Don’t you agree? Because, realistically, much of the time, even though we see only limitations and obstacles, there is still a way to succeed.

My recommendation, based on a generation of experiences with thousands of groups, is that the healthiest, and most productive mindset is Optimism. When in doubt, assume There Is A Way, It Can Be Done. Look for the possibilities among the obstacles. Seek the solutions. It is easy to point out obstacles. No training is required to give up. Swimming downstream takes no effort. But it takes courage to swim against the current and to stay in the game when you feel discouraged. By cultivating the habit of Optimism you will not only succeed more often, you will also be less likely to give up prematurely. Optimists, like Pessimists, must be Realistic. And once they are; the Optimists almost always prevail.

Jim Cathcart, CSP, CPAE is a bestselling author of 16 books and has been inducted into the Professional Speaker Hall of Fame. As a psychological researcher and motivation expert his work is focused on showing people how to live more fully and grow their enterprises. To see him in action; go to www.Cathcart.com.

Optimism or Pessimism or Realism By Jim Cathcart

isn’t required if we already see the path and feel capable. Faith is only needed when things are uncertain or dangerous and we feel unsure.

That is where Optimism comes in. Optimism is assuming the good, the possible, the unseen potential. It is faith in the as yet unseen. It is taking the approach that says, “There is a way and I will find it.”

Pessimism assumes, “There may not be a way so it’s not worth trying to find it.” Personally, I’d rather bet the odds that a success is possible, no matter what obstacles stand in the way. But there is a point of diminishing returns where added efforts are just a waste. People acknowledge that point by saying, “Be Realistic.”

Something I’d like you to notice is self described “Realists” NEVER take the optimistic view. Their most common statement is, “I’m not being Pessimistic, I’m being Realistic.” Then they go on to tell you all the reasons it can’t be done. Well, if they truly are “Realists” then some of the time they should be looking for the possibilities instead of the limits.

As a motivational speaker for the past 36 years I’ve presented more than 2,800 presentations worldwide and, invariably, I have met audience members who said some version of the following: “I don’t believe in motivation because it doesn’t last.” My reply to them is simply, “Neither does a bath but it’s still a good idea now and then.” Of course feelings don’t last, but the motives behind them can endure for a lifetime. Eating doesn’t last, exercise doesn’t last and feeling connected with our loved ones and friends ebbs and flows as well. Life is a dynamic experience, not a static one.

So, what is Motivation? I see it as Motive connected with Action. Motive+Action=Motivation. It is your reason or purpose which is big enough to get you to act on it. If your motive is to make the world a better place and you can see some actions that may do that, then you’ll be more likely to take those actions.

But if you don’t believe you can do them, or if you doubt that they will matter, then you might not act. But seeing isn’t believing is it? In fact, belief

Quality without compromise

I have endured both hard times and prosperity in my life. I have grown businesses and hired people who came to depend on the pay and benefits we delivered. I have let people go and made difficult cutbacks that not only affected our employees but also their families. One thing that always reins certain for me is keeping a smile and finding that silver lining in every roadblock and tough decision.

Stock market collapses, real estate collapses, industry collapses, and even fraud have all rang our doorbell over the years. What is the byproduct of these experiences? Opportunity.

Opportunity appears in every cycle. If you lost a job but always dreamed of something else, maybe it’s time to make the jump. If your investments

took a hit, maybe there are buying opportunities. No matter what the specifics are, train yourself to be a contrarian (definition: a person who takes a contrary position or attitude). Many people have obligations that range from feeding a family to paying a mortgage. We understand and believe that diligence, along with a positive attitude, will prevail. If you blame outside factors as the cause of your troubles I can assure you that they will take longer to rectify.

For example, two brothers I know are retired pilots. Their pensions took a setback over the past few years. Instead of sitting back and doing nothing, they took a significant portion of their remaining pension dollars and started buying rental properties at rock bottom prices post real estate bubble. They filled these properties with tenants and not only preserved their principal but also created an income stream.

When the tech bubble burst and many of our clients went belly-up, we were facing a difficult situation.

We took the opportunity to offer credit memos for free equipment and services to large blue-chip organizations and educational institutions. In essence, while we were down we were giving money away. The result was instant growth with a new stronger client base. When we were victims of a multimillion dollar international fraud, that stung many companies in our industry, we took the opportunity to develop our security and disaster recovery business. This ultimately grew a new segment of our company that didn’t

exist before. i Over the past few years, I have had the privilege to visit senior living communities around the country to capture some of the amazing stories that exist under their roofs. What I have found very interesting are the stories and experiences of our older generations. Walk into any of these communities and you will be amazed at the wealth of knowledge that can be acquired by simply talking to the residents.

Their patience and perseverance is an inspiration to us all. While we may be a society that focuses on our youth, and we should be as they are our future, we also need to appreciate and absorb the wisdom of our seniors. For example, meet Diane May. Diane tells us about how her father would whistle like a mockingbird to call her home for dinner. Today she is in her mid-90s and every bird she hears reminds her of her childhood. She even wrote a children’s book titled “The Perfect Whistle” about a bird named Mockswell that whistled pleasant songs to soldiers during the war to help remind them of home.

In closing, please remember that being

an optimist does not mean you’re not

a realist. I actually believe that success is achieved when you combine effort and reality with positive thinking. Withoutpositive thinking, you won’t get past first base; negative thinking and cynicism will hold you back.

Without reality and effort, you are only dreaming.

When you want to influence where it counts, in the day-to-day experience of the audience, there may be no better way than the tried and true panel discussion. Unlike most pessimistic people, be the optimist, and see this invitation as an opportunity. The panel format brings the “real life” of experts like you to the “real life” of the audience. Panels also require far less preparation than a lecture.

You will find your participation on a panel to be a terrific format for you to state your opinion extremely clearly, highly effective way to see your ideas resonate with an eager audience, and a great networking and marketing opportunity.

Usually, you are asked to present an overview along with the others. Sometimes, all you will get is a few minutes, as is the case of a client of ours who spoke to 2,000 conference attendees on a panel with five others who each had seven minutes.

She did three things that worked for her, and they will work for you as well: engage, strategize, and focus.

ENGAGE THE AUDIENCE:

1. When you begin your part, begin. Have a story or a strong piece of “meat” for the audience to chew on right away. Speak to the concern of those people looking at you instead of talking about or re-introducing yourself.

2. Because the audience wants practical “stuff,” consider giving them your most vital message immediately. Introductory comments are the mortal

sin of panelists. Almost everyone does it, the audience puts up with it, it wastes time, and it contributes nothing to the program. Instead, be different by having something worthwhile to say and saying it right away.

3. When you speak, look at the audience and watch for the head nods and signs of interest. An optimistic mindset prepares you to speak from your own expertise, for this is why you are on the panel. You are seen as the expert. So, speak like one by avoiding false modesty (such as “I’m not sure why they picked me…” or “I must have been in the bathroom when they volunteered me to be on this panel…”). Your authority is in the interpretive perception of the audience. If you knock yourself down, they’ll do the same to you…and your message.

4. Be practical, and avoid being too academic. Audiences at panels usually want concrete ideas that they can implement immediately. If you are too complex, you’ll bee seen as irrelevant. Even though you might be seen as smart, they’ll cast you into the “I have no clue as to what she said….” category.

Likewise, given your precious few minutes, say something worthwhile and useful. Resist returning a traditional trainer’s favorite quote, “We don’t have time to….” Wisdom, in the audience’s eyes, lies in the essential and the simple.

STRATEGIZE YOUR CONTENT AND YOUR TIMING

5. Be the final speaker. This will give you a chance to hear the others and watch the audience. It will also allow

you to be the one to “wrap up” and be remembered by the audience. Pessimists ask to go first, thinking that the audience will forgive their skay start; optimists go last, for they know that the audience will most remember their comments.

You can do this by sitting farthest away from the moderator, because they frequently begin at one end and go down the line. Or, simply tell the moderator that you prefer to go last. Then, listen to the others, especially to what they are not saying that needs to be said. When you listen, you will be seen as the leader.

6. Be unique in some way. Use a slightly different vocabulary than the others. One of our colleagues presented on an alcoholism panel and saw that the other speakers used words like dysfunction, disease, and co-dependent. This speaker, seeing that these words were sapping the energy out of the room, said that families needed a “sanctuary” with a “moat” so that they had a place of refuge and could then lower the “bridge over the moat” when they decided to “let someone in.” You can imagine who was remembered as the leader…and the optimist!

Make up your own analogies and terms. Mostly, resist being common. Common is forgotten, and different is remembered.

7. Affirm the other panelists for their specific contributions as you weave yours into their comments. If you disagree, simply say something like, “I had a slightly different perspective than Dr. Smith,” and continue with your

Standing Out On A Panel:A prepared you is a memorableexperience for themBy Kevin E. O’Connor, CSP and Cyndi Maxey, CSP

ArtiCleFeAture thoughts. Panels are just the right place for respectful disagreements!

FOCUS ON THE “REAL” AUDIENCE

8. The “real” audience is sometimes just one person—such as the person who invited you to be on the panel. He or she is sitting there hoping that the panel and you will be good! There could also be key decision-makers in the audience, so know who they are and what their issues are. Be very careful not to drone on and on about you or your work. Focus on them.

Be the optimistic presenter by focusing on the idea, the strategy, and the trend, for that is what makes you the expert. The second mortal sin (the first is the vacuous “thank you”) is to talk about how great you are, the vast experiences you’ve had, and blah, blah, blah about you. Resist this. The more you talk about you, the more hot air fills the room. Instead, cool the

room with good ideas based on your experience.

9. If during the Q&A session, no questions are asked of you, raise your hand to the moderator and comment. This is no time to be shy! You don’t want to dominate the microphone, but you do want to be heard because of the value of your contribution. You want your ideas to shine in your few minutes. Don’t fear that your ego will dominate, for you are the selected expert with expert solutions.

Preparation is the key to a memorable panel contribution. Preparation helps the audience, helps you, and advances the cause. And really, that is what an expert like you is for!

Most of all, use your time on the panel to listen. When you listen, you will lead.

Kevin and Cyndi coauthored the book, Present Like a Pro: Mastering the Art of Business, Professional, and Public Speaking and Speak Up: A Woman’s Guide to Presenting Like A Pro. Combined, they speak professionally more than 200 times a year on leading technical teams, motivating yourself, and—not surprisingly—presentation skills! To Be or Not to Be...By Dee Wallace

We’ve heard it a million times. Read it. Studied it. Discussed it. Thought we understood it. And we still aren’t just doing it. And what is “it”? Being Happy.

How we attack the job--and it has become just that--of being happy, is to be happy. But we “do” instead. Do the reading and do the activity and do the website and do the tweets etc., etc.

Ad nausea. We are all “doing” to be happy. Let’s face it, that’s why we want the things we are doing the doing for: to be happy. The money will make us happy, or the relationship, or the success. And so we do a lot to be optimistic about life. The conundrum is, when the doing doesn’t pay off, we become even MORE despondent and frustrated and depressed--the opposite of optimistic!

What if I told you there was a simple shift in perspective that would create all the optimism in your world that you could ever hope to experience? That every day you awoke with excitement around what awesome things were awaiting you? There is. It is YOU.

Again, we’ve heard it. We don’t do it.

What if you just committed to being happy? For no reason at all. In fact, what if you committed to be happy NO MATTER WHAT??

If it rains, I am happy.If I have a cold, I am happy.If I still don’t have a date, I am happy.If I still don’t have quite enough, I am happy.

As an actor, we like to call it “playing the part” -I am not a murderer, or a hooker, or an astronaut. But I have played them all. And when I commit to the performance, I become the part.

You CAN play pretend with optimism and joy. You CAN choose to see the world through the perspective of joy and love. It is simply your choice to commit to the part you are playing, because that commitment makes a difference in whether the Universe believes your portrayal. If it does, reality shifts because you have said, “Yes! I will choose optimism. I will choose to see the world as a friendly place!” If you don’t commit, and continue to say empty affirmations, blame God, blame the government,

“Kandee G’s favorite

book of 2011”

wait for SOMEthing or SOMEone to create the choice of optimism for you, then like any audience, the Universe will go to sleep during the performance of your non-committed, joyless, non-creative performance of life and you will still get to wonder, “Why am I not happy and why do I feel hopeless?”

The good news is it’s up to us to BE optimistic and feeeeeeeeeeeeel it within. That is the quickest way to create anything that you think will be the catalyst for optimism and happiness. BE IT FIRST!! Drop down into your heart and feel optimism. Feel joy. Feel your life working and the world as beautiful and life as an adventure.

And don’t let yourself go into the BS of “I don’t know how to do that.” You do. Once you choose and commit to it, and do it daily, and really want to feel fabulous and excited about life, the answers and experiences will rush to you. From within. I guarantee you. Be open to seeing the world that you want---create the world you want!--from within into reality.

Play within the Universe of YOU. Play pretend! Have a ball. Commit to what you want, and then turn it over to the Universe. You might just get that standing ovation you’ve been longing for!

I lost my best friend in October 2012. She was killed in a car accident. For the rest of 2012 I was lost. I kept myself busy and I grieved. While I miss her every minute of every day, I knew I couldn’t go on living the way I was.

I buried myself in my animal rescue. (See the Big Dream Showcase) I did all kinds of busy work. But what I was really doing was avoiding one major issue. Fear.

Fear is a big part of all our lives, mine included. Fear of success. Fear of failure. Fear of this that and the other thing. And I realized I have been living in fear for so long, I didn’t even realize I was living in fear.

I’ve spent the last six months deep in thought and transformation. Two steps forward, five back. But I keep plowing through.

Two weeks ago I lost another very dear friend. Heart issues. This time, I didn’t allow myself to get lost. I have purpose now. I have vision.

I have spent time in my personal and professional lives and have mapped out what I really want, and I’m taking action steps toward those goals.

I realized I let my business become stagnant. I let myself become stagnant. As spring approaches I feel a fresh sense of renewal. Of rebirth. Of life.

I followed these six steps to get myself from lost and fearful, to feeling vibrant and abundant. When you feel lost, or like your life is becoming a bit stagnant. Try these six steps to rejuvenate you.1. Get a new haircut. Every time I feel like my life is becoming boring and routine, I change my hair as the first step to revitalizing myself. Go for something fun!

2. Create a plan. I sat down and mapped out where I really wanted my life and my business to go. I did them together because ultimately they are entwined within each other. (Thankfully I’ve been through Kandee G’s Vision Program and have the tools to make this easy!)

3. Make a vision board. Gather magazines, or go on Pinterest and print out pictures, quotes, words that have meaning. Get your whole family or office involved in making their own boards, and one collective board focusing on a family or office goal.

4. Change your routine. Routines are awesome. But they can easily put us into a rut and make our lives stale. Change it up a bit. Rearrange your office, or incorporate different exercises into your workout. Lots of little ways to change your routine without being drastic.

5. Get organized! I found this was key to my revitalizing my life. I am taking baby steps, but slowly getting my house, my business and my computer completely organized. I find that the more I do, the more energy I get back and the more time I get back because I’m not wasting it looking for lost things.

6. Take yourself out for a date. We get so busy in our lives with work, kids, etc., that most of us tend to put ourselves last. Schedule a regular date with yourself. Last week, I took myself out for sushi. Brought a good book and had a nice time. It’s ok to take time for you.

Today I’m feeling better than ever. I’ve gone from lost and wandering, to having purpose, optimism and control. Now it’s your turn.

Optimism and Creating Maximum ResultsBy Douglas Vermeeren

Several years ago I was sitting at a campfire with my dad on a family camping trip. I had just completed a series of interviews with a group of high level CEOs the week before. What I had learned was still very fresh on my mind. My objective in the research was to identify key aspects of how success is created. I thought it would be interesting to get a contrasting viewpoint. My dad wasn’t a CEO of a major company. In fact, most of his life he had worked in the trades. But I found the wisdom he gave for my own life to be practical and straight to the point. That day I told him about my research and asked him what he thought the about the specific principles of success the CEOs had told me.

He poked the fire with a stick slowly and I could tell he was thinking. He said those were all pretty good ideas that the CEOs had shared. He then told me a story of a fellow I’ll call Terry.

Terry wanted to be a foreman on a construction site. He had invested a lot of time to learn his craft. He had taken extra courses and sought out

additional management training. He arrived early and always left late. The work that was entrusted to him was always done on time and often at a much higher quality than his co-workers. Nearly everything in Terry efforts led you to expect that he would be promoted to foreman, but it never happened. My dad paused to let the lesson sink in deeper, then he asked, “Do you want to know why it never happened for Terry?”

I shrugged and my dad answered. “Because nobody liked him.” Terry was a negative, pessimistic person that didn’t get along well with others. It was simple, but profound.

When it comes to creating massive success we require the support of others around us. Success requires us to be possibility oriented. Success requires us to look for the best and be hopeful. Success requires us to be optimistic.

Optimism creates an expansive energy within us. As we are optimistic we attract support. No one likes to

contribute to a complainer. And for poor Terry his negative attitude cost him the opportunity for promotion and a better future.

So how can we nurture optimism to create better results?

First we must understand what optimism is. Optimism does not begin as an out look, but an ‘in’ look. It starts with a confidence in yourself. You may have heard the old saying, ‘how you see the world is a reflect of how you see yourself.’

When he trust that we are good enough and expect that what we produce is good enough we will begin to be optimistic.

Second, optimism recognizes that events or results are neutral. Our reality is the story we attach to the event or results. No matter what happens to us we are in control to decide whether or not it is a positive event or a negative event. We can choose to see the positive and be optimistic about every situation if we choose to be. It may not be easy - but it is possible. All results appear better with optimism.

Being optimistic in a negative or even tragic situation is important. While we may feel justified in feeling bad or bitter about terrible things in our lives the truth is that feeling bad or bitter won’t ever give you the power to make the situation better. The situation can’t change for the better until you decide to look at it in a better way.

The third way to grow optimism is through contribution or service. As we seek to be of service to others our own life becomes more and we find more to celebrate. By contributing to others we also change our results from mediocre

to magnificent.

Optimism is the fastest way to attract support for your ideas and efforts. But giving support to others is also the fastest way to attract optimism in your own life.

The fourth way to attract optimism into your life is simply to expect it. What we look for in life is what we find. It’s like looking through a window. If there is a crack in the window and all that we focus on is the crack we will never see the beautiful scenery just outside. What we focus on becomes our reality.

In conclusion I challenge you to look for ways to be more optimistic. As you do you will discover that your results will improve dramatically. And naturally as your results maximize you will discover more to be grateful for and your optimism will continue to grow.

Claws N Paws Animal RescueAn interview with Kandee G

Her office is filled with cats. Her home with dogs. Rarely will you see less than 20 dogs at a time roaming around Tracey Tarrant’s home, and the home of Claws N Paws Animal Rescue.

Born out of a love for animals, and a need to nurture, Claws N Paws Animal Rescue is the product of dreams from two great friends. Together, Cindy Pickering and Tracey Tarrant would rescue, rehabilitate and rehome the stray animals in their neighborhood. Living in an area that’s prime for dumping animals, it was not uncommon to come across cold, scared, emaciated dogs…commonly pit bulls.

Tracey has the knack for getting the dogs healthy, happy and ready for a new home. Cindy’s role was finding those perfect homes. Together they made a dynamic duo and rescued approximately 20 dogs over the course of 5-6 years.

In September 2012, the two friends decided it was time to make this a legitimate business so they could get help with the vet bills and food costs. They formed the nonprofit organization, Claws N Paws Animal Rescue. Many of these dogs were sick, malnourished and covered in mange. Several had never been socialized with humans and not a single one of them housebroken. Joining with a few other rescues, Tracey and Cindy rolled up their sleeves and dug in bringing 9 into their newly formed rescue, and helping to get the others healthy.

Three weeks later, tragedy struck. Cindy was killed in a car accident leaving Tracey alone with no best friend, no business partner and a houseful of animals. Determination, dedication and a drive to make their dream succeed, Tracey has trudged on alone and has to date placed over 40 animals into permanent homes since Sept. 2012.

She’s not stopping there. Tracey has a personal goal of getting 10 animals a month placed into permanent homes. “For me it’s not just about getting animals adopted. We need to educate society on important topics like spaying and neutering, heartworm prevention

and proper care of their pets,” says Tracey. “This is so much bigger than me.”

Tracey says she has big plans for Claws N Paws in the area of education. “We’re launching a newsletter in April, and eventually I will have free classes on basic care, proper handling, kids and dogs, etc.”

Her long-term goal is to eventually have a large piece of land where she can have a rescue for any kind of animal. “I want to be able to take in cats, dogs, ferrets, rabbits, farm animals, reptiles and birds. Currently I have to turn animals away because I just don’t have the room. I don’t like that feeling and one day hope to have so much space that I never turn away

another animal in need again.”

But Claws N Paws Animal Rescue is still in the start-up phase. Currently Tracey has need for several items to help the animals.

“Of course money is always needed and appreciated. But we are in need of dog and cat food, kitty litter, toys and bedding. Flea and tick season is upon us and we could use donations of preventative medicines like K9 Advantix, Advantage and Capstar,” says Tracey.

Her biggest need though…foster homes. “I am just one person. I can only take care of so many animals myself before getting completely overwhelmed. I need foster homes.

People who love animals and want to help. Homes where they can get one-on-one training in basic areas like house breaking, basic obedience commands and manners. Our foster program covers all the food and vet care for the animals. We just need folks who can love them and help them heal.”

Other than fosters, Tracey could use volunteers who can help with web design, graphic design and pro bono legal needs such as contract review and helping to file for the 501©3 status. Tracey’s new motto was sent to her from a foster/adopter.

“If everyone does something, even a little thing, only then will the mountains move. “

Wherever I go I hear people talking about a new, emerging paradigm of limitless personal freedom. This is due, in part, to my living in Asheville, North Carolina, a positive, forward-thinking “little big town,” as I like to call it. I say in part because I’m hearing this from other places, from people I speak to on the phone, and on social media posts too numerous to count.

So what is this new reality that people are beaming about? Is it a shift in the way we think, a consciousness change, a new “vibration?” Actually, it’s all these things. And more.

Beyond the noise levels of mainstream media, past all the talk of scarcity and limitation, a tidal wave of freedom is crashing against our shores. We are birthing a new era of interconnectedness, of mutual cooperation and sustainability. We feel it in the air, so strong that we can taste it. We know it in our bones and in our hearts, and it rings out loud and clear to us. Old ways are fading and in their wake we are building a newer and brighter world.

One of the ageless Laws of Attraction is “Focus on what you want.” Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of this statement. It is powerful beyond belief, and even more so as our bright, new world emerges from our collective

consciousness.

Recently I spoke to a “street busker” in the parking lot of a big natural foods store. He earns his living playing music on the streets and doing odd jobs. I don’t know much else about his life, except he always seems genuinely happy. “Hank,” he said, “I can’t believe what is happening. The things I think about are manifesting so much faster. It’s amazing.” I suggested he keep thinking about whatever makes him happiest. He smiled like the sun and gave me quite a hug.

Do you recall the old benchmark for whether you are an optimist or pessimist? It goes like this: Do you see your “glass” as half full or half empty? The glass is a metaphor for your life. You are that glass, that receptacle for life’s bounty of abundance. Seeing it as half full implies your recognition that there is room for so much more. Okay, that’s good, but there’s another step to take.

What have you been gathering to fill up your “glass?” Do the thoughts in your mind and the things you attract really serve you in your new paradigm of freedom? Or are you collecting thoughts and things out of comfort and familiarity? Further still, do you hold on to thoughts and things out of insecurity? If so, it might be time to empty your “glass.”

As a receptacle for life’s many gifts, you need to take an honest look at what you’ve filled yourself with to this point in your life. Yes, we are entering a whole new world of freedom. Now is the time to shed the thoughts and things that no longer serve you. This is a spiritual principal the mystics sometimes call “emptying your vessel.” In order to fill our cups with what we

hold dear in our dreams, we need to be willing to upend the cup and pour out the old to make room for the new.

What happens when you empty your cup of old, limiting ideas and beliefs? You find freedom – pure and simple, and rooted in a place of profound inner joy. Now, with the cup drained of things that hold you back, don’t just see your glass as half full. Aim higher. Set a clear vision and hold it dear to your heart. See it, live it, breathe it. Start your day with it, revisit it in the afternoon, and let it flow with gratitude just before going to sleep each night.

Manifestation is indeed happening much more quickly in our bright, new world. Shut out the noise from the old world, and keep your eyes on the prize. The reward is a life of bounty and joy lived in fearless optimism.

Reconnective Healing Gains GlobalMomentum After New StudyStudy Shows Reconnective Healing Has Significantly Greater Healing Impact on People with Range of Motion Limitations than Physical TherapyBy Dr. Eric Pearl

Study Shows Reconnective Healing Has Significantly Greater Healing Impact on People with Range of Motion Limitations than Physical Therapy

A breakthrough new study by researchers at the University of Arizona has shown definitively that people who have range of motion limitations in their arms and shoulders show a significantly greater level of healing and pain reduction with a 10-minute one-time session of Reconnective Healing® than when treated with physical therapy.

And the study’s findings were demonstrated in a remarkable TV segment on the Dr. Oz Show. Dr. Mehmet Oz said he was “flabbergasted” at what he saw. A woman who couldn’t move her hands more than a foot from her hips for more than 20 years – and had tried every medical and alternative modality without success – instantly regained her full range of motion, raised her arms out and up over her head, fingers and hands touching, pain-free. Reconnective Healing discoverer and internationally bestselling author Dr. Eric Pearl demonstrated clearly the power of Reconnective Healing before millions of viewers!

The study, coupled with this highly acclaimed segment with Dr. Pearl on Dr. Oz, has propelled this revolutionary form of alternative healing into the public consciousness and to the forefront of exciting new healthcare options.

Reconnective Healing is a comprehensive, yet simple and easy-to-learn healing approach that completely transcends “energy healing” and its complex rituals and techniques. It accesses vibrational frequencies that are self-correcting by nature and are accessible to everyone.

You don’t need a scientific degree, a medical

license or even medical insurance to take advantage of this remarkable new opportunity to heal from chronic pain or serious illness – you can learn how to heal others and heal yourself in just one weekend. As part of a Friday night introduction at his seminars globally, Dr. Pearl invites onstage one or more audience members with visible ailments to demonstrate what is often a spontaneous healing response.

Reconnective Healing doesn’t require physical touch. People report healings from cerebral palsy, epilepsy, cancers, AIDS-related diseases, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, range of motion limitations, chronic pain and more. The reported results are often fairly instantaneous, as demonstrated on Dr. Oz, and tend to be life-lasting.

According to researchers who call it the forefront of “Information Medicine,” Reconnective Healing is a healing power that transcends imagination and the limitations of previously conceived human ability -- and that scientists say even has the power to restructure and transform DNA. Reconnective Healing practitioners interact with a bandwidth of vibrational frequencies that convey corrective information to the body and mind. Stanford Professor Emeritus Dr. William Tiller says, “When information carried through these frequencies is introduced, it creates coherence and order within the field and the body itself.”

The result: dramatic reports of regeneration instead of degeneration and account after account of seemingly unexplainable healings. A book, Science Confirms Reconnective Healing, from one of the world’s leading university scientists specializing in

bioenergetic research, Dr. Konstantin Korotkov, chronicles many studies that show that Reconnective Healing is scientifically measurable and a powerful tool in the hands of practitioners.

Dr. Pearl has taught more than 75,000 people how to become catalysts for healings — both for themselves and others. Dr. Pearl is the author of The Reconnection: Heal Others, Heal Yourself ¬— an international bestseller now translated into 36 languages — a book that relates his transformation from a highly successful Los Angeles chiropractor into the first Reconnective Healer when his patients began reporting sudden healings even though he physically had not touched them.

Now the reality of Reconnective Healing has been clearly demonstrated in practice as well as in scientific research laboratories. Dr. Pearl and The Reconnection team have been working with eminent scientists around the world to quantify, validate and understand the dynamics of this profound healing methodology.

The most recent study on Range of Motion was conducted by Dr. Ann Linda Baldwin and Dr. Gary Schwartz of the University of Arizona, Laboratory for the Advances in Consciousness and Health in the Department of Psychology & Department of Physiology at the university’s College of Medicine. Combined, their degrees and professorships encompass Harvard, Yale and the University of London.

The study set out to determine if one 10-minute session of Reconnective Healing could increase the range of motion and ability to elevate the arms of those people with medically-diagnosed “frozen shoulder” or other range-limiting conditions which may

include injury, arthritis, surgery, etc. This was measured against a control group and physical therapy, as well as others. The results showed that a 10-minute session of Reconnective Healing significantly improved range of motion by an average of 26 degrees in people with restricted shoulder mobility. The degree of improvement was significantly greater than that produced by physical therapy. Reconnective Healing also significantly reduced the pain reported by participants as they regained the ability to raise their arms.

The Range of Motion study adds to the growing conclusive scientific proof of the power and efficiency of Reconnective Healing, including studies that demonstrate that it restructures our DNA

and improves Olympic athletes’ peak performance. But it is the anecdotal evidence of people who engage with the healing frequencies as catalysts for other’s healing that point to the human equation, not only the scientific confirmation. These practitioners see the results in their clients and experience the satisfaction of helping someone regain their freedom of movement and greatly reduce and/or totally eliminate their pain.

“We are on the threshold of a whole new era of healthcare,” says Dr. Pearl. “And Reconnective Healing shows that we can take healing into our own hands.”

The Next Reconnective Healing Seminar is slated for May 17-19 in Miami, FL.

An initial Friday evening “Essence of Healing” presentation by Dr. Eric Pearl is open to the public for a $18 fee. To learn more, go to www.TheReconnection.com for more information or call (323) 960-0012. To see a video clip, visit www.youtube.com/TheReconnectionTV

Do you remember dreaming that one day you would be a great writer, painter, or composer? Do you remember wanting to invent a remark¬able new product, pitch a perfect game, find the cure to a debilitating illness, rally the troops to save the day, become a great actress, enter the courtroom to right an injustice, or throw your hat into the political ring to make a difference? Do you remember dreaming of bringing a brood of children into the world and raising them with incredible amounts of love and consciousness? Do you remember wanting to play music or sing melodies that issued from your heart? Do you remember dreaming of being a coach or a teacher, a dancer, choreographer, cook, carpenter or fisherman, an astronaut or mountain climber, a religious or spiritual leader, a humanitarian or a healer?

Perhaps in your case, you did not knowexactly what you wanted to do with your life, but you felt a longing you could not put a name to, a restless tug to do something more and different than others around you were doing.

Perhaps both of these things were and still are sometimes true for you - specific longings to do or express yourself in a given way or a restlessness that issues from not knowing quite what you want to do or how. If this is true for you, then we invite you to spend a few moments with us exploring the possibility that the next stage of your journey not only can be more satisfying and rewarding, but also more in alignment with the dream you came here to manifest. The first step we recommend in thisexploration is to take a little time to be alone, a little time to listen to some of the hints and promptings that come from that “still small voice” within you.

If you are willing to take this first step, we believe you will soon discover that this longing, this dream that you once had is still very much alive inside you. We also believe you will discover that by directing your attention to that place where your dream still lives, you will either rediscover or discover the beginning of a pathway that can - no matter how old or young you are - lead you to live more of the life you were

born to live.

The Power of Your Dream

Our personal experience confirms the fact that when we are in touch with our personal dream and stay true to its call - stay true to what is called our destiny - we are not only more creative, impassioned, and energetic, but we are also more involved in our own lives, connected to others and in tune with the natural rhythms of life. When we are in touch with our dream we are also more concerned about the well-being of others, this planet and all of the species that reside here. In short, in our experience being in touch with our dream is an essential key not only to living more con¬sciously and aging wisely, but to fulfilling what we call our spiritual promise or heritage. For more than 30 years we have been experimenting with and testing this premise not only in our personal lives, but through our work with hundreds of major organizations and with thousands of individuals who have attended both our organizational and public programs. During this time we have come to verify that those who are in touch with and living even portions of their dream are more content, impassioned, engaged, loving, health and successful. In addition, following the call of our dream is not just important to us as individuals, it appear to be equally essential to the grand scheme of things.

Yes, our dreams hold a blueprint for a unique and successful life, in fact for the precise life many of us long for and

believe somewhere in our hearts is possible. And yet it may not be and often is not the life we are living. We could, of course, spend months exploring why this is true. But in the end, we believe what matters most is not why, but what we can do to correct this misalignment. Our exploration indicates that this blueprint is often as close as the longing we feel our hearts. Indeed, we have discovered that it doesn’t matter whether it has been days or decades since we have last paid any attention to our dream, it is always there, literally as close as our next breath.

If you have been faithful to your dream you know this to be true and we applaud and celebrate your efforts. But then again, our applause is unnecessary for you already know the value of the journey that was written indelibly in your heart long ago. If you have not yet been as faithful to your dream as you have wanted to be then you also know or, at the very least, sense that what we are saying is true. For we know that you, like us, periodically receive, sometimes quietly, sometimes insistently, those whispers, prods, prompts, and even demands that you to pay more attention from that “still small voice within.” So here in this moment we invite you to pause and take a little time to touch that place in your heart where your dream still resides. We ask to get quiet enough to hear what that “still small voice” is saying so that you, too, can once again regain that glint in your eye, that spring in your step and that flow of loving that is not just a possibility, but your right and privilege as a spiritual being who is currently having this physical experience called life. Indeed, no matter what your experience has been - whether it has

been the hot and dedicated pursuit of a dream that has been clear and compelling for a long time or whether you turn away and are now living with that restlessness, knowing that there was or is something else, something you sense is more inspiring that you want to do - we invite you to lean back in your chair, close your eyes, and for just a few moments go to that quiet place inside you that is not limited by the boundaries of physical time or practical considerations. Please do not just read these last few paragraph and move on. Stop, take a few, slow deep breaths and give yourself the gift of getting back in touch with your dream. You will, we know, be deeply grateful to yourself for doing so. Indeed, you will be taking your next steps to honoring what the poet Mary Oliver has called, “this one wild and precious thing called your life.” There are, of course, numerous techniques that can assist you to get in touch with this inner experience. Different forms of slow, focused breathing; various reflective and meditative practices; the use of mantras and simple phrases spoken on the out-breath and the in-breath; a walk in a favorite woodland; a run along a wild and beautiful beach; moments spent gazing into the innocent eyes of your child or that remarkable being you are spending your life with. Any and all of these practices and a host of others will do. Indeed, whatever allows you to connect to your heart and be available to the guidance that comes from within you - anything that allows you to remember your dream, is perfect.”

Even if this first re-connection to your dream is only a vague sense, a hint of a direction, the barest impulse, or a fleeting image, allow yourself to glimpse it, sense it, feel it. But do not hold on too tightly or be disappointed

if it does not materialize as a complete game plan for the rest of your life. Just let it unfold in whatever way is appropriate and for which you are ready. Just touch into that special reservoir of energy that is your dream and let it evoke in you the beginnings of a renewed sense of hope, purpose, and passion. And if by chance you find yourself suddenly feeling the impulse to blow the dust off those paintbrushes; open the cover of the piano or of your toolbox; or dig out that notebook you tucked away on the bottom bookshelf of a bookcase, that notebook that is full of ideas for that humanitarian project, that business venture, or that novel you once wanted to create, then go ahead. Truly, no matter how old you are or what you have chosen to do thus far in your life to earn your daily bread, if you give yourself permission to touch even the edges of that dream that lives inside you, we are confident that you will experience a sense of rightness, of alignment with something that is deeply familiar. Of course, you may also experi¬ence some pangs of regret for not listening to that “still small voice” more often and listening instead to those who told you that you had to be reasonable and responsible, that you needed to find a practical and proven way to sup¬port yourself, and eventually, perhaps, a family. But don’t let that regret stop you from re-connecting to your dream. Just keep following the hints and impulses. Just stay in touch with that sense of alignment and naturalness and let it be your guide. How can you be sure you are at the right place, the place where your dream resides? You’ll know. So welcome it. Be grateful to it for the fact that the light of wonder and longing is alive and well inside of you. You may also want to keep this reconnection private for a while. You know what they say about “protecting vulnerable beginnings.” So hold it sacred and nurture it, and above all, be willing to allow these first moments, these new

re-connections to grow stronger and come more alive inside of you.

And even if you do not know where these first hints or images will lead you or how to bring them even more to life, let that be okay. The only thing that matters now is your willingness, your availability and openness. The only thing that matters now is that you honor this re-connection and allow these first stirring to lead you step by step toward that greater unfoldment of the life that you were born to live. So we celebrate your courage in taking these steps and leave you with a remarkable quote from Oriah Mountain Dreamer, the author of The Invitation. We also leave you with our sincere hope that you will also keep some of encouragement we offer and extraordinary words from this gifted writer close to your heart. And most of all, we hope you will celebrate the very distinct, special and unique notes that

you and only you have to come to this earth to add to the great song that is life. “It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dreams, for the adventure of being alive.”

Faith is what brought me from South Florida to Southern California. When the idea first popped into my head to further enhance the wellbeing and spiritual journey I started years ago, and become a student of the Chopra Center in California, it almost immediately went from being an idea to becoming a full-blown decision. However, I knew that it would only be a distant dream unless I adopted the faith, or optimism, necessary to make it happen by seeing it as already so.

The people I told were only those friends who I knew would hold the

same optimism that I did. If I talked to anyone who showed even a smidgeon of doubt, I would immediately changethe subject, instead of attempting to change their mind. After-all, this is MY journey.

Readers of this magazine already understand the level of optimism it takes to accomplish a goal. Successful people expect success. Optimism, by definition is the act of expecting the best possible outcome in any given situation. Also, inherent in optimism is the element of NOW. Instead of thinking about what you want as

somewhere out there in the distance, you accept and visualize your desire as already here and now.

However, I believe there are at least three levels of optimism. I will attemptto use viewers of “The Secret” movie to illustrate these three levels. Those who embraced the teachings of “The Secret” and had success with it, needed no further convincing of its truth. Enough optimism was present for them to accept and allow. They possessed a high level of optimism or faith in the ideas presented.

For others, there was enough hope to at least keep seeking and going deeper and perhaps testing the Law of Attraction in a lukewarm fashion. For the lukewarm, they could hold belief in the Law of Attraction for short periods and experience some level of success. And finally, there are the pessimists who flat out declare that “The Secret” and the Law of Attraction does not work [for them].

What’s interesting is that the pessimist has the ability to attract what they want, but they most often attribute their success to hard work. Hard work is where their optimism is spent, and there’s nothing wrong with that as long as it leads them to achieving their ultimate desires. Unfortunately, they also receive an almost equal amount, if not more, of the undesirable (in my opinion).

Now, back to my journey. My goal was to find a home close to the Chopra Center, where I intend to spend the majority of my time. I found a home only 3 miles away. My goal was to work and study at

the Chopra Center. I was offered a job, which I accepted. None of this was available a few months ago when I decided to make the move. And the perfect home was found only the night before my flight.

I witnessed the result of optimism, and the lack thereof, at the airport when I was preparing to fly to San Diego. Upon hearing the announcement that the flight had been cancelled and everyone would not arrive at their intended destination at the time we had expected, I remained optimistic that an even better flight was being arranged for all of us. However, there was one woman who started complaining, which gave way to full-blown anger, directed at the staff and the airline as a whole.

I heard one person mumble, under her breath, that she hopes the angry woman is not on her flight. The angry woman asked the staff “why can’t you just book me on a flight using another airline?” The answer was “because we have no access to the booking system of an airline that is not ours.” Needless to say, this made angry woman even angrier and she started making loud, angry phone calls.

I was glad to see that everyone else seemed to be taking the changes in stride and appreciated that the problems with the cancelled plane had been discovered prior to take-off. I was grateful for this as well. When my time came to be re-routed to my destination, I was connected with a different airline that would arrive at my destination even earlier than I would have on the cancelled flight. Why did this positive outcome happen for me but not for the angry woman?

Could it be that her negative outlook on the situation spread to the very

people who had it within their power to help her? I think so…I watched them tune her out as they began helping other customers. My experience with the very same staff was very pleasant, accommodating and they went the extra mile to make sure I had a great flight which included priority seating.

Faith or optimism is a choice we can make in every moment of our experiences. To be at the highest level of faith and optimism, I believe it takes a high level of forgiveness and surrender. Surrender…A topic for another article is already brewing.

In our fast paced-hectic lives what has meaning for all of us?

We’re often so busy, multi-tasking, constantly plugged in, running around like chickens with our heads cut off, fulfilling our never ending to-do list.

When we take a few minutes to slow down, breath, meditate and disconnect, we often find a sense of peace and renewal. Sharing quiet moments in nature, relaxing, enjoying a hobby, a workout, or a good book can make us feel centered and help us to gain back our sense of wonder. Time with cherished friends and loved ones brings us a sense of joy and connection with others.

When we slow down and reflect we not only feel better, but we start to ask ourselves the really important questions.

Try asking yourself and your loved ones this question: What do you most want to be known for? What makes you and / or your family unique? Think of the things that you were taught growing up, all the lessons you’ve learned the hard way, the happy moments, and the values that you hold dear and express in your everyday life.

As we mature, we begin to get a sense of the meaning and purpose of our lives, and it’s natural to want to find a way to transmit this narrative to our friends, significant others, to our children, to our grandchildren and to the generations yet to come.

Pictures, videos, films, letters, mementos, and perhaps most importantly, our thoughts about life’s lessons learned are the legacy that we wish to preserve. They are all part of treasure trove that we want to share while we’re here, and, at some point, wish to leave behind.

It is easy to collect and store the physical mementos, but many of us struggle to coherently collect the words we want to use, and express them in a compelling manner so that our friends, family and heirs truly have access to our thoughts, our beliefs, and what we stand for.

That is why Berlin Consulting Group created the Legacy Declaration program, which is available to individuals, families, cherished friends and groups.

This interactive program uses the 24 page “Create Your Own Legacy Declaration—A Practical Guide to Passing on the Values You Hold Dear” booklet and a short video. Participants take part in a step-by-step interactive path to understanding Legacy Declarations. They learn how to prepare to create one, ways to make the process more meaningful, how to foster personal, family and intergenerational conversations, and how to design a final Legacy Declaration that will always be treasured. Advice is also offered on more elaborate projects such as: preserving print and film on DVD to protect keepsakes forever, creating a video autobiography, and having your memoirs written as a book.

Developed by Louis Berlin, author and President of Berlin Consulting Group and Knowledge 4 Success, who has researched historical documents, and his wife Nancy Berlin, who has an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy, this short effective program gets the individuals, friends and families involved to create a lasting legacy. When successfully implemented, it has the added benefit of increasing communication and creating

understanding among the parties involved. For participating families, it opens the doors for important conversations to take place between generations.

Things like this don’t happen to me. I’ve never been seriously ill in my life. Oh, I’ve had a few sinus infections along the way, but cancer? Did she really say, “You have breast cancer?” That doesn’t run in my family. We have heart attacks and strokes. We don’t have breast cancer! But then, she didn’t say “we.” She said “You” meaning, “Me.”

Hearing the diagnosis of cancer for the first time is probably the most alone moment of your life. It’s the one time in your life when you are totally with yourself and your thoughts. No one else can know how you feel or what you should do. You will not understand it. Your family and friends will not understand it. The only one who will ever understand is God. I was to be off work the next day to celebrate my birthday, so it seemed like a good time to schedule the surgery. I arrived at the hospital

at 5:00 a.m. When I awoke hours later, six nurses were singing “Happy Birthday.”

The follow-up appointment with the surgeon the next week consisted of an explanation of an additional surgery which I would need to remove a sentinel lymph node – then a round of radiation treatments and chemotherapy. It was my understanding the sentinel lymph nodes are removed at the time of the mastectomy or lumpectomy. I had a partial mastectomy and a lumpectomy, but she didn’t remove them then. “Why?” I asked. She said, “Because I wasn’t absolutely sure you had cancer. I had to send the tissue samples to the lab for diagnosis. Now that we know, you will need to come back within the month to have one to three of your sentinel nodes removed.” What did she mean, she wasn’t absolutely sure I had cancer? She seemed sure when she said I had to have surgery the next day. Doubt was starting to creep in.

Even then, I listened to the surgeon and scheduled the lymph node surgery for the next month. I had always done what my doctors recommended. But now, I was starting to hear a voice inside my head telling me not to do it. As the date grew near, the voice got louder and louder. I still was not healed from the first surgery and felt I just couldn’t do a second surgery at that time. I called the surgeon and asked how long I could wait before I absolutely had to have the lymph nodes removed. She said no longer than a couple of months. So, I postponed the surgery. She sent me to see an oncologist. If anyone has the most up-to-the-minute information on treatment options for each type and stage of cancer, it is an oncologist. This oncologist explained to me that

lymph node removal is usually done at the time of the cancer surgery. It is for the evaluation of how fast the cancer is moving through the body. He seemed surprised it had not been done.

I thought the surgeon said she removed the cancer and all the edges were clean – why would there still be cancer moving through my body? If it was standard practice to remove the sentinel node when the breast surgery was done, why hadn’t she done it?

At my follow up appointment with her, the explanations still didn’t add up correctly in my mind. After all, I had been led to believe the surgery would consist of a cut about an inch long where the surgeon would go in and remove a small tumor. Instead, I woke up from the surgery to find I had experienced a lumpectomy on one breast, a partial mastectomy on the other and I had large cuts along the side of each breast. On top of that, I had a staph infection in my breasts. Now, she wanted to cut me open again and was telling me it wouldn’t just be one or two lymph nodes she would remove, it would be eight or ten.

She showed me a pump that looked to me like a clear hand grenade attached to a long tube which according to her, she would insert under my arm and down my side. Daily, I would have to pump toxins out of my body. I looked at that contraption and I couldn’t think what to ask. I didn’t even ask how long I would have to do this. Was it to be a week? A month? Forever? I couldn’t see myself wearing that thing under my suit and going to work. What choice did I have? I didn’t want to do this. I was tearful. I was absolutely positive I wouldn’t do it, so I said, “You are not going to make it

as a motivational speaker. There is nothing you have said that would convince me to do that.” She was not at all impressed or amused by my comment and responded in a very threatening voice, “You’ll be sorry you didn’t.” That was even more upsetting. Emotionally, everything was upside down for a couple of weeks and my immune system was growing weaker by the day.

Surely, there was another way to find out if there was any more cancer in my body, so I pestered the oncologist who said, “Yes, there is another way. We can do blood tests and a CT scan.” “Well then,” I said, “let’s do that. Why do I want to be cut open again if you can tell from the blood tests?” Besides, I was still fighting the staph infection. What if I had let the surgeon operate again? Would the infection have spread? Would it have killed me? This made me realize that one of the most important things cancer patients should do which I had not done was to get a second opinion before allowing anyone to cut us open or treat us in any way.

I started doing research, visiting clinic after clinic, spas, and raw foods facilities throughout the Southwest, Texas, and even Atlanta, Georgia. I checked out clinics and doctors in Mexico and Europe. I even saw several naturopathic doctors. One told me to go ahead and do the radiation and chemo and then he would help me regain my health. That didn’t sound right to me. I prayed for guidance. I prayed I would make the right decision. I prayed for a sign or a message to help me decide what to do, but no answers came. The voice inside of me kept saying, “No” to what everyone else was telling me to do. The more they insisted I have chemo and radiation, the louder the voice became.

I read books and watched every movie I could find about cancer, treatment, nutrition, diet, and natural healing. I watched Louise Hay’s movie, You Can Heal Your Life so many times I could almost quote it word for word. When I watched it, the information resonated with my heart. I felt it had answers for me. After a long month of reading, seeing doctors, watching documentaries on healing and talking with other people who had been through conventional treatments, I was more convinced than ever that an “alternative” method was best for me. A friend recommended the Cedar Natural Health Clinic in Cedar City, Utah. This clinic said I could be an outpatient so I made an appointment. The following week, I drove to Cedar City and met Dr. Joe Holcomb. The instant I walked into the clinic, I felt a sense of peace and a calm I had not experienced since this whole nightmare began. Dr. Holcomb is a soft spoken, kind, and gentle man. He listened intently. Then he said, “Let’s see if we can get you well.” What a novel idea!

The other doctors had talked to me about treatment, but no one had mentioned “getting well.” I felt he was truly interested in helping me heal. After the initial examination, he put me on an intravenous drip of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements to boost my immune system. I sat for 2-1/2 hours with the tube feeding this mixture into my blood stream. Dr. Holcomb administered the drip, left the room, and came back with a book which he suggested I read.

It impressed me that he had “heard” what I had briefly shared and gave me a reference for dealing with my emotional pain. This was a doctor who did not see me as an illness. He saw me as a person. He would help me heal all of my dis-ease, not just my body. I asked to use the restroom before I started the three hour drive home.

While in the restroom, I continued to pray about my decision to take the naturopathic route. Prayer was becoming a 24 hour per day activity. While praying, I looked up and saw a beautiful poster that said, “The Power that made the body heals the body. There is no other way.” An incredible peace came over me. I had the answer for which I had been searching. I had my sign. I must admit I had previously thought the sign from God would possibly come in the form of a white dove, a rainbow, or something equally transcendent. I hadn’t expected it to be an actual sign on a wall. But, my heart was saying, “Yes.” There were extreme lifestyle changes to be made and for some, it may be too difficult. I had to find strength enough to make those changes. I knew, with God’s help, I could do it.

Things like this do happen… to all of us. That was three years ago. I have made extreme lifestyle changes and today I am healthier than I have ever been in my life.

I grew up with Florence Henderson portraying Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch. She was the quintessential mom. I had an opportunity to meet her when she performed in the Florida Follies and put that on the top of my to-do list.

For two joyously upbeat hours, I was entertained, exhilarated and mighty impressed. Henderson was the Master of Ceremonies throughout the evening and her showmanship, exuberance and enthusiasm was contagious. It was a Vaudeville-style show, with all the pageantry of the days gone by. And the Follies showgirls defied age. Each one, over 55, performed with aplomb and changed my perception on aging.

We all have the ability to triumph over tragedy and to rise above adversity. Henderson reminds me of the little engine that could … I think I can, I think I can - and then - we do! Florence Henderson illustrates this same philosophy in her life, her thoughts and in her actions.

I headed backstage as soon as the show was over, gushing with accolades and oozing a rather schoolgirl-like quality.

Liz: Wow! You were great. And what a pro you were when the technical system failed, you just went on with

the show. What do you do or say to yourself when things go wrong?

Florence: Each day, I say, “Everything works itself out”. I choose to be positive and to begin my day looking for the best. I keep a cool head and a warm heart.

Liz: The show defies aging. What’s your observation?

Florence: Aging occurs when you lose your enthusiasm and that’s how you truly begin to age. When you keep your enthusiasm, age is just a number. You see people who are angry and cynical, they become old fast. But look at Louise in our show, the Florida Follies. She’s 81, she’s enthusiastic and she loves being here. I think the audience can feel it.

Liz: What do you do to pick yourself up after a disappointment?

Florence: Even though there is adversity, I can overcome it if I keep the faith and hang on. Sometimes it’s hard to do, I know, but we all have tough times. I use self-hypnosis. And I believe our language is organic. Language is very important. It’s a known fact, if you use negative language, your mind hears it and you become it.

Liz: If you were to define yourself, what would you say?

Florence: Well, it’s simple, just like Nellie, a role I played in South Pacific, I’ve gotta say, I’m a cockeyed optimist.

Florence Henderson’s story goes beyond show business. She began to notice a loss of hearing that developed during her run in The King and I. The situation progressed almost to the point of deafness before a hereditary condition called otosclerosis was discovered and was corrected through

surgery. Her recovery has lead to a long association with the House Ear Institute and other humanitarian activities, including 20 years as a national co-host of the United Cerebral Palsy Telethon and fundraising for the City of Hope.

Florence’s late husband, John Kappas, was a hypnotherapist and Florence has been a longtime proponent of the benefits of hypnotherapy since it freed her from stage fright and a fear of flying. She herself is a certified hypnotherapist .

Florence has earned the trust of audiences everywhere. For me, it began in 1969 as I watched her define motherhood. Today, she teaches me that like attracts like, so our thoughts about aging, adversity and happiness are defined and created by us. A warm heart and a cool head … that too, goes to the top of my list.

Whatever we ardently desire, vividly imagine and actively work toward creating will be ours. If you build it they/it will come. Whatever you believe will be so. If you can imagine it, you can create it. These are all statements of truth that you may have heard over your years.

So what is it that you want in your life, that you currently feel is missing?

Is it a deeper connection with and support from friends and family?

Looking for a deeper connection with all life?

Wishing for your dream home?

Needing more financial security and abundance in your life? Desiring a new car?

You can have all these things in your life and more, if you believe you can and if you can imagine these things in your life followed by the action to achieve them.

The power of the imagination is extraordinarily magical. The imagination is usually alive and well during childhood and adolescence. In order to use the imagination once

again, simply give yourself permission to awaken childlike qualities.

Imagining and fantasizing in a healthy way creates the foundation for allowing what you wish for to manifest. For example, when you decide that you are going to get up to go to the kitchen, some part of you actually visualizes getting up and going into the kitchen. The action then follows the thoughtform. To create the things allow yourself to visualize them first, take action and watch them manifest. It is a universal principle that what you focus on becomes a reality. To help you stay focused on what you want (vs. what you don’t want) use color and gems. The unknown secrets of color are right in front of you in the full spectrum of the rainbow in everything you do daily. Every day you choose clothes to wear, food to eat, and all types of choices that involve color.

What would happen if you started to make all your choices with conscious intention using the 7 secrets of color? Your life will transform into one that is charmed, relaxed, flowing and full of grace and ease. It simply takes a little knowledge about the secrets of color along with focus and intention.

Let’s say you want to have the confidence to have a conversation with your good friend about something that’s been agitating you. Start out your day eating a banana or a grapefruit while scripting your conversation – focusing on the color yellow, the color of self-confidence. Choose a citrus-based perfume or lemon essential oil as your scent and wear yellow or turquoise clothing or pieces of clothing. Decide on turquoise or aquamarine rings or earrings – centering on the color blue, the color of good communication.

As you make each of these choices, focus your intention and visualize how

well received your conversation will be. Imagine a positive outcome of the two of you laughing together when it’s all said and done.

Why would this work? It works because each color is associated with the color, vibration and scent of the energy centers of the human body on a mental, physical, spiritual and emotional level. The use of color, gemstones and essential oils employs your vision and sense of smell to maintain your focus on your intentions.

In the words of Paul J. Meyer, “Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon must inevitably come to pass.” Use the tools to maintain your attention on your intention!

Choose from the colors of the rainbow to help you make more conscious choices in the way you dress and in all that you do. Chakras - the energy centers of our body, mind and spirit - can be aligned from head to toe by matching your intention with the color of your outfit and accessories.

• Brown, black and red for power, grounding and focus. Choose black tourmaline or garnet.

• Orange to birth those great ideas into reality. Carnelian and orange calcite facilitate this intention.

• Yellow to shine your magnificence and fabulosity. Use citrine and golden topaz to polish up your self-confidence• Green and pink to be compassionate and kind. With jade and rose quartz in hand, open your heart.

• Blues to express your authentic self

with wisdom. Adorn your neck with aquamarine and turquoise to allow the Divine to speak through you.

• Purple to bring forth inspired living. Amethyst encourages intuition.

• White to align with purity and clarity. Diamonds and selenite are sure to activate the connection higher awareness.

The choice is always up to you. How will you move forward in your life? Allow the colors of life to enliven your connection to the Divine in your everyday life. Inspire yourself. Inspire your friends and colleagues. Live fully and remember you are love!

The purpose that we are put on this beautiful planet is to grow into the best possible version of ourselves and be all that we were designed to be. In everything that I do in my life I have been fortunate enough to do from love and passion and a true desire to make the world a better place for all. Many people struggle with finances in the world today. There are less jobs because automation has taken work away and computers can do the work that it used to take hours to do. The world we live in today is very different to what it was even 10 or 20 years ago.

But to me the most wonderful thing about that transition is that another way to live is emerging. This way of living is far better than having to struggle with finances and dealing with lack and limitation. It is called online home business! Many people have discounted the opportunity that lives in their home computer and many have tried and failed proclaiming that it just does not work!

Online home business does work but it is up to you to make the most of this awesome opportunity to increase love and caring in the world. Who do you know that needs more money? So many people do need more money but you and I have been raised since small children to think we need to grow up and get a job to pay the bills. Now that there are less jobs for people we are a world in crises. What can we do? The first thing to realize is that you were put on this earth to learn to love. That is all! Love is the answer to any question that you have. When you are in crisis it is so easy to take your focus off being loving and just focus on what you don’t want and that is the lack of finances. But when you focus on what you don’t want then that is what you get more off. You need to keep your mind on the solution that is the key.

I have been working on my mindset

for many years now and a little while ago I realized that I had a lot of chatter in my head and it was very hard to be calm and still with all this chatter going on. Most of it was exactly about what I did not want and how that I kept getting that. It felt as if I could never change anything around in my life. I kept going from one financial crises to the next. I have since realized that I was in fact letting go and even though I kept going through the troubles I was in fact moving forward and I was learning a lot about myself in doing so. The biggest obstacle for me was that I was very hard on myself and while I was very loving to other people I was not very kind at all to myself!

When you have low self esteem it is very difficult indeed to come ahead and have the life that you truly want. But I have found that I am helped by a stronger call from God and there is this power that I follow that really helps me to be all that I can be. Once I got past the story of “I am not good enough” and “I can’t do this”, then I started to see real change in my life and it felt really good. Another thing that I was good at was seeing other people’s point of view and trying to please them in what I did. That was certainly a great pattern to break as well. You can never really please another person but if you please yourself then at least one person is pleased. The most important person at that!

Being the person I was born to be brought me profound changes. The things that I thought were wrong in my life truly were there to help and support me to be the person that I really am. Trusting my own inner knowing is vital. It will never let you down. Once you find a way to accept and embrace your life just as it is, then start celebrating because you then naturally draw the right people to serve you and help you to make this world a beautiful place for all. When you meet somebody

that seems obnoxious then just know in your heart that they are crying very loudly for love and give it to them. We are here to learn how to be loving and kind. The only trouble is that we get caught up in thinking about money more than love and kindness. This is changing in our world but it is up to you to make sure that you are making the necessary changes in your own life to bring about the life that you truly want.

I live in Australia with my husband and have 2 grown sons. Throughout my life I have been lucky enough to work according to my passion and have always truly loved helping people have a better life. When my oldest son was 6 months old as much as I truly loved him I knew there was more to my life than just being a mum and from there I have been self-employed. I have had a party plan business, been top seller Australia wide with my business. Run a dating agency and met some fabulous people who formed lifelong relationships. I met my husband online and had a 3 week holiday with him and he proposed to me on our last day together. I love the online world and meeting people from all over the world. I believe there is a much needed change in how people sustain themselves financially and I love helping people to have better lives by what I have learned along the way!

Thriving Instead of Surviving - Being An Optimist By Dana Gore

Saying that I had spent the majority of my life as a pessimist would be an understatement. Of course, I didn’t actually consider myself a pessimist, but rather a realist who happened to acknowledge that, more often than not, life was just terribly cruel and unfair. It was a good idea to hope for the best while expecting the worst. Prepare for anything to go wrong at any time for any reason.

How’s that for being real?

Well, while that may have been a very logical perspective at the time, more often than not, it left me feeling pretty lousy. Who could blame me? My world was built on a foundation that focused on survival. I wasn’t yet aware that thriving was a viable choice. But that was then…

So in case you aren’t familiar with the differences between thriving and surviving, I will gladly clarify.

Surviving is a way of life in which we are always in fear, preparation for something to be feared of, or living

a life that consists of little more than going on about our daily tasks while mentally preparing for death - someday. ‘Getting by’ is the goal. Life consists of things like chores, escaping and coping skills. I know it sounds harsh, and that’s because it is. When we are in survival mode, life doesn’t deserve our trust because we are convinced that we don’t create our own reality. If it seems that things happen to us, then we certainly are powerless over them, aren’t we?

Thriving, on the other hand, is about living with zest and enthusiasm. It’s about being conscious and aware of the fact that we are creative beings that are ‘on purpose’. Life doesn’t just happen. We understand that our reality is a reflection of the thoughts and belief systems we hold, especially the ones we don’t consciously acknowledge, and that at any time, it can change as soon as we do…if this is what we desire.

Now, like you, I had heard the term ‘positive thinking’ over and over again as a means in which to create a life

of happiness. It sounded good and I gave it a whirl. However, there was a problem...

I found that trying to replace a negative/self-defeating thought with a positive one was like trying to paint over a black wall using white paint without a primer. There is only so much one can cover up without the underlying ‘color’ of a belief revealing itself. Simply choosing to be optimistic is nice in theory, but will offer temporary solace until, and only until, an initial perspective is questioned, identified in its raw form, challenged and redefined with a preferred - but equally believable – perspective from a place of genuine honesty.

Using body image as an example, when we come from a place of hating the reflection we see in the mirror, we decide we need to change the image. We replace a behavior without understanding the cause. We prefer junk food, but punish ourselves by “having to settle for a salad”. Eventually, we’ll resent the process – and ourselves – for not succeeding in our attempts to be the person we would prefer to be. But what if we instead, removed our ‘belief’ about the situation and asked some questions?

“Why do I eat the way I do? What am I feeling as I make my choices? Are they habit? How far back does this go anyway? Why do I want to hurt myself?”

This will lead to follow up questions such as…

“Who out there do I admire and why? How do they treat themselves? What do they eat? Do they do these things because they have to or because they love to? How can I learn to love these things too? What would it take for me to learn to love myself?”

And see what comes up.

Once we acknowledge who we are at our core, we can – with clarity – acknowledge who we would rather be. We then make choices that flow in harmony with what we would prefer instead of against what we dislike.

AND THEN instead of replacing a negative thought with a positive one…we appreciate what the negative belief taught us and literally become what we would prefer.

We no longer have to survive because we already are what we have been chasing. We become the creator because we are aware of the prior beliefs that caused our results in our lives. Optimism becomes a way of being as opposed to a way of thinking.

This is thriving.

So rather than trying to be optimistic, we become optimists with full understanding of the whole picture.

This is how we create lasting change.
