EASTER DUTY In the dioceses of the United States, the obligation to receive Holy Communion at least once a year may be satisfied from the First Sunday of Lent (February 14th) to Trinity Sunday
(May 27th). For a just cause, the Easter Duty may be fulfilled at some other time of the year (canon 920).
Dear Parishioners,
Fr. Alex, Fr. Raj and I wish you all a very Happy Easter. May God’s great act of Love, through His Son’s death and resurrection, remind us what it means to be saved from sin and death. Our hope and our destiny find its source in a loving and merciful God. Let us rejoice in our God’s love for us. May your time with family and friends this Easter bring you much joy and comfort. Fr. Kent and I are very grateful to the many people who have helped us to prepare for the Lenten programs and the liturgies of Holy Week. We are also grateful for the cards, gifts and well wishes that we received. A very Blessed Easter Season to you all.
Fr. Jim

...Excerpt from Amoris Laetitia
Desires, feelings, emotions, what the ancients called ‘the passions,’ all have an important place in married life.” (n. 1) The second Vatican Council teaches that this conjugal love ‘embraces the good of the whole person; it can enrich the sentiments of the spirit and their physical expression with a unique dignity and ennoble then as the special features and manifestation of the friendship proper to marriage.’ For this reason, loving lacking either pleasure or passion is insufficient to symbolize the union of the human heart with God: ‘All the mystics have affirmed that supernatural love, and heavenly love find the symbols which they seek in marital love, rather than in friendship, filial devotion or devotion to a cause. And the reason is to be found preciously in its totality. (n. 142)
Weekly suggestion for the faithful to consider:
Week of April 1: Spend some extra time with the Risen Lord. Linger with him after Mass, make point of attending a weekday Mass, or take part in Eucharistic Adoration. Attend Divine Mercy program in your parish on Sunday, April 8th.
