PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

Grace Hay - Fiorentina 2006

Eric Goldsborough - West Ham 2011

"Grace comes to everything, never complains and always works

hard. She even played through a broken thumb. She scored the

winning pk in the championship of the Autumn Bash along with 5

goals in 3 games that same weekend. She was the 5th to go in

PKs so all pressure was on her to come through. She stepped up

big time!"

"Eric is such a hardworker. He always listens and has a

fantastic attitude while learning to be a goalkeeper! He

always wants to be better and continues to push himself.

His journey as a goalkeeper has only just begun!"

How old were you when you started playing soccer? I started playing soccer very late, so Iactually didn't kick a ball and train properly until I was 14 years old. Before then, I played basketball and still do whenever I get a chance. What position did you play growing up? I played as a goalkeeper and have my entire life, even though all goalkeepers sometimes think they are forwards! I love being agoalkeeper! What is your favorite soccer memory while playing? Tough one, so many good ones!Winning the British Colleges North West league with my college in my final year atcollege was a big one because of how much I enjoyed playing at that time and my coachwas a great mentor. What is your favorite soccer memory while coaching? So many to choose from! But the 2that come to mind would be coaching against Benedictine with MNU in a big conferencerivalry game. It just a great game of soccer. Second would be coaching any of theWednesday goalkeeper sessions with our club keepers; the energy they bring topractices and how much they've bought into our goalkeeping philosophy is always funto coach and watch! Toughest opponent as a player? Too many to choose from. I've been fortunate to haveplayed against some great teams and especially some great forwards, but regardless ofthe opponent, the best feeling in the world was making a save that the player for surethought they had scored. Toughest opponent as a coach? Fire and Ice SC from St. Louis, IL. Coaching against themwith Huw Williams & Derek Shoare in the WPSL a couple of summers ago! Toughopponent and eventual National Champions. Who's your favorite EPL team? Manchester United FC. I'm born and bred from Manchesterand grew up less than 2 miles from Old Trafford, Manchester United's stadium. Favorite player ever? Paul Scholes - arguably one of the greatest midfielders of hisgeneration and a joy to watch! If you haven't heard of him, Youtube him. He could findyou anywhere on the field. If you were not coaching, what would you do? If I wasn't coaching, I would be playing andvice versa; soccer has been and is my life and I'm very fortunate to be able to call it mycareer! Favorite Quote? "Live in such a way if someone spoke badly of you, no one wouldbelieve it." - Zig Ziglar
