iLit has produced two or more years of reading growth for thousands of students across the country.
iLit students achieved statistically significant gains in all areas of reading during independent, random controlled trials across six states. Using GRADE™ as the norm-referenced assessment of growth, iLit students made statistically significant gains in all areas of the test. Gains are represented as percentile ranks. For example: After two years of using iLit, students gained 15 percentiles on the GRADE Total test and 17 percentiles on the Vocabulary test.
iLit students outperformed the control groups in allareas with statistically significant gains on the GRADE Total, Sentence Comprehension, Passage Comprehension, and Total Comprehension tests.

INTERACTIVE READER

Independent Reading motivates and empowers students by providing choice during independent reading time.
Students practice the weekly skills and strategies in a performance-based Interactive Reader at their precise reading level. Students receive immediate feedback on their comprehension checks and reading responses.
The capstone of the instructional day is the Read Aloud, Think Aloud mini-lesson. The teacher models skills and strategies with a high-interest, grade-level text. This scaffolding provides both rigor and universal access to a text that struggling readers might have been unable to read without teacher guidance.
TEXTS SPAN MULTIPLE GENRES AND TOPICS.
If I had to choose one aspect of iLit that I value most, it would be the anchor text. Each selection we have read over the last two years has been outstanding. My students often ask if we can 'Read more!' Most of my students had never read even one book when they started with me in seventh grade. The average reading level was fourth grade when my class began using iLit. The average reading level is now seventh grade. We are projected to reach eighth grade by the end of this year.

CAPTURE AND HOLD MY INTEREST.
To get better at reading, struggling readers need to read more. During their dedicated reading time, students are engaged with a wide range of digital books that span a Lexile® range of beginning reading to over 2500.

Cars Then and Now
Car HistoryWalking from one place to another can take time. That’s especially the case when places are a long way from one another. From earliest times, people have looked for ways to get from one place to place faster. WritingSKILLS
HELP ME COMMUNICATE WHAT I’M LEARNING. Access text and apply skills and knowledge gained through writing.
I like the types of questions they ask us to write about. They ask for our opinion but we also have to include
the story to back up what we think. That keeps me interested in what I am doing. Also, grading people’s
responses to the questions helped me figure out what I need to have in my writing to make it better.
