Don’t Miss the Annual School Art Show, Friday November 5 th

Join us for this annual fundraiser for the school art program from 6- 8pm (BBQ begins at 5:30pm). Entry is $5 per family.

Ashby is lucky to have such an outstanding art program, as evidenced by its many awards (including most recently a first at the Geelong Show!) and the creative leadership of Kathy Hyland. Funds raised help

provide additional supplies and materials for the program and help to fund special art projects like the new mural in the Junior Playground (near the castle and sandpit).

This year’s Art Show will feature a variety of art work created during the year by the students (at least 2 per student), Grades prep through

6. So come see your child’s creativity in action!

The show will also include a BBQ at 5:30pm and an auction of seven  pieces of artwork (one by each grade) at 7:00pm! You can view the artwork that will auctioned at drop-off and pick-up the week of the Art Show. If you are unable to attend the Art Show you will also be able to submit a proxy bid on one of these seven pieces. Information on how to do this will be sent home the week of the Art Show.

We hope you have been watching the progress of the new mural in the  Junior playground spearheaded by artist in residence Mark Eadie (if   you’ve missed it, you can visit the FOA blog at http://

friendsofashby.blogspot.com/ to see posts about its progress). At the Art Show student’s will have chance to put their personal mark on the mural by purchasing for $3 a leaf that they can date and sign their name to that will then be affixed permanently to the mural.

You will also be able to pre-order Art Cards (8 cards for $12) based on the Ga-Ga pit panels created by the students. These panels are both individually and collectively beautiful pieces of art, and look great on cards.

So join us Friday, November 5 th from 6-8pm for an evening of art and fun!
