LastSaturdayevening,duringabeau>fulMass,manyofourYearSixesreceivedthe Sacramentof Confirma>on. In receiving the Sacrament theywere Sealedwith the Seven Gi^s of the Holy Spirit. These Gi^s act as a guide for thestudentsontheirSpiritualjourneybut,asinourreflec>on,therewillbe>meswhen they need our support and we will need to carry them as they arechallenged by the many distrac>ons from our Faith that the world todaypresents.Pleasecon>nuetoprayforthenewlyConfirmedcandidatesandtheirfamilies.

OurdayonFridaywasagreat celebra>onofall that iswonderfulaboutourschool with the children immersed in the Presenta>on tradi>on of NanoNagle, our foundress, and the need to support thosewho require our help.Whilst having somuch funat ourmini fete the children raised$2120whichwill be presented to the Sisters early in Term 4 to support theirMissionarywork.

READINGCHALLENGE
ThefootprintthemeisalsorelevanttoourReadingChallenge.Therearemanyfootprints thathavemade theirway tomyoffice,but I’m certain thatmanymore are needed before I will wear the dreaded colours of the Eagles andDockers. Don’t forget to wear the colours of your favourite spor>ng teamtomorrowandwe’llhavetowaitandseeifIhavetochangeoutofmybelovedCarltongear.

EDU-DANCE
LastWednesdayandMondayofthisweekwewerethoroughlyentertainedbythe children’s Edu-dance performances. Congratula>ons toMiss Jenna fromEdu-dancewhodid themostamazing jobofpreparing thechildren for theirperformance.Theco-ordina>onofsomanychildrentoperformsoadeptlyinsuch a rela>vely short period of >me is testament to her skills at totallyengaging thechildren. I’msure theparentswereas impressedas Iwaswiththeveryenerge>cperformances.
HOMEWORK
MostresearchonhomeworkatPrimarySchoolsuggeststhat,initstradi>onalform,ithasminimaleffectinenhancingchildren’slearning.OverthenextTermwewillbereassessingtherelevanceofhomeworkandhowitwillbemanagedatourschool.Soo^enhomeworkbecomesanaddi>onalchoreforparentstoadminister without appropriate training, it can penalize children who findschoolworkdifficultand, ifnotset inawaythatallowsforsomeflexibility, itcanbeintrusiveoffamily life.Whilst it is importantthatchildrencon>nuetoreadregularly,thisdoesnotnecessarilyneedtobefromaprescribedtextthatthe children o^en find irrelevant. I believe that it is far beDer that childrenreadforpleasureandthatparentsandteachersdiscusswhattheyhavereadtodeterminewhethertheyhavecomprehendedit.
With this in mind, parents should see a change in the way that at homeac>vi>es(homework)isadministeredbyteachersduringnextTerm.

Well,we’vecometotheendofTermThreeandwearesoproudofthegrowththechildrenhaveshownoverthecourseoftheir>meinYearThree,sofar.Thisterm,thechildrenhavebeenbusy learningaboutneighbouringcountriestoAustralia.TheyhavewriDeninforma>onreports,presentednewsitemsandshowcasedtheirknowledgeandunderstandinginavarietyofcrea>veways,withandwithouttheuseoftechnology.Also,thechildrenhavebeenfortunatetohaveartlessonswithMrsFlexmanthisterm.Theyhavebeenbusycrea>ngindividualobjectsthatwillbeshowcasedatanartexhibi>ononWednesday1November.Hopefully,asmanyparentsaspossiblewillbeabletoaDendthespecialevent.Finally,thisterm,thechildrenpar>cipatedinEdu-dancelessonswhichculminatedinaperformancefortheirparents.TheirenthusiasmandenergywaspalpableandtheirdancetoIrishStarshipswasrhythmicandwell-coordinated.Welldoneonafantas>cterm,YearThree.Welookforwardtosharinginyourlearninganddevelopmentnextterm.MrsPirieandMrsAchmadYear3Teachers

NDCPS KNITTING CLUB
NotreDameKnilngGroupThis termhasbeenanenjoyableexperience forourkniDers. Westartedoffwith lotsof interestandenthusiasmwith the Year 6 and 5 students. Our liDle group was joined by some keen Year 1 and 2students who began learning how to knit with us. Together, with the help of some parents andgrandparents,we’vekniDedover60squaresthatweusedtomakeblanketsforpeopleinneed. ThankyoutoallthekniDerswhogaveuptheir>metocomeandhelpourcause.TheknilnggrouphasendedfortheyearbutpleasefeelfreetokeepknilngsquaresandhandthemintoeitherMrsKemptonorMrsEvangelista.

Attended by 210 flanny clad parents, teachers and friends, the event was so much fun with fantastic entertainment by our Bogan Bingo hosts, a wonderful collection of silent auction items, an abundance of awesome hampers and prizes on offer and plenty of laughter to be had.
