISTORY 

      For the rst me in school history, Iowa had a dierent running back rush for 200 yard

    in consecuve games (Akrum Wadley at Northwestern and Jordan Canzeri vs. Illinois

    Wadley recorded career highs in carries (26), rushing yards (204), and touchdowns (4

    against the Wildcats on Oct. 17. Canzeri amassed 256 yards rushing on a school-recor

    43 aempts against the Fighng Illini on Oct. 10.

      The feat is the rst me an FBS school had two dierent running backs eclipse 20

    yards rushing in a game since 1996.

    SHINING AT AWARDS SEASON 

      Iowa has been honored with ve Big Ten weekly awards this season. QB C.J. Beathar

    earned the oensive award following Iowa’s win at Iowa State, PK Marshall Koehn was thspecial teams winner following Iowa’s last-second victory over Pisburgh, DB Desmon

    King earned co-defensive honors for his play in Iowa’s win at Wisconsin, RB Jordan Canze

    earned the oensive honor for his play in a win over Illinois, and RB Akrum Wadley earne

    the oensive honor following Iowa’s road win at Northwestern.

    Iowa’s three oensive award winners are the most for the program since 2002, whe

    QB Brad Banks was recognized three mes and TE Dallas Clark was honored once. Th

    last me three dierent oensive players earned weekly conference honors was 199

    (Tavian Banks, Tim Dwight, and Rob Thein).

      Four true freshmen have played in 2015. OL James Daniels, WR Jerminic Smith, an

    WR Adrian Falconer all saw acon in the season opener. LB Jack Hockaday saw his rs

    acon Week 7 at Northwestern.Smith started at Wisconsin, becoming the rst Iowa freshman to start at wide receive

    since Ma VandeBerg started two games in 2013. Daniels made his rst career start a

    Northwestern, becoming the rst true freshman to start on the oensive line since Brya

    Bulaga in 2007. Daniels joined the Iowa program last spring and parcipated in sprin

    pracce.

      QB C.J. BEATHARD (JR., 6-2, 209)

      Career Games Played/Starts: 24/11

      Junior QB C.J. Beathard is the only quarterback in school history to win his rst 1

    career starts.

    Beathard ranks sixth in the Big Ten in total oense with 2,312 yards. He has 2,044 yard

    passing and 268 yards rushing.

    Beathard in 3-2-1:

    • Undefeated in 11 career starts (Purdue, 2014; all 10 games this season). Numbe

    include 180-of-304 passing for 2,289 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four intercepon

    and 297 yards rushing with six rushing touchdowns.

    • Has won his rst 11 career starts, a record that includes a 5-0 mark on the road, a 6-

    mark at home, and a 7-0 mark in the Big Ten.

    • Earned Co-Big Ten Oensive Player of the Week honors aer helping lead Iowa to

    14-point triumph at Iowa State. Beathard totaled 292 yards (215 passing and 77 rush

    ing) against the Cyclones.

    yards and three touchdowns. It was his second career 100yard rushing game, and this second career mul-touchdow

    against Pi. O’s streak of 15 consecuve starts at defensive end ended Week 3 vs. Pi

    O recorded three tackles in the win at Wisconsin, including 2.5 tackles for loss and

    QB sack. He forced a fumble in the second quarter that led to an Iowa eld goal.  O recorded two sacks for a loss of 20 yards and forced one fumble in Iowa’s seaso

      Junior WR Ma VandeBerg has a career-high 55 recepons this season. He had 2career recepons entering the season. VandeBerg had more catches through the rst thre

    games of the season (22) than any player in the Kirk Ferentz era (since 1999). Kevin Kaspe

    had 21 recepons through the rst three games of 2000, and Kevonte Marn-Manley, th

    school’s all-me leader in recepons, had 19 catches through three games in 2013 an

    2014.

    had just two head coaches since 1979. Hayden Fry took over prior to the 1979 seaso

    Ferentz replaced Fry, leading the program for the 17th season. Ferentz also served a

      THE KICK 

      Marshall Koehn kicked a 57-yard eld goal as me expired to

    defeat Pi, 27-24, on Sept. 19. The game-winning eld goal was

    the second longest in school history and ed the Kinnick Stadium

    record (Arizona’s Lee Pistor in 1977).

    Aer Pi ed the game, 24-24, with 0:52 le in the fourth

    quarter, Iowa DB Desmond King picked up a squib kick at the 3-yard

    line and returned it 27 yards to the Iowa 30. QB C.J. Beathard pickedup two rushing rst downs to move the ball into Pi territory, and

    aer a pair of sideline routes to WR Tevaun Smith fell incomplete,

    Beathard scrambled for eight yards to the Pi 39-yard line. Iowa

    then used its nal meout to stop the clock with two seconds le.

    On fourth-and-2, Pi called a meout to freeze Koehn. Koehn

    let a kick sail anyway, but it landed far short of the goal post. On

    the next aempt, Dillon Kidd placed a snap from Tyler Kluver on

    the Pi 47-yard line, and Koehn split the uprights, giving Iowa its

    rst walk-o eld goal since 1986 (Holiday Bowl).

    IOWA BOWL NOTES

      Iowa has appeared in 28 bowl games with a record of 14-13-

    1 (.518). The Hawkeyes have competed in the Rose (ve mes),

    Outback (four), Alamo (four), Holiday (three), Orange (two), Peach

    (two), Sun (two), Insight (two), Gator/TaxSlayer (two), and the

    Capital One, and Freedom bowls once.

    • Iowa has played 12 bowl games under Kirk Ferentz (6-6).

    • Iowa has been bowl eligible 14 of the last 15 seasons under

    head coach Kirk Ferentz and his sta.

    • Iowa ranks third in Big Ten bowl appearances. Ohio State has

    received a conference-best 45 bowl bids, followed by Michigan

    (43), Iowa (28) and Wisconsin (26).

    • During the BCS bowl era (1998-2013), the Big Ten qualied 27

    teams for BCS bowls, more than any other conference. Eight

      KIRK FERENTZ RADIO SHOW 

      Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz is featured on “Hawk Talk with Kirk

    Ferentz” each week. The 90-minute radio call-in show is hosted

    by Gary Dolphin, the play-by-play voice of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

    The show airs each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. from Carlos

    O’Kelly’s in Iowa City.

      IOWA LEADERSHIP GROUP 

      The University of Iowa football program has 16 players on its

    2015 Leadership Group, including 13 seniors, two juniors, and one

    sophomore. The purpose of the group is to assist in formulang

    policies, and being involved in team decision-making maers

    regarding the upcoming season. Players are selected by a team

    vote.

      The seniors are OL Ausn Blythe, RB Jordan Canzeri, DL Darian

    Cooper, FB Adam Cox, TE Jake Duzey, WR Jacob Hillyer, PK Marshall

    Koehn, DB Jordan Lomax, DE Nate Meier, DE Drew O, LB Travis

    Perry, FB Macon Plewa and WR Tevaun Smith. The junior class

    represented by QB C.J. Beathard and RB LeShun Daniels, Jr., an

    LB Josey Jewell represents the sophomore class.

     ALL IN THE FAMILY 

      Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz has two of his three sons involved in th

    Iowa program again in 2015. Brian, a former Hawkeye leerma

    and captain (2003-05), is in his fourth season as Iowa’s oensive lincoach. Steven is an oensive lineman who is in his fourth seaso

    as a redshirt junior. James Ferentz was a three-year starter on th

    Hawkeye oensive line and a team captain before graduang i

    May 2013. He is currently playing for the NFL’s Denver Bronco

    Ferentz is the only FBS coach ever to coach three sons at the sam

    school.

      PAULSENS ARE A FAMILIAR FACE 

      Freshmen Landan and Levi Paulsen are the sixth set of twin

    to play football at the University of Iowa. The oensive lineme

    from Woodbury High School in Northwest Iowa join the compan

    of Leo and Lloyd Jensvold (1929-30), Harold and Herbert Shoene

    (1946-47), Kent and Kevin Ellis (1977-80), Aaron and Evan Kooike

    (1992), and Shane and Shaun Prater (2008).

      The Paulsens are one of three sets of brothers on Iowa’s 201

    roster, joining DB Kevin Ward and OL Ryan Ward, and OL Jame

    Daniels and RB LeShun Daniels.

      MORE THAN ONE 

      Eleven high schools have contributed more than one player t

    the current Iowa football roster. Dowling Catholic HS in West De

    Moines, Iowa; and Providence Catholic HS in Homer Glen, Illino

    each graduated three current Hawkeyes. The schools with tw
