Diwali is the day of real aspirations. Invoke the whole universe. Many lamps

have to be lit, and looked after. Add the oil of love – Kundalini is the wick –

and awaken the Kundalini of others with light of the spirit within you. This

flame of Kundalini will be kindled, and one within you will become the torch.

Torch is not extinguished. Then there will be spotless sheath of my love. It

will neither have any limits nor any end. I will be watching you. My love for

you is showering as many, many blessings.

Shri Mataji to Sahaja yogis in New York in 1976

Our Beloved Mother has always showered her blessings especially on Rajasthan, be it

spiritually or otherwise. Spiritually, Mother has taken Her birth twice in Rajasthan in

the past, once as Shri Gangaur and second time as Sati Mata. Mother’s fore-fathers

belonged to Chittorgarh in Rajasthan and they were from SISODIA dynasty. Mother

has narrated all this in her speeches.

Jaipur also has the distinction of being blessed with a Sahaj public School which was

inaugurated by Shri Mataji on 26th November 2010. The school is situated at

Mansarovar .

Jaipur

The capital city of Rajasthan, Jaipur is the largest city in the state. The city was founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727, after whom the city has been named. Jaipur is best known for its beautiful palaces that attract tourists from all over the country and the world, which makes the city one of the most popular tourist places in Rajasthan.

Among the most popular places of tourist interest in Jaipur city are the Hawa Mahal, the Nahargarh Fort and the Jantar Mantar Observatory. Jaipur is also an important destination in the Golden Triangle tourist circuit which connects it to Delhi and Agra. The most interesting fact about the city of Jaipur is that it was planned according to Vastu Shastra. All the streets run from East to West and North to South.

The City Palace is one of the best tourist places to visit in Rajasthan. It is a palace complex in Jaipur that houses the famous Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal. The Chandra Mahal is one of the most popular tourist places in Rajasthan. It was once the seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur and was built between 1729 and 1732. The construction of the palace was started by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II of Amber and later on, additions were made to the structure by successive rulers till the 20th century.

Amber (Amer) Fort and Palace

The Amber Fort, more generally known as the Amer Fort, Overlooking the Maota Lake, the fort is best known for its artistic representation of Hindu elements. The fort is built with red sandstone and marble and consists of the Diwan-e-Aam or the Hall of Public Audience, the Diwan-e-Khaas or the Hall of Private Audience, the Sheesh Mahal and the Sukh Niwas. Remarkably, the Sukh Niwas has a very indigenous form of air-conditioning wherein artificial winds are blown over a water cascade to cool the surroundings.

Jantar Mantar Observatory

The Jantar Mantar Observatory in Jaipur is a collection of architectural astronomical instruments. The Jantar Mantar was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II who served as a

Page 15: NTRNATONAL WAL PUA 2017 - Sahaja Yoga · ntrnatonal wal pua 2017 and sahaj marriages 20th october to 22nd october 20th october -seminar 21st october -sahaj marriages ... jantar mantar

15

commander to Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is architecturally based on the one that is present in New Delhi. Both of them were built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. The king constructed five such structures in different places including Delhi, Ujjain and Mathura. The Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is the best preserved among all these structures and has been included in the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO

Nahargarh Fort

Nahargarh Fort stands on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, overlooking the pink city of Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The view of the city from the fort is impressive.

Along with Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh once formed a strong defence ring for the city. The fort was originally named Sudarshangarh, but it became known as Nahargarh, which means 'abode of tigers'. The popular belief is that Nahar here stands for Nahar Singh Bhomia,[1] whose spirit haunted the place and obstructed construction of the fort. Nahar's spirit was pacified by building a temple in his memory within the fort, which thus became known by his name.

Jaigarh Fort

16

The Jaigarh fort is the most spectacular of the three-hilltop forts that overlook Jaipur. In Mughal times, the Jaipur region was a major weapon-producing centre for the Mughal and Rajput rulers, several of the weapons being on display in the fort's museum. It is one of the few military structures of medieval India preserved almost intact, containing palaces, a granary, a well-planned cannon foundry, several temples, a tall tower and giant mounted cannon-the Jai Ban (Jaivan) which is the largest cannon on wheels in the world. Jaigarh Fort is also known as the fort of victory. The display includes a collection of canons, many of which are exquisitely decorated and were used in the Mughal campaigns led by the Rajput King, Raja Man Singh.

Albert Hall Museum

Albert Hall Museum is a museum in Jaipur city in Rajasthan state of India. It is the oldest museum of the state and functions as the State museum of Rajasthan. The building is situated in Ram Niwas Garden outside the city wall opposite New gate and is a fine example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. The building was designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob, assisted by Mir Tujumool Hoosein, and was opened as public museum in 1887. It is also called the Government Central Museum. Maharaja Ram Singh initially wanted this building to be a town hall, but his successor, Madho Singh II, decided it should be a museum for the art of Jaipur and included as part of the new Ram Nivas Garden. The museum has a rich collection of artefacts like paintings, carpets, ivory, stone, metal sculptures, colourful crystal works etc.
