Monthly November Meeting Omaha Marine will be at the Nov. 17 meeting. They will bring new ski clothes, maybe some skis and boots to show and also take skis that need to be waxed back with them. Omaha Marine does not rent skis and boots.

October Monthly Meeting Approximately 33 members gathered at The Garage on Tuesday, October 20, for the monthly meeting. At this time more membership forms were collected. Hollis Anderson and Jim Crook, trip captains, talked about the upcoming ski trips. According to Hollis the Snowmass bus is full and there is a waiting list. Jim said there are 42 signed up for Telluride.

Congratulations to Jerry Obrist and Jim Peter for winning the drawings for $50.00 trip certificates.

Backwoods is sponsoring the showing of the Warren Miller film “Chasing Shadows” and we will join them in promoting this film to our members. This offers us the opportunity to distribute brochures and let others know about the club and what trips we have to offer this year. Vendors such as Backwoods, Omaha Marine, Mt. Crescent Ski Patrol as well as individuals will be in the lobby from 5:30-7:00 PM for the “yard sale” and gear swap. If you wish to purchase a table to sell your gear, these are available through Backwoods. The movie begins at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $15. Come join us at the movies!

Snowmass Pretrip Party Sunday, November 29, 2015

The pretrip party will be at Donna Awtry’s home at 1040 N 86 St. Ct., from 6-8p.m., please bring snacks, treats and desserts. There will be handouts for the rooming arrangements and the itinerary for the trip. CSC will furnish water, pop and beer.

When finding Donna’s house, you must access it from 84th and Holdrege, off of Holdrege turn South on Eagle Crest Rd., the road curves, then turn at the first left on to Talon Rd., go 2 blocks South, then turn right on Peregrine Ct. for a half a block, the very next left is 86th St. Donna’s house No. is 1040.

Telluride— FSA January 19-25, 2016

The trip is filling up fast. We have a few more spaces available. After skiing just one day last March, Telluride became my new favorite ski area. The skiing, the views, the condo and the town are just awesome. We’ll be there from Wednesday, January 20, through Sunday the 24tth. The bus leaves at 4:30 on Tuesday the 19th and returns early Monday morning the 25th. A four day lift ticket is included in the price with a fifth day optional for only $28. There will be a wine, cheese and pizza welcome party on Wednesday evening. The Bear Creek Lodge has a heated pool, two hot tubs, a fitness center and sauna. We can accommodate 36 people in 2 bedroom, 2 bath units at Bear Creek and have another 14 similar available spots in nearby condos. If we fill Bear Creek from the bus we’ll tend to put drive/fly outs in the other condos since they’ll have cars. We will be just a few blocks from the lifts and a very good grocery store. The condo provides an on-call shuttle services that is free and very quick. Getting to downtown Telluride is easy via the gondola which runs until midnight.

Prices: $920. Add $28 for a five day lift ticket. Deduct $210 if you don’t want a lift ticket. The initial deposit is $300 and the balance is due November 15. The ski club board voted to allow drive/fly outs before the bus is full for this trip only. Deduct $130 if you provide your own transportation. Some single bunks will be available on the bus for $80 on a first-come first served basis. It’s a long ride to Telluride so a single bunk will be a good option for some. This is a ski trip the club has wanted to take for years. I’m sure you’ll find Telluride as awesome as I did once you make the journey.
