This meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. by NFHA President Nancy Hass after it

was established a quorum was present. Board members present: Nancy Hass, Romana

Slavik, Teri Larson, Greg Dillard, Mike Flynn, John Rode and Judy Denesia. Ken

Menendez was also present as the interim treasurer for the board. Board member Betty

O’Neill was unable to be present for the meeting.

A motion was made and seconded from the floor to accept the 2012 NFHA Annual

Meeting minutes. The motion was unanimously accepted. The annual meeting minutes

are available for viewing on NFHA web site until the next meeting.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

MONUMENTS/MAILBOXES/TENNIS COURTS/PROPERTY MANAGER:

GREG DILLARD

Greg reported that the final monument for NF located at 127th

and Nieman is now under

construction. Construction on the monument has been slowed down due to the incorrect

stone being delivered for the project. The correct stone has now been delivered and

construction should be completed in several weeks.

Greg also reported that during the past year the chain link fences at the pool and tennis

courts have been replaced with wrought iron fenced bridges. Also the parking lot at the

NFHA pool/tennis court complex has been resurfaced.

The board approved a plan to powder coat mailboxes on 123rd

Street and Perry Street to

see how they will hold up with salt put down to clear streets in the winter months and the

use of weed whackers during lawn trimming season. If the test program is deemed

successful then additional mailboxes will be powder coated. At this time 47 mailboxes

are in the process of being powdered coated. If this powder coating does not work, new

mailboxes may need to be considered at some future time.

LANDSCAPING: BETTY O’NEILL

Mike Flynn gave the Landscape Report in the absence of Betty O’Neill.

The past two summers have been hard on the landscaping in NF. Many trees and shrubs

are dead and need to be removed. Also the rose rosette disease has killed many of the

rose bushes. Bindweed, spider mites, and bagworms continue to damage existing shrubs

and trees. Moles have been discovered at 119th

and Switzer, both at the statue and the

Castle.

Betty has been working with Brian West with Brummel Lawn and Landscape LLC to

develop a landscape plan for the monument at 127th

and Nieman.

TREES: MIKE FLYNN

Mike reported that two seasons of drought have been hard on trees and shrubs. The

moisture we did get this summer helped a little but there are still dead or dying trees in

NF. Mike says the city of Overland Park has been very good about removing and

replacing dead street trees but replacement depends on time and resources.

Mike reports that the emerald ash bore has been reported in Johnson County. Mike

suggested NF residents work with the city of Overland Park to select street trees if

residents want to replace street trees on their own.

ARCHITECTURAL: JOHN RODE John says he gets three major questions. What type of roofing is acceptable, what type of

fences are acceptable and what color exterior house colors and acceptable. John says

there is a wide of assortment of colors that the board has approved as acceptable colors.

John mentioned that roofing companies are no longer offering 40 year composite roofs.

They are only offering 30 and 50 year composite roofs. They have extended the warranty

on 30 year roof to lifetime. He also mentioned that the roof needs to be a profile roof and

not a flat roof. He suggests checking with the Architectural Committee before installing

a fence but he also suggested talking with you neighbors before putting in a new fence.

The question of sidewalk maintenance was brought forth from the floor. The NFHA is

not responsible for the sidewalks and it was suggested that residents contact the city of

Overland Park about sidewalk concerns.

SOCIAL: TERI LARSON

Teri says that she works with a budget of $9500. With that money she puts on a spring

party, a pool opening party, a July 4th

party, a summer and fall social and a fall children’s

party.

The fall festival will be held of October 26 at the pool. Teri stated that she asks residents

to RSVP to help with amounts of food to order for each function.

FINANCIAL: KEN MENENDEZ

See the attached financial packet put together by Ken.

POOL: ROMANA SLAVIK

Romana reviewed NFHA’s working relationship with Jeff Kelly our pool service

provider. She says that we still have one year left on the two year contract we signed

with Jeff Kelly last spring.

Romana reviewed the age requirement policy that has been used by the NFHA for many

years. This was in response to a request by some NF residents to reconsider the current

age requirements. Romana presented a new age requirement proposal put forth by the

board for all NF residents to vote on at this annual meeting. The age requirement

discussion was very involved and a motion was made and seconded from the floor that

this matter be tabled until April 1, 2014 when a special meeting will be held to vote on

this topic. The motion was unanimously passed. Another open meeting was scheduled

for March 3, 2014 to discuss other pool issues and concerns.
