Happy BirthdayHappy Birthday4 CLUB EVENTS

Dear Members,

It’s hard to believe that the holidays are right around the corner! As we begin this busy month, we just want to say that we are thankful to each one of you for your continued support and happy to be on this journey with you. It’s certainly been a year like none other and we are appreciative for the wonderful relationships that we have with all of you. We’re very excited to kick off our winter season. Welcome to all of you who are already back in to “the swing” of things! We realize that everyone’s schedules may look very different this year so just a reminder to communicate any schedule changes with me, and we can make the needed changes to your membership.

As you know, our member/guest schedule has been pushed to the spring this year but we will still continue to offer as many activities as possible to keep the fun going this fall for each of you. As we enter the month of November, please keep consider the possibility of ordering one of our beautifully prepared Thanksgiving meals for takeout this year. Chef Robert makes an impressive holiday meal and his selections are always so delicious. We have included an order form in this month’s Clubber for your convenience. We will have fully prepared meals available for 2 to 8 or more people as well as a convenient a la carte option to help you enhance

your at-home holiday experience. Please note that we will also have specially priced wines by the bottle to add to any order that you submit. Please return these forms as soon as possible to GM, Joe Brooks so that we are properly able to prepare for this service. With the large numbers that usually partake, it is best to submit rather than call or email your orders. Thank you for your understanding.

Welcome to all of our newest members, and to all of the wonderful summer seasonal members that began the month in a new year round membership category. We are so happy to have you here! If any questions arise as you navigate through the next few months, please let me know how I can help.

Just a reminder that we are now offering a Winter Only Tennis Membership in its second year as well as our ongoing Winter Golf Membership. If you have friends that are new to the area, please set up an appointment with me and I feel confident that we will have a category that will take care of their needs. Thank you all, and I look forward to seeing you this month at the club.

Sincerely,Ashley Grimaldi | Membership Director

Golf NewsJulius & Vidantas Daukas won the second flight with the low round of the Pinehurst Member-Member with 61. Danny Hartpence & Dan Finlayson finished second with 70, winning a scorecard playoff over Brad Salter & Paul Kostamo. Finishing in fourth with 72 was Jay Carrick & Mike Green. The score of 70 was the theme for the day as Jay Roy & Greg Billings won the scorecard play-off to win the first flight over Bob Hamrich & Troy Holland and third place finishers Kyle Barlow & Kevin McClure. Beth Maslar & Joan Saimond won the third flight in a scorecard playoff over Frank Kistner & Bernie Whalen and Jim Ina & Mark Brown, all three teams also tied with 70. Jonathan & Julie Larson placed fourth with 71.

As a reminder, the men’s Member-Guest tournament will be held March 11-12-13 and the Women’s Member-Guest is February 22nd and 23rd.

The rescheduled week for this year’s Masters is November 12th – 14th. To coincide with the tournament, we will have our own Masters member event on Saturday, November 14th. Each member will pick a player in the Masters field and combine the pro’s Sunday score with your Saturday net score. The entry fee is $10 per person, prize pay-out will be based on the number of entrants. You may schedule your own tee time and pairing for this event, each member will need to select their Masters player before teeing off

on Saturday. Please join us for this popular member event!

The Sheldon Cup is scheduled for Saturday-Saturday, December 5th & 12th. The format is 2-Man total quota for 36-Holes. Please contact Terry or a member of the golf shop staff for more information on this event.

All members please note: the dress code is in force for all areas of the golf facility, including the practice putting green and the driving range. I have noticed a growing number of members who are not wearing golf attire while practicing, it is important that we all abide by the dress code. Another reminder - as we are heading into the winter season, it is especially important to obey our golf cart rules by keeping the carts on the path around the tees and greens and on the par threes.

Sebastien Bourdais produced the qualifying for his A.J. Foyt team with 7th place position, he was less than five hundredths away from making the fast six. They came home with a 4th place finish in a very entertaining and wild finish of the season. The St. Pete Grand Prix has become one of the best venues and action-packed races of the Indy Car circuit. The 2021 Indy Car season will start the season back in St. Petersburg March 7th.

Thank You,

Terry Decker, Golf Professional

SPCC TENNIS DIRECTOR

Tennis Director, Sanne Louwers was born and raised

in Eindhoven, the Netherlands where she was an

all-around athlete, playing tennis and soccer at an

early age. She began playing competitive tennis at

the age of eight and competed Internationally at

the age of fourteen on the Tennis Europe Tour

making it to the Top 70 in Europe and reaching the

Top 20 in the Netherlands in U18. Sanne came to

the U.S. to play tennis for the NCAA Division 1

program at LIU Brooklyn in New York City in 2012,

where she was the number one player in singles

and doubles for The Sharks. She earned Rookie of

the Year and Player of the Year honors during her

first year of play followed by an All-Conference #1

Award in singles and doubles her junior year.

Sanne Louwers

THE CLUBBERMONTHLY SPOTLIGHT

She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Marketing with

an emphasis in Sports Science and Management,

then became a volunteer tennis assistant at her alma

mater upon her graduation. This position helped her

parlay into an Assistant Coaching position at

Southern Utah University, followed by an opportunity

to work side by side with Coach Sean McInerney as

the Assistant Coach for Women’s Tennis at Utah

State University in the Mountain West Conference.

Her love for teaching really blossomed during these

years and developed further when she began

teaching privately for The Club of Riverdale and later

at The Racquet Club in Logan, Utah. Sanne often

says that her love of sports really was shaped by the

influence of her grandfather, Dutch professional

footballer, Jan Louwers of FC Eindhoven and PSV

fame. It makes her incredibly proud that the FC

Eindhoven team’s stadium is named after the soccer

legend and it inspires her in her personal career to

always strive for excellence. She is thrilled to start her

next chapter at SPCC where her passion and

enthusiasm have already made a huge impact on

the tennis program. She has a newly developed high

performance tennis program for juniors, and has

introduced new programming into the weekly club

schedule. Sanne is available for private and group

instruction for SPCC club members and looks

forward to helping players improve their game and

compete at their personal best.

To schedule a lesson with Sanne or join the

next club clinic, call the tennis pro shop at
