G’Day All, Well we’re off to a flying start for the second half of the year, with Hughenden on the first weekend, then back to Townsville on Monday, and out to Toomby’s on Thursday, to get things ready for the weekend.

From the amount of enquires we have had the campout should be a great weekend, so if you can’t come out and camp pop out for a day trip (or two). Don’t forget there will be no St Josephs at all this month. The Jam Session will be at the Pitt Stop this month as Tyson has been asked to perform at the Gympie Muster (Good on ya Mate) so the Lucas’s will be travelling . The Jam at Sue and Laurie’s was well attended, with some great stews and soups supplied by our wonderful cooks in the club. The Pallarenda Jam and Family Day will be held on the 23rd so we look forward to seeing you all there. Ladies, would you be kind enough to bring a plate for morning and afternoon teas. We will have a free sausage sizzle as usual for lunch. I would like to wish Keith Bagley a speedy recovery after his bad fall and hospitalisation. Keith has once again excelled with some great Trophies for our Talent Search. Speaking of the Talent Search, nominations are now available either on the web or from Maureen. A reminder that memberships are now overdue so if you are unfinancial this could be your last magazine. Anybody else who may be on the sick list get well soon ‘cause we miss you. Until next time, Country always,

Darryl

Traditional country

Three blokes were working on a high rise building project, Macca, Chook and Simmo. Chook falls off and is killed instantly. As the ambulance takes the body away, Simmo says,"Someone should go and tell his wife." Macca says, "OK, I`m pretty good at that sensitive stuff, I'll do it." Two hours later, Macca comes back carrying a slab of XXXX. Simmo says,"Where did you get that, Macca?" "Chook's missus gave it to me." "That's unbelievable, you told the lady her husband was dead and she gave you beer?" Macca says, "Well not exactly. When she answered the door, I said to her, "You must be Chook`s widow." She said, "No, I'm not a widow." And I said, "Wanna

bet me a slab?"

AUSTRALIAN ETIQUETTE: IN GENERAL - Always identify people in your paddocks before shooting at them. It's tacky to take an esky to church. If you have to vacuum the bed, it's time to change the sheets. Even if you're certain you're included in the will, it's rude to take your ute and trailer to the funeral. PERSONAL HYGIENE - While ears need to be cleaned regularly, this should be done in private, using one's OWN ute keys. Extensive use of deodorant can only delay bathing by a few days. DRIVING ETIQUETTE - Dim your headlights for approaching vehicles, even if your gun's loaded and the roo's in your rifle sight. When entering a roundabout, the vehicle with the largest roo bar doesn't always have the right of way.

Continuing the age old Slim Dusty Family Tour tradition Slim’s daughter Anne Kirkpatrick, her son Jim Arneman with some of their musical friends are heading out on the road for a special series of Family & Friends concerts.

Featuring

Anne Kirkpatrick and Jim Arneman

Anne Kirkpatrick ...the daughter of Australian country music pioneers Slim Dusty and Joy McKean, first appeared on stage at age 10 in her parents’ own Travelling Country Family Show back in the 1960's. She has gone on to forge her own long and successful solo career releasing 14 acclaimed albums, winning six CMAA Golden Guitars, several Mo Awards and an ARIA 'Country Album of the Year' Award for her 1991 ‘Out Of The Blue’ album. Anne was also inducted into the 'Australasian Roll Of Renown' in 2010. Joining Anne on the Family & Friends stage will be Slim and Joy's grandson Jim Arneman. Performing together and separately over the evening, they will be including special renditions of some Slim Dusty and Joy McKean classics. Also joining Anne and Jim on stage will be Slim’s longtime record producer and TCB bandleader...the legendary Rod Coe on the double bass. Opening each show will be the duo ‘Indian Pacific’ which features Jim Arneman together with the talented young Victorian musician/singer Flora Smith. These concerts will be a must-see for any Australian country music fan and a rare opportunity to see members of the First Family of Australian country music.
