• HOMESTEAD ACT (1862) gave 160 acres of land to settlers 21 or older to live on the land for 5 years and improve the land.
• PACIFIC RAILWAY ACT (1862) promoted the construction of the transcontinental railroad by Federal Government giving land and loaning money to railroad companies.
