Otherwise stated, our church calendar is coming to a close at the end of November and we will soon begin a new church year with the season of Advent. Yes, it is my prayer that our blessed church might be a constant, consistent, and stable place for us as Baptized Saints. My prayer is that Zion might be like a solid Ark in a world of raging wind and waves. My prayer is that our church can be that safe haven of grace and forgiveness, not only for our members, but for people of Gwinner and beyond. So, as we change from summer to fall and from fall to winter; as we change from one church year to the next; as our lives change; as our culture changes, our church will remain that one place for you and I to go where the unchanging and solid Word and Sacrament come forth. Change Is In The Air….Or Is It?

Fall is upon us. The leaves have fallen. Snow is on its way. We are in a

change of seasons.

Here at Zion we are also in a change of season as we begin to enter into a wonderful time of the year. Otherwise stated, our church calendar is coming to a close at the end of November and we will soon begin a new church year with the season of Advent. This excites me for it will not only be the start of my fourth year with you - as your pastor - but it will also be another year to hear, receive, and know that the Lord is for us.

With each passing season and passing year, we can also be comforted that the sure and solid message of Christ-crucified will remain steadfast for our blessed church. In other words, as the world changes with its changing seasons, changing trends, and changing fashions, Zion Lutheran - by God's grace - will remain consistent, unwavering, and faithful.

May Zion Lutheran remain steadfast in this upcoming church year and may all of us be grafted into the uncompromising truths of God's Word; His Word that holds, shapes, and preserves us.

IT’S TIME to gear up for an exciting time of packing shoeboxes

for children around the world!

“Operation Christmas Child”

The Shoe Box Gift sponsored by Zion Evening LWML

Sharing Christ’s love in a tangible way has been the heartbeat of Operation Christmas Child for 20 years. When Samaritan’s Purse first adopted the project in 1993, we never imagined that such simple gifts could help inspire generations of people to be givers. If there is one thing we have learned in the years since, it is that these gifts can be filled with great power when they are packed with love, covered in prayer, and sent in the Name of Jesus.

That power is evident in the lives of the millions of children around the world who have received a shoebox gift, heard the Good News of Jesus Christ, and graduated from The Greatest Journey follow-up discipleship classes. But it also is shown in the generations of families who have grown up packing shoeboxes and are now teaching their own children to give through Operation Christmas Child

How can I help?

Pray: Pray that God will touch the heart of every child who receives a shoe box gift.

Pack a Gift: A shoe box filled with small toys and other gifts can open hurting hearts to God’s love.

Donate: Donate items for Shoe Box Gifts. Donate $7 for shipping costs.

We will be collecting items for the shoe boxes until November 6th . All filled shoe boxes must be at the church by November 13th

.

They will be delivered to a collection site during Collection week November 14-19.

Check out the table in the fellowship hall for ideas on how to pack a box, extra items and

empty shoe boxes ready to be filled!

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17

On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed the 95 theses to the door of the castle church in Wittenberg

Germany, kicking off the Lutheran Reformation. That means that this coming year will be the 500th

anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation.

This is a supremely big deal! To celebrate this

anniversary, our Southeast Circuit Pastors will take

time to explain the basics of the Lutheran

Reformation in weekly bulletin inserts. In them,

you’ll learn about the history of the church before

the Reformation began, why the Reformation took

place, the challenges the reformers faced, and how

God worked to bring His church back to the Word

about Christ.

We’ll share pictures of some of the reformation

sites, and also offer opportunities for additional

learning. To culminate our year, we’ll have a joint

worship service and meal on the 500th anniversary.

Throughout it all, we’ll focus on how we are saved

by grace ALONE, by faith ALONE, through

Scripture ALONE, by Christ ALONE. To God

ALONE be the Glory!

One final note: Our Southeast Circuit will also be offering special “500th Anniversary of the

Reformation” circuit T-shirts and sweatshirts for sale. They are specially designed by Edward Riojas,

Pastor Daenzer’s father-in-law. They will have a unique design on the back celebrating our circuit, and

an illustration of your own church on the front. They’ll be a way for you to display your pride in your

church, and to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime anniversary! Order forms and T-shirt design will be

available soon.
