The area of a rectangle can be found by multiplying the length by the breadth.

Area = Base x Perpendicular Height

Area = 9 x 6 = 54cm2

The area of a triangle is found by multiplying the base by the height then divideing it by 2.

If you multiply the base by the perpendicular height, you get the area of a rectangle. The area of the triangle is half the area of the rectangle.

So, to find the area of a triangle, multiply the base by the perpendicular height and divide by two. The formula is:

Remember to only use the perpendicular height of the triangle in place of .

Area = BxH ÷ 2

Area = 6 x 10 ÷ 2

Area = 30 cm2

Area = Base X Perpendicular Height

Area = 12 x14 ÷ 2

Area = 84cm2
